You’re welcome. You may need to tick the little invert button below the mask options, or make sure you’ve selected the right layer. Gets confusing sometimes. Hope this helps.

Have you made sure the footage is selected on the timeline and not on a layer above it? I've made that mistake a few times.

Make sure you’ve selected the clip and not an adjustment layer.

Do you have access to an external monitor? Anything with false colour to help expose your footage correctly.

@@MisterHenry Yes I have different monitors with False color build-in, but I think sometimes they are different. Can you expose with the monitor and 709 and with false color. Would that be sufficient enough when it is a lut applied? Or do you use waveforms?

@@Nqrgaard False colour is so handy to nail exposure. I use a slog3 to rec709 LUT on the monitor so I can see what the final result will be when I colour correct. Try to nail your skin tones to around 70 IRE on your false colour spectrum (colours vary on different monitors).

@@MisterHenry okay thanks I usually do that with my GH5. With that I can also use my zebras to check if anything are overexposed. But I heard that FS7 should be 1 stop brighter, I am just uncertain how to see its 1 stop brighter and if that works. Let’s say I don’t have people in my shot. I can’t expose for the skin tones.

@@Nqrgaard No worries, That's when the LUT on your monitor comes into play. You'll be able to see what is overexposed on your false colour too. obviously overexposed areas will be in red. The FS7 is quite forgiving as you have more dynamic range so you can recover a lot too.
