im having a similiar problem that my A button feels really mushy compared to the rest, did you replace the membrane sticker or did you do anything else to fix your issue?

My Y button only registers if i push it down to the point my finger hurts

If your 3d isn't working (as in, it's stuck and the slider doesn't work) then disassemble again and make sure that the cables are ALL the way in. I had it that it was one nanometer off on one side which was apparently enough to cause faulty behavior.

just got done doing this; it was the first time I've tried anything like this before and it was one of the most stressful activities in my whole life haha. but I did everything you said and it somehow worked!!! my dpad works great now, thank you!!!!!!!

@@retroman-- it had an annoying clickiness to it. it just required me to clean gunk out of the rubber buffer like he does in the video.

do you know anywhere I can get a kit? or can you link some of the things you mention in the video? I have almost no knowledge of tech and I'm scared to open her up but atp one of my buttons has become essentially unusable so I'm about to learn just for this 😭

Was thinking about switching out the buttons and d-pad on mine for white ones and I definetly wouldve done it if I had a different model but with this one.. not too sure. The ribbon cables without the flap seem a bit scary to me. Pulling them out and putting them back in seemed easy in the video but honestly I don't know if I trust myself with that.. and i've done joy con shell and button swaps. Edit: not going through with the white buttons but after 8 years my 3ds needs a deep clean and some replacements. It's pretty easy; turns out the "flapless" ribbon cables do have a flap, you just can't put it all the way back.

Hey, i picked a n3ds xl at a retro gaming market and seller said only issue with it is the power button being difficult, would take a lot of effort to turn the the device on or off. Other than that its in great condition. Wondering if there's any recommendations on how i could repair it. Any advice would be great

I recently dropped my New Nintendo 3DS (Cover Plate model, not XL) and although it continued to work fine for a week afterwards, it just suddenly started crashing! I wondered if the wifi board got disconnected but when my Dad looked at it, nothing was out of place! Then again, that may be because either: 1. He didn’t look at the other side of the board or 2. It was the ribbon cable to the Micro SD slot that got a bit disjointed, which may explain why in addition to the many crashes, I was once thrown out of the Mii Plaza and given an error message If I remember correctly, I did see some damage detector, don’t know if it was for water damage but it looked red (if I remember correctly)! Should I get that replaced and where can I find a replacement if needed? My Dad accidentally broke the ribbon cable to the power button and 2 of the shoulder buttons so we’re waiting for replacements to arrive. Could that damage detector have something to do with the random crashes I’ve been getting? Thanks!

Honestly without seeing it in person it’s hard to say. If it isn’t modded and you’re having these issues it’s most certainly due to something not being properly connected to the motherboard or you have data corruption on the sd card. If it’s modded it could be so many things.

The 2 problems I have with my regular 3ds XL is that… 1. The D-pad won’t stop moving right. The buttons still work, but the blue cursor on the screen keeps going right, and I can’t regain any control of it, no matter what I do. 2. When I put a game card in, It doesn’t work right away like it should. I would have to keep taking it out and putting it back in and even blowing into the card slot and sometimes that would work, but not all the time. Is it possible to replace the cartridge slot?

I think you didn't hook in your ribbon cables correctly, you might just check those, and make sure there's no dust under them. I know with my Vita when I had to take it apart had a really shitty ribbon cable connector for the left thumbstick and it would constantly go right when I turned it on until I opened it up and found out that the left thumbstick ribbon cable wasn't seated properly. I hope this helps.

@@Wakkajakka Well, I didn’t try to fix anything. I think I might’ve unhooked the the cable somehow when I was trying to get the cartridge slot cleaned. I just went in there with a slightly damp Q-tip, but I think I may have to see if I can replace it if it’s possible. I’ll take my 3DS XL somewhere to get it fixed one day. Hope it’s not to expensive. Why i tried to clean it from the inside you may ask? I don’t know. I thought it would be easy to clean the cartridge slot that way!

Went to play my system today and the dpad is just constantly moving left. Ugh it was working fine yesterday and I always keep it in the case when I’m not using it dreading having to change this out thanks for the video

started it back up today an the dpad works I already ordered everything to fix it though. I guess if it starts messing up again ill crack it open.

@@GoBeyond4Balls If that's the case it's probably not the contact stickers, its the board for the dpad itself, thats easy to replace and they are relatively cheap to buy, around 7$

In most cases no you cant. The only thing thats shared is the joystick and some on the plastic buttons and thats it.

What about the rubber membrane for the face buttons? My A button does double presses everytime I press it. I already cleaned the existing membrane and the contact points but the issue won’t go away. I’ve ordered a new abxy board but I can’t find specific new 3ds xl membrames

did not know it was a sticker. its exactly like the xbox one controller. Sure makes replacing those alot easier. and fun facts the old 3DS XL both the AXBY and D-Pad buttons are stickers.
