How to fix Huawei Phone and Galaxy Watch 4 compatibility problem?
I bought the newly released Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. However I cannot set it up with my Huawei P30 Pro. I saw many people had the same issue and there is not a clear tutorial.
The easy solution? Just return the Galaxy Watch! JK!
So here is a relatively quick fix for this issue (no need to return your beautiful Galaxy Watch!). This works for P30 Pro, but hopefully also other models as well.
The modified Galaxy Wearable app can be downloaded from the Reddit post / galaxy_watch_4_is_not_...

Tested devices: Galaxy watch 4; Huawei P30 Pro (HMS core, EMUI 11 (not Harmony OS)). Installed apps: Wear OS, modified Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Health, Galaxy Watch 4 Plugin.

Updates:
It seems everyone's Huawei phone may not work the same and some approaches work for some but not the others.
Check the below I just got from XDA-developers and Reddit and see if it works (9/9/2021):
Easy approach (Mine did not work):
Download Samsung Health. Then select the Galaxy Watch 4 via menu - accessories - search accessories (of course, switch on watch 4 beforehand and wait until you are prompted to set it up on your smartphone). After that, normal setup is performed. Before that, however, I had also installed the Samsung Wearable app and the Watch 4 plug-in. Smartphone: Huawei Mate 20 Pro
Approach 1:
You need Galaxy Wearables & Watch4 Plugin installed, now do the following steps:
Download Samsung Health.
start Samsung health then go to accessories and search for your watch (scan).
Samsung Health will call Galaxy Wearables to set up the connection and a normal setup is performed.
Edit: Do not shut down the watch. After that, you can't connect to the smartphone!!!
The watch is after that in a constantly reboot.
Edit 2: After a reset (watch) it works.
Approach 2:
Now here is an update of mine if the above does not work and Galaxy Wearables keeps disconnecting from the watch4
It was Explained that you need to have the following apps installed:
Galaxy Wearable & Watch 4 plug-in
Give all permissions to Galaxy Wearables and the Watch4 plugin by going app info, scroll down, permission and grant all...
Now Clear the data of the following applications:
Google Play Services
Google Play Framework
Google Play Store
HwWifiproBqeService
The phone will start acting up, that's normal, so restart your phone to allow system app to rebuild itself, when the phone starts, do not configure your google account yet, first try connecting to the Watch4 again through Samsung Health and it should work, after that you can do whatever you want for google...

Good to know it works with your Harmony OS. Could you share what phone model you had? Do you have GMS as well? My P30 Pro was recently updated to Harmony OS but it seemed to still have GMS so I have no problem using the watch.

I was close to returning my GW4C which I bought a few days ago since I was unable to connect it with my Huawei P20 Pro. I was happy when I came across the Reddit post and afterwards this video which demonstrated very clearly how to make it work. However, it took me longer than expected to make it work since following the instructions didn't allow me to connect my watch. I will quickly note down some issues I had to face, I was not able to pair the watch through Samsung Health as it gave me an error (incorrect PIN or passkey), to resolve this I had to go to Bluetooth settings and connect the watch there (make sure you press the checkmark on the watch). Afterwards, following the steps in this video made it work. Lastly, thank you very much Kenny for this video and the google drive was able very helpful as the link on the Reddit thread had expired.

I am glad I was able to help somewhat. I encountered the incorrect PIN problem as well in different trials and errors. I thought it will be solved by the order that I did. Looks like everyone's problem may not be exactly the same. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi Kenny. Maybe you can help me too... I have the Huawei P30 pro, and normal setup with my Galaxy watch 4 classic worked without any kind of problems, but for some reason I don't (or can't) receive calls on my watch - but I'm fully able to make outgoing calls from the watch. All settings regarding notifications, bluetooth etc. are applied as they should be, but when searching for solutions, I found that I must make sure to toggle phone on in the wear app on the phone: Watch settings/Notifications/more/Phone...but there is NO phone icon that I can toggle...but all other apps are there and can be toggled... I sure would appreciate any suggestions or solutions :o)

Hi Niels, Congrats on making your watch almost connected. Since it can show outgoing calls, it means the phone and watch are connected on call function. Correct? Then there might be some bugs in between. My suggestion will be you try turn on and off bluetooth, restarting of phone and watch, and/or connect through wearable OS and galaxy wearable. Hopefully that can work out.

@@lowkeyrandomguy Turn off wifi and mobile data before starting the app, without an internnet connection the app wont ask for the update. Then select your watch, then turn wifi and/or mobile data back on or you will not be able to sign into your account to use Samsung Health, retreive your backup etc.

I finally managed to connect my watch to my Huawei P30 after many failed attempts. My question is, do I keep the twicked Wearable app all the time or I can now download the official one? Because every time I open the twicked app I need to turn off internet and then turn on, otherwise the app says update which does not work. This worked fine, but unfortunately, the Wear app still did an update check check (Auto update is set to OFF (unboxed in the playstore). Message: Wear app will not start until you update .... So I am in a catch 22 situations here. Any suggestion how disable this update check?? Thanks, Marten

Hi Mandy I am happy to help. What is the exact message when you tried to install the modified app? If it asked you to update you can turn off wifi and cellular signal and try again, once past that step you can turn back on wifi and cellular signal.

Hi Mikhail - I do not have a Y9 to test so I can't speak for 100%. I think this at least works for Huawei Phones installed with EMUI (android) and HMS or GMS core. I encourage you to try and share your experience as others here did. Also read descriptions and see there are other easier ways that are worth trying.

Hello Kenny I had installed the apk in your link, but it wants to update first. Is there an updated version of your apk avialable? Galaxy Watch 4 with Huawei P30 Pro combination. I've tried to connect the watch with my Xiaomi (aliexpress) and this worked for me. watch is a gift to my wife, she uses Huawei P30 pro.... Samsung has a problem with Huawei? I will try to 'modify' the latest version of Samsung Galaxy wearable. This will work until a newer version is on the play store I guess? Is there an other way to make it work? Hi Hans I don't have an updated mod app. Would turn off the wifi and cellular signal and re open the galaxy wearable app work? Once past that step you can turn back on wifi and cellular signal.

My Galaxy wearable download using the drive link unable to launch, as it says required update. Any solution for this ?

Before running the galaxy wearable app, turn off the wifi and cellular signal. Once past that step you can turn back on your internet.

When open the app from your Google Drive, it days that it needs to be updated. When i press on the upload button, screen returns to your Google drive. Does not seem to be able to update it. I have a Huawei P30 pro. Any suggestions?

Hi Celine - When asked to update, The work around is turn off your mobile data and wifi and open the app again

I tried to use Galaxy Wearable app from your drive link. It says there is a new version for this app but when I click Update button nothing happens. I can't use the app you mentioned. Help me please.

Hi Talha, Just turn off wifi and cell phone data when open the app, and turn back on when you pass that step.

Hi, my Antivirus warned me that the file downloaded from your GDrive (out.apk) contains virus. Also, why it asked the password of my email when installing it?

It used to work on my P30 since last update of the Galaxy Watch 5 manager (on Monday May 15, 2023). When I install and launch the modified Wearable App, it asks to update it and then roll back to the official one, not working on Huawei. Any clue ?

@@zhijiatan8421 I found that resetting your network on phone, then adding your watch to accessories in Samsung health fixes it

I've had an issue. After a while the watch and application is no longer compatible and it doesn't want to reconnect unless I restart the watch reverting all my settings and losing all my data

Maybe try reconnect the Bluetooth and turn off and on with Google wear OS?

Do you/anyone else know if the huawei mate 20 lite can be connected to the galaxy watch 4 normally (without that process in the video)? I'm from Portugal, and when it came out, this phone had Google services and all.

Normal process may not work. As I read somewhere, There is a line of code in the app that says Huawei phone is not compatible. You can check the description of this video. There are a few ways (some are easy) that may work for you.

This should work on huawei p20 lite as well ? Just bought Galaxy watch 4 and it shows , that this phone doesn't support this watch. Would appreciate your help

Samsung HEALTH and watch 4 plugin are apks or official from play store If they are from play store can you send a link to add play store in huawei phones

Only the galaxy wearable app is modified. You can download that from my shared link in the description. Other apps can be downloaded from Google Play Store

Did you change any settings after connection? Sometimes if your watch is turned off, you would need to redo all the connection steps. You may also try turn off and on your bluetooth.
