Every time you say "and it comes right off" I really wish I was in your climate and not in my country with salty winters. No way that bolt is coming out that easy on my civic haha. Either that or it takes half the subframe with it lol

This is my favorite channel for hondas, especially 4th gen hondas..so i thought id be long winded on this one.. ive had several hondas over the years but had never got into swapping engines, i just always bought the car i wanted and modded what i had.. after watching john for years have decided to swap a 4th gen.. ive been researching for at least 2 years and though i understand what im researching i am still having trouble settling on which engine to swap. Yes i do want budget friendly as possible im not looking to turbo it.. and im not concerned as much with straight out speed as i am a solid canyon carver car.. honestly there is soooo much back and forth on which swap is the easiest and best that i continue to jump around thinking ok ive got it figured out then i research more and change to maybe this one or that one.. its become kind of a jumbled mess.. again budget is a part of my decision. Also ease of swap.. i would really appreciate some of everyones opinions..

Any B swap is good in a 4th gen. You'll be happy regardless of engine, I guarantee it and I'm speaking from experience. Find what suits your budget and go from there.

@@GarageBuiltHondas it seems like ive been leaning toward a b20 swap. My understanding is the b20z from a 99 to 00 crv is the high comp or ajdm b20b. Am i correct and i assume the b20z i could find cheaper but the b20b from a jdm shop would more then likely have way lower miles but probably alot more expensive? And with this engine what is the ideal transmission?

B20's aren't expensive in the world of Honda engines, one of the cheapest out there actually so you're better off getting a low mileage JDM one. Any B trans will be fun. Short geared is best for performance, long geared for daily. Don't let that make your decision. A stock Integra complete b18 swap into an ef is fun especially since you've never experienced it.

When I bought my wrecked Integra whoever had it completely blew apart the front passenger side wheel and pushed the wheel back pretty far. Bought the front end rebuild kit from rock Auto and it was good as new!

Yea I swerved to avoid an animal and passenger wheel went up onto a huge rock/mini boulder that was sat where the grass met the street. Tire blew to hell. Rim was fine but wheel was turned outward. Turns out tie rod was bent, replaced that, and tie rods ends, lower ball joint. Thought I was good to go until I saw the tire was still pushed back. So now replacing the control arm. Hope this does it!!!

i have a similar problem where the wheel sits far back just like this one but it also has a very low ride height, the wheel also goes back into its original position once the car has been lifted off the floor. can you remember if your wheel went back to center after the load being took off the suspension? thanks

I once hit a curb going like 40 mph and my wheel was pushed back like that. Wheel was bent and everything. Replaced the front LCA and it was back to normal. Also replaced the upper control arm.

I also want something very specific. I sold my EF a few years ago and bought a '99 coupe but didn't really have the time then to work on it, so I sold it.

Hey Garage build I also have 2000 civic lx but it green color. It's fun just to watch you do everything right(take off put on, adjust...) and make it looked easy. I have a question that I know you can help me because I believe you know pretty much everything there is a bout Honda. I have a 1991 civic hatchback Si that have a dent in the oil pan and I want to replace it. Except this Si have a ZC motor in it. Can I use a regular D serie oil pan? My apology for a very long ass comment. Thank you always

Yes, the zc uses the same oil pan that come on all the 88-91 civic/crx except the AWD wagon.

Nice video. I have the same problem, i have change the LCA and the spindle but unfortunately the wheel is still pushed back 😏. Now im guessing maybe the sub frame is bent. Any ideas what else it might be?

is that what it's called push back? I have this issue with my rear tires. they are both pushed forward and not centered. I did hit the median but from the side and had to replace the whole lower control arm on the left side. but both left and right tires are pushed forward where the space behind the tire is almost double the space in front of the tire. I want to put a bigger tire but cant bcuz of this issue. it's fine for the front tires but can't get on the rear bcuz the tire hits the fender on the door side. I have a 2008 honda also but a japanese version. Honda Crossroad, similar to a crv basically in between a crv and pilot lol. I was able to find a whole rear bar with spindles but only used the control arm . maybe my whole bar is bent and need to change it?

Hey man I have a 02 bmw 325xi I slid into a corner of a curb front right side tire going left (5km) hit on an angle I drove my car back home the wheel alignment was off as well as the wheel was pushed back but wasn’t rubbing , no damage anywhere besides some rash on my rim , no slow leak in tire either

Hi Garage Built. This video made me think if something on my 99 CRV might be bent as well. I installed some 1" spacers on the front but the driver's side wheel looks like it's ever so slightly slanted in so that I'm getting a little more wear on the outer edge of the tire.And the guy I took it to said that he wasn't able to align it because something might be bent. I have the same type of wheel setup you have on your CRV. My previous tires were a little wider eagle road tires. Is it possible something is bent? Or did I have to replace the shock on the exact side that I took it off? Or do you think the alignment guy just feeding me a line? Thanks in advance for any help.

Something's probably off. Alignment guys aren't the kind to beat around the bush, they'll tell you when settings are off.

I have an EJ6 coupe and I let someone drive it and they crashed it into a hedge. The FR wheel was pushed back in the arch. I replaced the lca and itit brought the wheel back forwards but not to where it should be. I am going to try a new knuckle and upper arms also to see if that’ll do it. You ever seen anything else bent from the wheel being pushed back? Maybe the subframe?

Yes. I've seen subframes cracked and bent. Sometimes the point where it attaches to the LCA it is bent.

I just bought an 01 Accord V6, and its in great shape except for a bend in the k frame that pushed the DF wheel back in the well. Is there anything I can do to reposition the wheel without having to replace the entire K frame?

I have this issue with my ef, it has been in an accident previous to me owing it i haven't tried replacing the control arm im kinda afraid the cross member was pushed back slightly.

That happens too. Just have to hope the frame is straight and maybe just the crossmember is bent.

You'll want to inspect all the suspension components. Something is definitely off.

My 2018 accord has bend control arm.cant get new one for another week. Any advice on bending it back as it my only ride. But rubs really bad nowwhen turning. Wheel set waay back towards the door. I HAVE TO DRIVE THIS IN THE MORNING.! Advise?

You'll probably need all new suspension parts as it is excessively bent. Best is to check some junkyards. Some even have their inventory of cars online.

I actually use the ball joint separator. I don't like snacking arms with a hammer. I used to but the tool works so much easier.

I've got a question. My front left wheel looks exactly like that except its a little bit further back. The tire on that wheel is wearing more on the inside. At first I thought I needed an alignment but based off this video it seems I need more than that. I guess the question is WOULD an alignment fix the tire wear or is it something deeper?

I have the same is with my 2002 civic ex on the same side as yours but the wheel is pushed to the front instead.when I bought the car i think 2 or 3 of the rims were bent but I wasn’t taking notice from the day I bought it until recently I see it. My left rear at fault also. The top of the tire is closer to the top of the wheel well What u think?

@@GarageBuiltHondas I replaced the front control arms twice now but it’s still the same. Don’t know what else to change. Not sure if the subframe is apart of the problem. And my rear left side is actually lower than the right. All shocks and struts are new from rack auto.

If you're having trouble finding the damaged area, it might be better taking it to a shop and seeing if they can point you in the right direction.

I have a 2009 civic. I hit a dip and ever since it’s been pulling right. The front driver side has 3 inches on each side of the tire to the fender. But the passenger side looks like it’s pushed forward by half of an inch. I’m not sure which side is bent.

Both wheels when normal always look centered on stock suspension. Take it to an alignment shop, they may be able to tell you what parts are bent.

@@GarageBuiltHondasI’ve had 3 alignments on the car by 3 Different shops. 2 of the shops were dealerships. I asked them to tell me if any suspension part was damaged or bent and they said everything looked fine. So I don’t really know what to do anymore.

No. The only front adjustable aftermarket arm is the camber arm. That will not help an issue such as this where toe is that far off.

Thank you for your quick response. I have the same wheel setback on my car. The reason I asked is because my car doesn’t have one big control arm like this one did. It has a rearward and frontward control arm in two pieces. They’re essentially rods. Hopefully switching them out with new ones will fix this

People usually jack up civics from those tow hooks and they tend to bend when you do that

Hmm. I've never had that issue. I rarely use the tow hook but sometimes it necessary depending on the job I'm doing.

I have a lowered 98' civic LX 4 door, I just got a bunch of stuff done, the main thing was both front axles and lower ball joints and I got an alignment done and my steering rack, so when I dropped it off, I had very minor camber, maybe like -1 if even and when I tuned everything was fine, I got it back from my mechanic, it's not his fault, I just found out my problem today, whenever I turned my wheel all the way till it can't anymore, my inner front wheels Hit my lower LCA and on the driver side it took a 1/6"-1/8" gouge from inside the wheel itself from bottom up half way left and right, the LCA just lost some paint and the same thing on the other side, but only a scuff mark, what could it be??

Couldn't tell ya. Lift the car and spin the steering wheel and take a look and see where it's hitting. The rack shouldn't even be able to turn the wheels that far.

@@GarageBuiltHondas the inside of my rim hits my LCA when it's ALL THE WAY TURNED until it can't, so I can't turn make crazy turns, if I don't, I'm fine, no rubbing or anything, just can't make a full turn without it hitting

You probably have a non-Honda steel wheel on there that has a very high offset. That's my only guess.

Always try to know somebody who works on cars. Or know somebody who knows somebody! It comes in quite handy. Going blindly to a shop will cost multiple times as much. Parts are cheaper through connections. And labor. I had my clutch replaced, starter, and battery/terminals, oil topped, all for $420. This would have cost few thousand dollars had I just went to a random shop.
