Thank you so much! I've been struggling with this issue for a long time. I was able to record my mic in the voice recorder app from Windows but not in OBS. The problem was that I didn't activate the access of desktop programs in the mic privacy settings. I found this issue when you explained about the Windows sound settings.

That was a good result. Basically, you click in the audio mixer section settings and click on Advanced Audio Properties. Under Audio Monitoring you need to Turn On the monitor that you're connecting for sounds: mic/Aux. *If too many are turnd on, the sound is distorted* Thanks for sharing💯😎

Thank you so much, I literally tried everything, OBS wasn’t muted in the system sounds, output and monitoring was on in the audio mixer, the sources were all connected properly. What happened was my system settings muted my input device, instead of anything to do with OBS. This happened randomly as I haven’t changed a thing since playing my game with OBS yesterday. Thank you for reminding me to check that too. Hope this will be useful for people struggling with the sound not even showing on audio mixer, might be a system issue.

Everything checks out but no sound using OBS. I've tried using every choice in desktop Audio in the setting tab. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This a fresh brand new PC recently bought less than a year ago.

I just want to record gameplay from my nintendo switch but audio isn’t getting picked up at all, I go to advanced properties and turn on monitor and output but still nothing. I’m using a cheap capture card from newegg that uses usb 3.0, do I need to upgrade to something better?

I can't seem to get the sound from OBS Mic/Aux to play on the speaker (I am getting sound from mic and there is sound from mic playing on our live stream), when I play a video on OBS I can hear sound but not from Mic/Aux, I have Monitor and output enabled for both, I did everything you did but not sure if I'm missing something

As soon as I turn on the program I can hear a click and all sounds stop. If I play a game I can`t hear anything. After I check the video clip there is an audio. I tried everything that was shown here and still no sound after I turn on the program. No idea how to fix it. No issues with other programs but they are paid if I want to record more than 1 min video clip

I am using a Dazzle DVC100 revision 1.1, and the video is just as it should be, but there is no sound. I have already gone to "Source/Properties/Audio Output Mode=Capture audio only/Use custom audio device=Yes/Audio Device=Line (Dazzle DVC100 Audio Device)." There is no sound no matter which audio input I set for the Audio Device; the volume meter never lights up at all. I have already set Audio Monitoring=Monitor and Output. I have already gone into Windows Sound and set the device level to 100% and not muted. In Device Manger, the Dazzle appears under "audio inputs and outputs."

Could anyone possible help me with this one: I'm trying to capture some VHS footage on OBS and i'm getting no audio input whatsoever. There's only a yellow and white AV port in the back wich i feel doesn't matter. Video works fine but i can't get any audio in at all

Changing the mic/aux settings to the capture device solved it. Didn't think that setting would help since it doesn't appear on my other laptop. Thanks a bunch 👌🏾💯

I ran into a issue and been searching for help desperately and haven’t found anyone who can help me with obs. So i been streaming for 4 months i use a switch console which is plugged into a elgato to my PC and runs through OBS. Everything was set up working great everyday until last night i noticed no audio showing up on my obs studio and people watching my stream could no longer hear my gameplay due to it. Ive even uninstalled and reinstalled with the recent update added as well and still no audio is coming through anymore. Do you think you can help me?

Non of these fix my issue. It was working normally, but since updating to 27.2.1 it stopped recording audio entirely I went through multiple tutorials and guides but non of them seem to fox my problem

ok good tips. didnt work until i did a trick which was select any other monitoring device then switch back to desired one, close and re open obs and voila had sound in headphones finally.

I have this problem and I STILL can’t get audio from my gameplays whilst doing (PRIVATE) live-streaming. What am I doing wrong?! I want to know how to make equal narration and gameplay audio. I have as follows Oculus Quest 2 Virtual Reality Headset Omen Gaming PC Prism Live Studio. I used back and forth between Default Audio,Oculus VR Headset,and headphones default. Yet STILL no output from my gameplays. Can some of you please help me get the equal audio output? I really tried everything from this video and nothing changed. I am a returning streamer needing help please and thank you.

It worked for me for awhile then it again stopped working, I tried to redo everything but nothing seems to work for me and its frustrating, i also tried to reinstall it but its the same as soon as i open OBS the desktop sound stops working (browser, games).

None of this worked for me, what I discovered was Windows needed to be allowed to use the device. In Search type in 'Choose which apps can access my microphone' and turn on 'Allow apps to access your microphone'. Then scroll down and check that 'Allow desktop apps to access your microphone' is on. My sound came on after this. Only problem I have is some echo so looking into that.

Everything works good for me, except after checking the video recorded, the quality of the audio is awful, I can only hear noise and clicks.... please what`s the issue ?

do you have a 'low end pc' ? if disk space and ram is low it can do it too. another common cause is latency. in the case of RAM shortage you can try shutting down other programs you dont need open, more extreme cases turning off wifi can limit cpu fluctiations. but also keep in mind it may be something as simple as choosing the right audio settings (eg. 16bit 44100Hz) . Knowing more about the task you were trying to perform would help others to diagnose better and narrow down the source of your woe. good luck

funny thing for me is discord picks up my mic and speakers just fine and there is sound from both of them and the sound level is normal and gets louder or quite when i change the levels obs just stop playing my sound i don't stream often so i don't know when it happened but obs was playing both of my sounds i think the problem lies more with the software of obs then anything else

I have a usb 3.0, HDCP 2.2, 2160p YUV420 chinese capture card for my ps4. No sound but through its headset output so far. It also has microphone jack input. But it has a nasty output, with static and buzzing sounds so I decided to fix that. Here's how : Open Control Panel , Click Hardware and Sound , Click Manage Audio Devices , Then Recording , Choose Digital Audio Interface , Click Listen , Enable Listen to this Device , Choose Playback Through Speakers , Hit Apply , Then OK . Thank me later !

explain your issue, i might be able to help if you give more details. sometimes the sample rate from the audio interface (mic/recording input) doesnt match the playback device sample rate (eg 16bit 44.1K may be 24bit 44.1 or 48K at the playback side.) these at least a dozen reasons why it doesnt work sometimes, only by knowing more can someone help you get it up and going
