Ha! I just did the same thing 15 minutes ago thinking the filter would be behind the oil pan on my Sonata. Well the pan was leaking really bad anyway because there was no gasket, just silicone. Time to go button her back up :( Thanks for the video.

Nice video but draining it like that doesn't remove all the fluid, as some is still in torque converter. so you're basically mixing old and new fluid + these transmissions should only use sp III fluid.

Why not use the drain plug first then remove the pan?

I wonder that’s causing my galant to not drive while putting it in drive or reverse. Put 5 new quarts in and still nothing

yes proton gen 2 has the mitz box & same as yours you only change the fluid only every 30k as the filter change would require the box to be removed & split to do it,as i found out,lol & use sp111 atf fluid

why didn't you use the drain plug to empty out the transmission Fluid? is it nessissary to unscrew the whole pan and not just the plug in have a 02 Mitsubishi galant and it's been running fine just out of no where I was at a light as I accelerated the car started moving and then stop and I was not able to move the car I guess popped out of gear and was idling

I have 99 mitsubishi galant 99 2.4l engine and i just got shifting issues and codes read p0715 speed turbine sensor witch is a little black connector on top of ur transmission .swap that out with a new one and car maybe running better sometimes the transmissions fine and a sensor could b the problem witch is the cheapest fix but i been wanting to do the same change the fluid as well i just hit 161k. And im also running random mis fires. P0300 mind u the speed sensor i have is fairly new but i live in fl and some areas flooded didnt get the light till i ran into some water oj my way bak home any thoughts

Question: same vehicle, same year. When in Drive and my foot on break pedal, the car "jumps" off and on...Gears shift when car reaches 20-30 miles, but again "jumps" when I stop...What does this mean? Thanks for your help...

Good on you for attempting this feat on your own! But you should have just removed the 24mm bolt on the lower drivers side of the transmission on the bottom drivers side AND... YOUR service engine light is on for a reason, ALWAYS SCAN your vehicle prior to any repairs to see why it is on. It might and could save you time & Money. Whenever a vehicle shows up at my shop with a driveability concern...I Scan the vehicle first to see what is going on.If the customer has it in his or her mind that somebody said "YOU NEED SO & SO DONE" ,This correctly finds the problem. Last comment...Your ENGINE WAS NOT BUILT NOR CAN IT TAKE THE ABUSE that you are giving it. It is only a 4 Cylinder..IF you are using NOS "I saw the sticker on front drivers side hood" and always BEATING UP your car then that explains why your transmission fluid was burnt. I am not trying to sound mean or kick you. I am just giving you facts. Unless a person went to a TECH school then the only way to learn is by trial and error. Why is your audio tracks overlapping? right when you are going to explain he amount in the bucket it starts back to the beginning of the pan removal. This is very poor media management.

I have a few questions. How long did it take start to finish? Did you have to add more fluid later the guys at AutoZone said it takes 9 pts.
