This video is showing how to solve a problem with rough engine runing and misfire on one cylinder in Volkswagen Audi engine 1.9 tdi PD. Problem appearing unevenly. (usualy when engine is cold) Engine fault codes: P1666 and P0301. Very cheap and easy way. With this step by step video, you can do it with simple hand tools.
Only new part that you will need is new rocker cover gasket.

This trick has saved a car yesterday (Skoda fabia 6Y, year 2003), same symptoms, same problem. Wow, the camshaft was brand new when I opened the cover, what a rock solid engines, a pity could have been to throw away a perfectly running car to junkyard because of an expensive repair budget that finally might have been only a loose connector... Thank you! Don't expect to put the car in a workshop and had this done like so, at least new harness if not change of injector will be charged...

Spot on ! My Golf 4, 1.9 TDI, 2001, 400.000+ km has been sitting on the side road 3 days until I finally found this video. My situation was exactly the same, misfire error on cylinder 3 and, on VCDS group 13, I had 2.99 on the misfiring cylinder and 3.01 on it's paired cylinder (number 1) and I decided to do exactly as in this video and now my car runs just as before. Thank you for making the video !!! Update on 29.01.2020 - Still going strong !

Was your engine the alh? I'm having a cylinder 3 misfire as well but my engine has the hard fuel lines fed from the injection pump and doesn't have the plugs for each injector
@zumik83

@@Stick4444 Mine is Pompe Duse, each injector has it's own pump unit that's operated through those wires by the ECU. You have one big injection pump for all injectors.

Did you just replace the one wire on injector 3? I'm having the same issue, can you tell me what you opened up, it's not in my cam cover like in the video, I do have an alh, so I don't know where these wires are going
@zumik83
@zumik83 2 жыл бұрын
@@johnnypenner7006 YOU DO NOT HAVE this kind of engine. You have a SINGLE injection pump that supplies ALL 4 injectors with diesel at high pressure. My car and the one in this video has FOUR (4) injection pumps, each of the 4 injectors has it's own pump, that's why wires are needed. Again, ALH does not have an injector wire loom like in this video. In this video, the injector is acctually an injector-pump unit, not just an injector. The wires control the pump that fuels the injector.

For a month I had a problem with twitching and working on three cylinders when the car warms up to operating temperature and then the ESP light comes on. Diagnosis showed a fault on the first injector circuit and mechanics immediately advised the injector repairs. However, I watched this video and decided to try this pinch on the injector contacts myself. And it worked. I have tightened all the contacts and the car is working fine. It is a passat b5.5 with 1.9 TDi engine with 302 000 km under the hud. Thanks for this video.

@@ivornappinion9406 First, check the electrical contacts and drive the car to check its operation, and if there is a problem again, test the entire power line coming to the injectors. These are all the wires in the plastic housing inside the engine. They are constantly in the engine oil and exposed to high temperatures and they often suffer. Test the flow of current through that current line. If this is also OK, then buy an injector.

Just done this myself, was prepared to scrap the car (03 a4 tdi quattro with 225k on the clock) it had started doing it when warm, when stone cold in the morning it would be fine, but as soon as it started getting warm it would misfire and when driving it felt like the engine was going to jump out, but this has fixed it, took about an hour in total (in the dark using my phone as a torch) and only cost me £14 for the gasket and some brake cleaner. Thank you sir!

You won't see any mechanic cleaning so well, because they have many cars waiting to be fixed and a bunch of customers wanting their cars to be done fast and good. 10 times faster and 10 times better. But if you do your own car, then you will have plenty of time to take care of it. One thing is sure: cars need to be maintained not fixed.

A new OEM harness is about 80-90 euros / dollars. I did the repair myself but I broke 2 plastic caps în doing it. My Golf 4 car is 20 years old and has 410.000 km so no surprise there. It is a fix since it runs fine for over 1 month now and I will leave it as it is. I don't think a broken piece of plastic will make a difference. The 2 wires can't possibly touch eachother once they are in place and well connected to the injector pins so a new harness won't make a huge difference. Thanks again for making this video.

Excellent tutorial. I have a pd170 brd engine with short to b+ on injector No2. Do you think this could be my problem with loose connection?

The problem is with injectors is as you turn your car off, The diesel left over from the last injection cycle caramelises on the nozzle tip. Just run some red ex through tour fuel system once a month.

Could this be the cause of irregular chatter I hear on tickover coming from the cams especially when cold or could just be the irregular common lobe wear?

I was so happy to find this video, but it seems that it is not the same misfire that my jetta tdi does, it doesn't seem to misfire a cylinder, but it seems that the whole engine dies for moments, and I can't get someone with vagcom to scan it. I'm fed up, sometimes when I leave it in neutral or want to get out of a traffic light, the engine shuts down... is it the same problem with the connectors on the injectors or is there a sensor failing?
