People are using the bus because it's slightly faster than the monorail. However, because the buses don't have enough capacity they end up waiting forever and the AI isn't smart enough to swap to the monorail instead. Probably just removing the bus line from the amusement park altogether would be more sensible. Offering them two ways to achieve the same movement usually means one isn't ever used. I should note, it's only faster on the return trip from the park, probably because the bus stop on the return trip is right at the ferry pier. On the way to the park, the monorail is faster and is well-used. Essentially you have all the monorails full in one direction but empty in the other, and the buses vice versa.

So at the end when you're looking at the Commuter Destinations for the amusement park bus stop, I think you've actually got lots of people that want to get off the island and back to the main city. You didn't zoom out enough to see it but I think I caught a glimpse of a destination icon across the water. It would make sense as it is the city's amusement park and probably attracts people from all over the city!

That would make sense but why would they take bus and not the monorail? The bus can't get them all the way so they'd have to change to something else. Maybe it's easier/faster to reach the ferry by bus than monorail? Could be in that direction.

My theory is that they prefer to take the bus from the main exit because of the time needed to walk back to the monorail station does not beat the time gained from having monorail over bus. Civs will always take the quickest route regardless of how busy it is, so bus must still be considered quickest for the distance to the train station. Adding a side entrance of the amusement park at the monorail itself may solve the issue or at least spread it. As a few of them will then choose monorail over bus.

Another thing I realise is that the monorail has the longer walk to the ferry. Maybe a lot of them take the ferry over the train and therefore choose the bus.

You still have the blue train stop on the same side for both directions on No Problem Atoll. Been like that for a few Episodes now :)

I replied to the first comment I saw mentioning this, it's now buried about 10 pages down. 22:38 for a close view of the problem. Also curious if Biffa has a mod installed that allows reversing the direction for the inside pair of tracks to stop the thru trains from doing a diverging diamond manoeuvre. i.e. the game sets the tracks as a left/right pair not an inner/outer pair.

I always struggle when Biffa adds in a transport hub. The hub never gets used as a true hub. There should be multiple lines coming out of the hub going to different areas, but instead there is a bus hub with two lines that go to TONS of places.

Dear Biffa, The monorail over the road is in increments, the pillars have different distances. You could have the four-lane + bus lane under the monorail with the appropriate pillar distance. An ingenious modded network. Thanks for the content :-)

I've been here since Teaville (I came in halfway through the series so I had to binge that one), loved Teaport, but I'm super excited to see the full power of New TeaLand, it's definitely my favorite (so far)!

11:09 Just add a bus-only road on the side of that one. I'm always surprised it isn't something people do more in this game: it allows you to have a massive bus hub in one place without affecting the rest of traffic, and if you have a few connections on either end, that bus traffic can join back into the normal road network without causing issues. Think of it like having a sort of highway with on/off ramps so all the traffic doesn't just get dumped onto a single road, except it's buses only.

Love the monorail!! I think you need to re-draw the bus lines though, I think the bus routes are all jumbled up and are now taking longer distances (which would explain why your green line jumped up from 18 > 21 buses) and the arrows you see when you are in the Stop view are showing double arrows in some cases ( >> instead of >) which generally means that the bus is driving the same road twice. Might just be worth deleting both lines and re-drawing them in :) Keep up the amazing work - love the new Metro line next to the stadium it looks amazing!

Don't forget also that there are larger capacity buses you can put on heavily used lines. For example, the workshop's got some bendy-buses with 3-4x the capacity of these little ones that run by default. (If someone doesn't know how to make this work, subscribe to the asset on the workshop, turn on asset in the settings, then select the new bus type on the line info screen.) The bigger buses seem to load passengers just as fast as the small ones

Probably the 200+ people waiting for the bus just want to go somewhere further than the same island they are in... I suggest a "zoom out catch a view" with Commuter Destination. I've finally bought the game and it's thanks to you! Now I've got to find some of the mods you use and get friend with them :p

Think of your Buses as the way you do metro's. Loops with Transfer points! They don't need to go long distances back to a stop somewhere, just to a transfer point like you've setup across the highway.

22:15 Heya Biffa! You should rebuild that intersection so that the monorail can move straight through and not have to make an S-Turn. Let the cars coming from the roundabout stop and turn.

Hey Biffa, since the monorail is taking people to Teasney World, there is a pack for the monorails on the workshop that makes the standard in game monorails look like the ones used at Disney World, and I think that would be too perfect for this stretch of monorail!

Another great video and way to start my morning - thanks :) If you have bus lines parallel other lines, as you found out most of them will still insist on taking the bus. So don't do that! Roadway hierarchy? Transportation hierarchy! Use your monorail as the backbone, then have local bus loops that just go from the monorail stop to the local destinations. All you youtubers make these ridiculously long bus routes! Local loops - not marathon loops! Don't bridge multiple mass transit stops with a single bus route or they will bypass the mass transit.

Love the fixes biffa! You can tweek also the ferry line number 4 to make it stop on the main island also on the way back, so the Alcatraz Islanders can go to the main island without going back to the hibiscus terminal!

Hmm Biffa. You are talking about your "Teasny World Shuttle" at around 37:00 and you can't seem to figure out why it has around 300 passengers. But I do believe you are looking at it to narrow, you are only looking on the same island. If you look at 37:21 you can see that some, if not alot, of the passengers you can't seem to figure out where are going, are using it to get to your train/ferry and go over to your mainland island, you can see all the nice red icons at the bottom as you quickly turn the camera at 37:21 So even with your extra monorail station and path, you will still have lots of pasengers at that specific stop

22:00 you could change the 90 degree turn into a off-road rail for the monorail and maybe even go behind the buildings till you reach the amusement park

37:44 Create a beach-side path with a floating restaurant or something. It will bring foot traffic to both areas, and you can easily just go around the big roundabout.

This is a really good example of how the game uses mass transit and how to make the routes efficient enough that cims will use them. Going to have to look at my current city and see if there are any routes I need to shorten or double up on.

It seems the Pedestrian AI has a preference walking>biking>bus>etc. Can't comment on his test method, but Seniac did a little test of this about 6 months ago. I won't link it, but it's called "ALL TRANSPORT SYSTEMS WHICH IS PREFERED in CITIES SKYLINES". Obviously distance plays a very big role in their decision making as well

Added commuter destination mod to my asset list... Going from fix to fix like that where you can actually track your progress. Exactly what I've needed in my city and I didn't even know it! Thanks for finding it and showing it off. Also added the b and p pavement! :D

i've comented this in the video that you build the Spartea University, but for some reason my comment disapear :( . If you use the touch this mod, you can change the paths of your vanilla assets, this way they will match your custom parks and feel like it's part of the same build. I love your videos, it gives me a lot of inspiration for my cities as well.

Move the Teasny Land bus stop to under the monorail. They may just pick the bus because it's right there. Still haven't fixed the parking lots at the stadium being connected with other parking lots.

Biffa. How do you make the move it mod look so easy to use? I really struggle to use the same height and slope function. Maybe you could do a quick tutorial on how you do it lol. But as always I love the content and your city so far and can’t wait for the next episode to come out. I find that when I’m building I always ask my self what would biffa do lol.

Just noticed something in the base game from this video; the game uses physics for vehicles. That is, at 7:47, we see a vcehicle come to a stop at the new crossing. The vehicle slams on the brakes, and the vehicle rocks forward-and-back, due to the sudden stop. Any other game would simple stop the vehicle. Yes, I've seen the water physics. I'd not really noticed vehicle physics.

"all these different transit options." You always forget about cable cars, Biffa. I saw several places where you could have used them. It's nice to see someone using monorails, so thank you for that. But cable cars get no love and they're really the coolest public transport option available.

Loving the series Biffa. One thing that might help with the trains - when you replaced No Problem Atol station, the blue line now uses the same platform for both directions which causes things to back up 🤙 Can't wait to see how the city develops 🙂

That small roundabout next to your university stadium really out to be upgraded to a road with sidewalks and cycle paths, because as it is it cuts the stadium off from the rest of the campus via those methods (unless they want to go down to the big roundabout and back up, but still).

Biffa, I think the reason the citizens choose to use the bus *from* Teasney World is because of stop location! The bus stop is practically right next to the main entrance, whereas the monorail stop is off to the side, meaning they have to walk all the way around... You can either try and move the stop in closer to the main entrance, or you could have a side gate which connects directly to the monorail stop, saving them having to walk all the way.

Biffa buddy, you have a bus hub for No Problem Atoll. Try implementing one bus for a certain sector and another, and another. Have 4-5 lines that go from the hub to a certain part of the community without going to the rest. You also have the same for the Ferry/train/monorail you have for that. Start utilizing and linking them up so that a bus hub can travel directly to another bus hub (options for the people) without too many stops. I think organizing the buses more directly within area will be good while hub to hub transfers (in the real world) or simply the train or ferry could be the transfer for many people at once. May still keep the amount of buses and the costs of them down, while still giving them a great way to move around. Please like so he can see!! Keep up the good work everyone

That Metro station you used is one of the new ones. It has to have a cross street to snap too. I used it my first metro line. It's perfect for its location. A light rail line, Expo center, plenty of bus lines, and a train station. All walking distance.

Love your city Biffa, you should rearrange your bus lines, organize them in local lines (short lines that go along a district with many stops) and interdistrict lines that go along many districts with fewer stops (the interdistrict lines could be replaced with metro/train/monorail if too much people is using it).

I really like to use underground metro when my bus lines aren't keeping up. Easy to pop in and i don't have to get rid of useful roads, like bike roads or roads with trees. Otherwise i would use tramway more often.

I think Biffa has mentioned that he considers metro the easy way out because well, it is. He prefers to finagle with more challenging approaches.

@@kaltaron1284 Well, anything that is underground can be considered the easy way out. But i take a lot of time to craft my cities, i don't want to rebuild half of it. Especially when i place down all of the buildings myself.

@@clnetrooper Fair enough, I can totally understand it. And you are right that underground roads are often (mis-)used in the same way. Although those seem to have a tendency to make matters worse if Biffa's fix videos are anything to go by. (They probably aren't.)

In reality it's hard to put in, because you have to dig a trench. And remove everything that is on top of it (houses, roads, cables, waterlines etc). In the game you can just make a tunnel wherever.

@@edewaal97 Depending on the kind of soil you have, it should be possible to dig the tunnels without removing existing infrastructure but then you will probably have to go deeper and it will be expensive and slow anyway.

I love the commuter mod! It's so brilliant at recognizing infrastructure / public transit issues. The Bike/Pedestrian path is equally great, definitely gonna get me to start a new city.

22:2 there is no need for the rail to follow the road like that, make the rail cut that corner, which would also make the monorail not slow down on that corner like it does

I was also think it didn't make any sense to follow the road to Teasney Park at all. Cutting along the coast would have made more sense IMHO. Unless Biffa has planned something for that space.

I believe they choose busses because they are cheaper. Honestly I would remove that green line under the monorail, you really don't need 2 transportation methods there. Also, I would use the node mod to spread the junctions distance a bit on the curves/places you have the monorails, that "S" is way too short and unrealistic for the monorail hehe. Great video as always

23:20 they likely walk there because it's faster to walk to that stop and then take the bus than taking the bus from the train station as the bus makes some wandering around the further corner from their destination

You could extend the monorail to the industry side and then only use the red bus over there running in a circle. Also the green one could go from the bus hub to the amusement park and another line in the opposite direction. Or as an alternative make a road crossing over the highway and let the bus connect the side with the unique building (forgot the name, sorry) over the highway with the industry area. True that would result in an less used bus hub. (BTW lovely video)

Biffa: "I know people are gonna still complain about that because...people always complain about my bus lines!" What I heard: "Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me!" I for one know I'll never get used to your bus...squiggles. Which is why I just don't think about them after they are commissioned. Also, Advanced Vehicle Options for editing mass transit passenger capacity to more realistic levels.

If you're okay with custom assets, another way to address crowded bus lines is to install buses with a higher capacity (so you don't need so many). I've got several, up to an articulated bus that holds 110 (standing room only!). There are also double-decker buses available!

For Aspen Park, I was thinking Polyteasian? Since it’s one of the Teasney World monorail stops, and on the actual Disney monorail lines, some stop at one of its own resorts called the Polynesian.

Regarding the olympic stadium, I think you should also consider a train station across the highway. Make sure it's a bypass station (i.e. it has through-tracks as well), and then have a pedestrian bridge over the highway.

Biffa loves metro loops, and this area is crying out for a monorail loop: Extend the new line, TeasneyW-HTT-AspenPark-Orelando Heights(2-3 stops); cw&ccw. If any, people would then need a bus line only within Orelando. Be careful not get monorail stops too close to HD residential because of the noise. Thanks for the entertainment!

The 140 something passengers at the busstop outside Teasney World, are going over to the other island, not down-town. That's why there are so many. You can see it at: 37:19 in the bottom of the screen

Don't really know about the possibility to name various islands in new tealand but since all is tea related... main leaf, north leaf south leaf west leaf for the various islands? Also, might consider to fit Macha heights somewhere - side note, "metcha" (phonetically) is slang for "very much" in Japanese and macha tea is very popular in Japan ; ). Another idea is also to try to fit a ferry tourist access to the theme park since you then would mimic Stockholms theme park being accessed by ferry. - tnx for great content!
