Older model..... I just bought a bran new Kurzweil PC4 SE and the knocking sound I did not experience with the Yamaha 125 or the DGX 670. I wish I could take the keybed in those models and put it in the Kurzweil so I can have the sounds of the Kurzweil and the feel of the Yamaha without the knocking sounds.

I have a Yamaha DGX620 with the clicking/thumping sound. It's about 14 years old. I think the keyboard seems loose generally. I feel if I open it up, it might make things worse somehow. Would your solution here were work on the DGX620 as well?

Thank you much for exploring this problem. I just wanna ask you if you encountered "buzzing" keys anytime. Some bass notes have an annoying buzzy noise on my digital piano. My piano is a "medeli dp-388" that has similar characteristics as your piano.
@mattrahr410
@mattrahr410 6 жыл бұрын
Random guess, but it might be your pitch or modulation wheel. Try putting weight, or securing them with your left hand while playing the bass notes with your right. Buzzing go away? If so, I have no idea how to fix, but it gets you pointed in the right direction!
@dougthecanadian2369

sorry it too so long to reply. If your keyboard has its own speakers its probably your speakers. if you don't... There might be a setting on your keyboard that deals with ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++he bass... Like a volume control that might be set to high. Hope that helped.

All the keys on my 88 key keyboard are very noisy, I have no warranty now since I was stupid enough to not realize this was not normal. I am too nervous to take it apart. I wanted to ask you what wold be your time estimation if this had to be done for all keys to get done and whether it would be worth just buying a new keyboard or to pay to get get it fixed. It is a Yamaha Dgx 650
@dougthecanadian2369
@dougthecanadian2369 6 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Sagall Hi Jonathon. It's pretty similar to mine cause it does have the weighted keys. Why don't you unscrew the screws from underneath the keyboard and open it up. Just try removing and adjusting "one key." If it works and you feel comfortable... Do it to all them. If your still having problems take a pic of the inside and email me at mcmaster964@gmail.com and I'll see if I can give you some suggestions that will help you out my friend... Good luck!👍

im afraid to open my keyboard. :) the keys clanked from the very beginning I didn't know any better and just thought that was how they were suppose to sound when they sound was off. Kawai es100 here. I guess time to buy a center punch, but first Ill put my ear near the front top of the keyboard to try and hear if that's where the noise is coming from before opening it.

I've taken apart my keyboard many times,to fix a faluty key (D5),and I rubbed a pencil on the key contact. When I was testing it,I found that it is really volatile(sometimes it work,sometimes it don't). If I clean the contacts,may I loose my restored key? Will it actually help,instead?
@dougthecanadian2369
@dougthecanadian2369 5 жыл бұрын
Just clean the section of rubber contact pads and let them dry thoroughly. The contact on the circuit board should be done with a Q-tip or some sort of soft pad that's not going to damages any of the circuit board. Hope this helped!😊

Try using a flux pen and a little solder on the circuit board where the key contact is. Look for some Browning or black spots. If it's on the end keys I wouldn't worry about it. I have the same problem with my end keys. Hope this helps.😄

I'm not quite sure. I checked out some pics of your keyboard online and it could be/kinda similar to mine in a way. Mines a Kawai and it's 25yrs old. The only way to be sure is for you to open it up. There will be a screw in the front, underneath on both sides plus one on each of the locking tabs on the back underneath. Let me know?

Have you taken wood shop or metal shop while in school? Your fix is a temp solution not withstanding time. The pins loosened because the centrifugal force and the weight which is being displaced when you press on the keys. Epoxy possibly is a better solution. Alcohol to clean contacts? Use contact cleaner. The alcohol. over time, can damage the contact materials.

I had a similar problem with my Korg quite a few years back and I think it was the spring that caused it to clank. These days keyboards are very light and inexpensive. I found my Roland online for $400. You don't have to spend a lot of money... You just have to do a little searching...😃
