thank you for this courageous talk from Dr. Tisby and the courage of this channel to feature it. Us white folks (especially Americans) desperately need to hear this and reject those who call "CRT" or critical race theory a different religion and contrary to the gospel. We need to understand the sin of white racism and how we need to reject it.

As a black man who attended this church. My god. This was by far a insightful and beautiful conversation. As black ppl we are told to be quiet or “that’s not true” “racism is over” that’s weird tend to think we are going freaking crazy. We sometimes think we are making these things up in our own minds. When truth be told that’s the furthest from the truth. Dr Tibsy thank you for your insight and truth on this topic of racism.

I sat and listened to this entire video. In my years of studying church history , not one person I can think has dealt with the issue of race as the two of you. McArthur and Beaucham sidestep it as a political issue. But you two show that it is very theological and not political. Jesus lived and walked the people because He was the word. Most pastors have not divided the word of truth because of their own discourse. You have lifted my spirit and I can move to the next level with God in my learning.

What action is expected of me? That’s what I’m needing to know. Canceling my business, I think that’s a huge sacrifice because it wasn’t aligning with Gods word, so I stopped even though it meant the world to me. Being willing to pack up and move countries, I’m willing to do this and I want to do this to serve and be near people who feel like home to me but unfortunately I can’t move tomorrow because of finances…. So that’s a block in my action… is there any other specific action that is required of me as a Christian in the community? If yes then please let me know… personally, I feel close to God and I’m so content in my relationship with Him, I feel unconditionally loved & therefore I trust HIM. it’s community that I struggle with often and always have because of misunderstandings. So then I stay away because I’m tired of being misunderstood. I’m frustrated. & this is random….. and I am all over the place as I ask this because I know nothing and I am far from being an expert… I do love and respect and value you and God’s Church, otherwise I wouldn’t be saying a thing. What is white theology?

Black Liberation Theology.

The statement "this is not a opinion to be debated, this is a historical fact," followed immediately by [ongoing systemic racism] is "an actual proven scientific statistical fact, this system is in place, right?" Is precisely the issue, IMO. This statement is followed up by Jemar's claim that black women experience maternal mortality at 3x that of white women because of "lack of access to medical care". Is that statement from Dr. Tisby actually true? Is it a "scientific statistical fact"? I would opine that his statement is, at very best, a half truth, and actually has a lot of scientific statistical facts going against it. Per the CDC, the leading causes of maternal mortality for black women in America is due to chronic conditions relating to obesity and cardiovascular issues. Young black women are 3x more likely to be obese and 4x more likely to have diabetes than white women. Additionally, per the CDC, white women die at nearly 2x the rate of black women due to infection (wouldn't we expect that trend to be the other way around if lack of quality care was the primary issue?), and there is no disparity in "preventable deaths" between white and black women. I would assume that when controlled for obesity and diabetes, mortality rates between black and white women in our country would nearly disappear. So, how can we pick the low hanging fruit in this scenario and actually reduce maternal mortality, particularly for black women? By requiring more implicit bias and "Whiteness 101" trainings in hospitals, or by attacking our ever increasing obesity and diabetes rates across the board in our country regardless of race. I'll also note that obesity/diabetes rates in our nation (for all races, but particularly for black Americans) saw their most rapid increases around the 1960's and 1970's, precisely the time Civil Rights legislation was passed and the Great Society was implemented, or more bluntly, when systemic racism codified in US law was being specifically targeted and destroyed and federal government was rapidly expanding its social welfare/anti-poverty programs. To simply state there is a disparity = systemic racism, in my opinion is not helping and loving one's neighbor. It may actually be distracting us from cooperating on real-world solutions, and thus, hurting those we claim to care so much about. But that's just my opinion, and it probably shouldn't be debated...

Respectfully, the tagline for the podcast seems like an oxymoron. Racism will always exist because mankind has sin nature. I’m not tough enough to wade through this mostly political speak podcast however I think most of us can agree the world is not fair and certain segments of our culture get treated differently than others because of the culture not necessarily the color of their skin. I don’t agree with it but one if they’re honest has to at least contextualize why the police act much more defensively and aggressively with some cultures than others it’s not always because of their color.
