It’s honestly pathetic that we even have to troubleshoot through problems like this. Apple needs to get it together

This being a “faulty battery” with their watches, honest practice would be for Apple to recall those watches and replace them with an adequate battery; Apple Care or not. This is clearly a manufacture’s issue and not the burden of the customer.

Thank you so much for all of this information. I have no clue about Apple products but my son gifted his sister a watch before he left for college. Just got it and it had the green snake of death. Only thing is 1) I had the charger upside down 😂 2) had it connected to a power source with multiple jacks 3) it wasn't hooked up to a apple cube. I learned alot today. Thank you. It just powered on to the apple logo right at the end of this video.

I listen to your advice and follow it completely. I spent like 2 hours pushing the buttons so the battery die faster. Once it stop working, I plugged it to the charger and 15 minutes later the magic happened. Thank you for your advice.

So I did this and it absolutely worked. Only thing I did differently was I kept making the charge image flash on, until it wouldn’t. Instead of letting it sit there and die, I figured I could expedite the process by getting it to die sooner.

FOR EVERYONE IN 2023. IF YOU HAVE A NEW APPLE WATCH INCLUDING THE ULTRA AND IT IS DEAD OUT THE BOX THEN YOU GET THE GREEN SNAKE. JUST PUT IT ON TRHE CHARGER FOR ABOUT A HOUR AND I PROMISE IT WILL WORK(MAKE SURE WHEN ITS PLUGGED IN THE CHARGE ICON IS GREEN NOT RED). IF THE ICON IS RED YOU WILL NEED A NEW CHARGER.

My experience: Following his steps, I took my watch off of the charger. After about 8 hours, my watch died. I plugged my charger into the wall and placed my watch on it. The apple logo popped up. After about 30 seconds, the green snake of death came back. That was totally okay though because after about 15 minutes, the snake disappeared and the watch turned on. Thank you so much!!!!

Worked perfectly!!! I tried it a couple times using the multi USB charger that i have and it did not work. The key seems to be plugging it directly into an outlet with a single apple charger. Thanks a ton for the help!!

I read a ton of comments and the thing that worked for me was changing the plug to an outlet and on an iPad charger. Gave it enough power with the stronger power brick and started up in 3 minutes

another thing you can try if the problem started after watchOS 8.3 update: Put the watch over the charger only for 2 minutes, them remove it from there for another 2 minutes. Repeat that until you get at least 50% and do a config reset. Don't try to reset the configs if you don't get 50% cause the process you drain that even if you keep the watch on the charger and you will have a dead loop.

for my iWatch Series 6, took 5 days for its battery to be completely drained. Then i plugged it to my iMac using an USB and it work perfectly. Now it is workin perfectly

I had been unable to use my watch for 3 months now and this method worked for me!! If you are having difficulty with running your battery down, do it manually by constantly pressing the side button to wear it out.

Series 8. Took a whole hour to charge and move from the snake screen to turning on. Was literally about to unplug and do this method and then I looked over- it switched on. So maybe give it an hour. I actually gave one back after it was on the charger for 30 minutes and this is the second watch with the same issue! So give it a try for an hour and see how you go. Hopefully this works otherwise.

I saw in another comment that you can connect it to the charger and then press both buttons at the same time for about two minutes. It worked for me!

Okay so for my experience with the green snake of death, it’s true what they said in the video. You’d have to let it die completely until you click the sides and nothing shows up. After that, charge it from a power outlet, not from any other devices and it should show a green snake of death once again. That’s completely fine and my watch also got a bit hot during the process, just a bit hot not extremely hot. Then after half an hour or so it began charging normally and the green snake of death vanished. I hope this helps you guys in fixing your watches and have a wonderful day.

I never comment but can’t believe this worked! I was charging from a extension lead for 8 hours! And as soon as I plugged directly to the main wall within 10 minutes it worked Thankyou!

Found a easier way. Just leave it on the charger even with the snake of death. Push and hold both buttons at the same time for like 5-10seconds, while it’s on the charger and it will bring up the apple sign and come back on. Takes like a min to fully turn on but it works and you don’t have to wait for it to go completely dead before you do all of the stuff you are saying.

hi, i have a question....i left my series 3 watch to discharge for over a week....the only thing it showed was a red snake....a week or more went by, and the red snake still shows!!! what can i do to completely discharge the darn thing?, thx!

It took me 2 weeks to completelly drain the new battery. Yes, I put a new iFixit battery and forgot to follow they recommandations to drain it under 10% BEFORE charging it.

My Apple Watch is saved thought I was gonna have to buy a new one thank you 🙏🏽

For those who just got their apple watch from the box and see a red/green snake. Just charge it (even if the screen is just showing green snake) Wait for 15 mins, and then try pressing the crown and the side button at the same time. It worked for me. I tried pressing it for like 4 times.

Didn't work for me after that, so I froze the watch for 5 hours inside a bag to protect it. Then I put it on charge normally, and the Apple logo appeared. I noticed it was getting hot, so I used a power bank and put the watch charging inside the fridge. I did this 3 days ago, and it's still working. I should mention that the battery even lasts longer now. After that, I charged the watch normally, not in the fridge. It's not a usual fix, but it worked for me

I fixed mine following two easy steps. Connect to charger. Do a hard reset by holding both buttons for ten seconds. Release and hold down power button only until the apple logo comes up which takes a few seconds. Allow to fully charge before using.

My iwatch se would only charge up to 89 percent. So I followed this video and let my watch die completely. Charged it over night and it worked! My watch charges up to 100 percent again. Thanks for this video!

Thanks for the video! My Apple watch series 6 had the green snake of death and would not charge after days on my charger. I did what you said...just let it die. Now I do have to admit, it took almost a week to completely go black and not show anything! I put it on a charger and connected it a wall outlet and IT STARTED CHARGING AGAIN!! THANKS!!

I had two issues with the screen going completely black but with watch on as I could hear it chiming and also showing this snake, I first try the steps that I found on this black screen issue despite of the watch being on, but did not work. After depleting the battery it came back to life when charging it again.

I was charging from a power bar and only caused apple watch to get hot and not chsrge after 4 hours But the important part you said was charged from the wall and that made the difference Thank you

Their is one more thing you can do to fix it, put the watch in dfu mode (3sec both button, let go side "power button" while keeping digital for an other 10sec) and let it charge from the wall in that mode. Thats how i saved my applewatch serie 6

I bought a brand new watch today at BestBuy and had this issue, returned it and got a replacement which did the same thing. I'm not sure if these are lemons but I'm royally annoyed and I'm not sitting on it for days to drain the water while hoping for the best.

Just hold both buttons while it’s on the green snake of death for 10 seconds till screen goes black and the Apple sign comes up and it will be back to normal .

Hope this helps some people, I had an Apple Watch SE with the snake of death logo, I was pressing / spamming both buttons to try and make the watch die.. after a few mins the apple logo appears and my watch was fixed

Just opened my brand new Apple Watch for Christmas and I’m experiencing this problem already from taking it out of the box. If I understand your video correct there is a fault with the battery…….. it’s going back…if I have this problem already for sure I will experience more problems the longer I have it. So expensive for a faulty watch, shame on Apple ruined my Christmas & Birthday present 😢

Another solution is using the official Apple charging cube… I depend on my watch as it can be difficult to get to my phone. My watch died a couple weeks ago and wouldn’t charge until I hooked it up to the Apple cube. I’d been using a double port 2.4 amp charger.

I haven’t been able to use my watch for years. When I go to charge it it shows the apple icon for a few seconds and it goes away.. it comes back every so often but it doesnt stay.. it doesn’t turn on. I tried to reset it by pushing tge two buttons at the same time and it didnt work. I tried the solution on this video and nothing. What else can you recommend to do ?

I figured out before watching this that mine needed the wall outlet, not a charging block. apparently even a good 18watt charging block doesn't work right at least on my series 7 watch.

If that doesn’t work (because sadly it didn’t for me) try a different charger. I used the USB charger and the charging snake came up. When I used the USB C charger it charged straight away.

I just bought an Apple Watch series 7 and this is the first screen I’ve seen out of the box..so livid right now.

Mine had no snake of death. Put it on a standup charger and got a red snake. Then turned to green. Leaving it on and hope it fixes it.
