Hole cannot be made into all frames with hot needle because most frames are made of a special type of plastic. Solution is mini drill or hand drill with thin bit. A mini drill , like INGCO costs around 2000 rs and it is very useful for DIY jobs. After fixing, buffing with this machine will give a polished finish like the original. One or two drops of super glue is enough.

In my case the needle wouldn't heat up enough to go into the glasses - instead the needle just bent when I tried to push it in. I'm not sure if this was a result of the needle being made out of a material which doesn't retain heat well, or if the plastic frame of the glasses was resistant to heat. In any case, I bought an inexpensive hand tool called a "hand mini drill" and used that to drill a hole where you would otherwise insert the hot needle. This took a bit of patience as you might expect when drilling a small hole by hand. I then cut the drill bit down to size using some wire cutters, superglued it, and inserted it, similarly to the video. It worked great! My glasses feel sturdy again! Just wanted to leave this suggestion here in case anyone is having trouble getting this to work with a hot needle.

Superb! I fixed the side handle of my Spectacles frame using this method. The side handle got a little messy due to superglue spreading a bit but the glasses are back in action.

If the frames are acetate, would acetone be preferable to super glue?

Could not make a hole with a heated needle. My frame must have been heat resistant, I might need a mini hand drill but this would be a costlier fix 😔.

A good idea, but I wish you could show how to insert the lens back on the repaired frame. For me that is the most challenging part of the repair as most lenses must be inserted before the frame is glued.

Yes.... it will be long lasting but hair like crack may be seen from outside.

I've tried just super glue by itself. There's too much space and also tension for it work on its own, but maybe your are different; try it.

Do not use super glue to fix your glasses. It can void any warranty you may have on them. Only use super glue as a very last resort when you are 100% sure that you are buying new glasses.

Don't try it, the needle may stick when you're trying to make the whole and you won't be able to pull it, like what happened to me

if you heat the neede again and quickly pull it it will come out. The needle's smooth surface won't make a proper bond, so this repairing method is not good (unless you are really broke of need it quick and for the moment).

Make a hole on the other broken end and then cut the stuck needle to the required length and insert it into the new hole to fix it.

the idea sure will work , but if someone punches you or ypu get into an accident , that frame will break from that exact point and needle might go into your eyes
