Replace that centre tube nut with a nylock nut, rather than welding it, then use 15w motorcycle fork oil to re fill, (about 400mm per damper) has worked great for me. Also, bought a blown out set from Facebook for $80 and doubled up the adjuster nuts (rings) to really lock in that height adjuster, 18month of daily driving and no issues since then

Do they have gas in them?

I had to replace the seals. They don't sell a re build kit so I took some caliper measurements And got a double lip oil seal online to replace it. Was not as tall as factory was 14mm high and I could only find 10mm. Filled with5wt fork oil. Work great

Glad it worked out! Yeah theres not much to go wrong when you can measure the seal sizes, the OD and ID are the main sizes to follow

Hey mate, very helpful! can you please clairfy where is the bolt located and if it is possible to tighten it on installed coilover? for me it looks as top bolt on coilover, but I might be wrong. Thanks!
@mazzaneetum2 жыл бұрын
Hi which bolt are you talking about in particular? At the end of the piston there is a nut securing it from inside the tube. This worked free and was the cause of my leak
@HeenaHidef3 жыл бұрын
Very informative thank you. I wasn’t aware of this - I’m assuming this is only an issue with cheaper coil overs?
@mazzaneetum3 жыл бұрын
Maybe not every cheap coil, but the majority of maxpeedingrods coilovers i have repaired have all had the same issue. They should use a locknut from the factory, but even so the stresses applied to the nut is the main reason for it working loose. Hence why i decided to tack weld it on

What kind of oil did you refill it with. How much oil did it take

Apologies for the late reply, but I used motorcycle fork oil. I just brimmed it to the top and assembled accordingly.

Im having an issue with my coilovers i have grease coming from the bottom of the strut. At the beginning i thought it was from my axle boot but it seems to be leaking from the bottom and is sprinkling in my wheel well. I have godspeed momo ss coilovers . Can the dampening affect that?
@mazzaneetum5 ай бұрын
No, there shouldn't be any leakage from any coilovers as they use the fluid/gas for the dampening to happen.

I have some brand new Maxpeedingrods coilovers that were leaking upon delivery. Entire box was wet! I ended up getting a full refund and the company didn't want them back after seeing pictures. Now maybe I can fix them for a rat rod project.
@craiganderson-jones491610 ай бұрын
I've had the same thing and they have been utterly awful about accepting them back. Offered be a 60% refund, which I accepted, only to find out that the cost of a damper would be the same as the refund, almost

Yes it could be, the only way to find out is to take it apart and have a look for any damage or wear.

@mazzaneetum2 жыл бұрын
Later on in the video it shows that a used an angle grinder disc removal spanner, once you remove this, everything should just pull apart, be careful as it will be filled with oil and sometimes a gas

How tight should I tighten that nut that comes loose?🤔
@mazzaneetum2 жыл бұрын
Hello buddy, as the piston is made from plastic it may crack so do not overtighten it! Just make it a snug fit 🙂 I put a dab of weld on the nut to stop it from working loose, if you haven't got access to a welder then you may want to use a nylon locking nut instead 🙂

There is nitros gas in those coilovers...the gas is in there for a reason....basically the gas ran out when you took them apart. And when you put them back together without the gas in them ......they are no good anymore.....you destroyed them taking them apart long story short

How does the factory fill them with this gaz ?!
@802Garage Жыл бұрын
These are twin tube shocks and do not come gas charged. They don't even have a gas bag. Probably part of why they are cheap. ;)
@choco107 Жыл бұрын
@@802Garage definitely not gas charged ?
@802Garage Жыл бұрын
@@choco107 They are a twin tube design which typically use either a gas bag or leave some air space in the outer tube. Not sure exactly what MXR does from the factory but from their manufacturing videos looks like they just fill it and ship it.
