Hi, I have a 2004 BMW 325 XI, I called BMW they said that the car didn't have a radio code. Could this be true? I took the radio out to look up the model # and serial # gave it to them and they said no code for that. Has anyone ever heard of that before? The battery was replaced at a shop that had the battery out over night. Any one have any thoughts ?

@1:20 there could be a charge? What? No No No...Here's a tip, if you buy a OEM stereo that needs a code, first off make sure you have the vin for the donor car (majority of ebay listing include this if you buy one there) and then call ANY dealer for the brand of car the radio came from and simply just ask for the radio code. They will ask for the sn's of the unit and sometimes the vin number and will give it to you over the phone for free. If the first one refuses, call another. I promise you will find one that's welling to. You don't even need to be in the same state as the dealer your calling as its a national database they look the info up in. On a side note, don't ever drive your car to the dealer to get the code. This is where, majority of the time they will charge you a arm and a leg to give it to you. I truly think dealers secretly call this the stupid owner fee.

Bought my neighbors 2002 BMW 745i. was sitting forever, had the battery replaced and I have the radio code card, but there are no buttons to push to put a code in. ..John B. I have a 2003 Saturn Vue, I am the third owner of this vehicle. It has the CD, cassette, AM/FM stereo radio, I changed the battery and the radio went in lockdown. After I tried several codes (0000, 1111, 1234 and others that were suggested by the Saturn GM service center, the radio went in complete lockdown.I spent $110.- at a GM,CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. They got the radio code but could not unlock the radio even after waiting several times for an hour.What can I do, is there anyway to unlock the radio.The radio was working great before I changed the battery.Radio model #22684454 sr#205472. I just picked up my brand new 2018 Toyota Tacoma SR5. I have about 288 miles on it and have noticed that the radio volume continually fades in and fades out. It seems if I’m driving down the road and I drive under a canopy of trees or something of that sort, the radio volume fades way down and on the same road as soon as I drive into an open area the radio volume fades way back up loudly. Any suggestions on what is causing my problem. Thanks

What these jokers charge to simply look up your code is often more than the radio is worth. Thieves are not going to waste time stealing cheap factory fitted radios when there is top of the range custom radios to be had.

Your right, nobody is going to risk getting caught stealing a cheap stock car radio. They created this crap so that they can claim it as a positive feature but really they did it because it doesn't cost them much at all compared to what they are going to charge people to get those codes from them. They know that eventually, the car is going to need a new battery and that most people will lose that code which will force them to pay a hefty fee to get their radios working again. So that gimmick is only there for them to be able to screw you for more money a year or two later after buying that car. They know they are not helping stop car radios from being stollen.

have you tried unhooking your battery for a good min and then hooking it back up, another thing to try is take the radio out of the dash and unhook the wires and then plug then back in after some time.

If you haven't changed the code, it should be the last 5 digits of your VIN number.

So online page asking for money for the serial code. But if I paid I will still no able to put into the radio. Ok..dude selling the 2004 Aero put in a new radio. Now it doesn't work thru speakers..all 4..but he plugs in his phone to it that works..so..do I need a code? He did put in a new battery. Nobody steal the stock radio out of any car.B.S. anti theft. GM's the best because there's a chip you can chip out of the stock radio and make it work in any GM vehicle it's made my life so much easier go to the junkyard buy a $5 radio/cd and you're back in business it'll says "Cal error" but that's a small price to pay for some stock Tunes.

BAD JEEP PRACTICE - USING A RADIO LOCK OUT CODE TO GET CUSTOMERS BACK INTO THERE JEEP DEALERSHIPS. Due to Jeeps bad design your Jeep radio can be stolen in a matter of minutes. I purchase Insurance for that reason without Jeeps involvement and Jeep does not pay for my Insurance . This appears to be a problem for Customers which would like to replace there U Connect replacement Jeep radios purchased other than from the Dealerships service department. I did get my code from the Dealership, this was a great inconvenience during my radio replacement. My family has two jeeps in the driveway and will never purchase another. Never Again = JEEP BUYERS BEWARE

Stupid bloody radio code,,we're talking about a cheap radio,, I don't care if its a fancy brand.I'll simply cut and gouge the thing out of the dashboard and fit some other radio and I don't even want CD or cassette or Bluetooth and I prefer old fashion dials and knobs... .....frankly I think its a Ransom to ask someone to pay a fee to be able to use their own radio, it ain't too different to protection money racketeering.... ...surely it must be possible to open the radio and hack the nuisance circuitry, we can say circumvent the circuitry.
