A Chrysler dealer installed a back up camera on my 2015 300C. It works sporadically, sometimes it say "unavailable ", but stops working in early spring, and stays off until Autumn. However, sometimes it will work in hot weather and other times it won’t work in winter months. First time it malfunctioned was in 100° weather and I was parked with camera lens facing into the sun. They want more $ to diagnose the problem than what they charged me to install it. What should I look at first to diagnose problem?

Hello, my camera is working perfectly if my car is not started, after i start it goes black, do you know what can be the issue?

the same. I have it installed just today. it works when the engine is not started, and stops to work, when I start the engine But i have not connected this 2 short red wires on both sides of camera's cable, and took power for camera from the rear light bulb. I will try to connect them and will see if it will fixed it.

@@juri2rx I just talked with the producator of my head unit, they said the camera has to be connected to the head unit, mine is connected to the backlight

@@145kamikaze it is strange, that it works with ignition ON, just engine is not running. I will try to rewire it to the head unit.

@@145kamikaze I had noo time to check it to. But: 1st. I have found my Quick Manual, and it is written "do not connect these wires if your car comes with CAN-bus system". As I understand, one short red wire is connected in parallel to rear light, another to HeadUnit just to let the HU know the rear gear is switched on, just to give HU command to switch to the RearCamera View mode. Mine knows it even without rear camera at all. So it is not for powering, just for command. 2nd. As I wrote my camera operates correctly if the engine is NOT RUNNING. So, again not a wiring issue. During the day the rear camera even 5 times switched ON while driving backward, but just for a second each time. And if the engine just stopped running without turning the ignition OFF, the camera immediately is turned On. I suppose the problem could be in the "noise" on power line, while engine is running. There are many posts on it, "if your display is black - try to install the DC noise suppressor." My display is not black, but "No camera" or so was displaing I will try to find the filter or even try to power the camera with a spare battery . Probably filter is better, I have a gasoline car, and the sparkplugs and the coil can make electromagnetic noise.
