i wanted to come and say a big thank you, i forgot to put in the boot animation file and got confused then retraced my steps and figured out where i went wrong, now i have an upgraded xbox :D and the steps were easy once i kept doing them a few times. thank you for this video!

Sometimes when I put the boot animations in the A and B folders it takes and sometimes it doesn't. After installing OSU1 do you go through the setup process before pulling the drive to install the boot animation or do you pull the drive immediately after OSU1 and install? I also don't go through disk manager either. I just open up those folders after I connect the drive to my PC and copy of it over to both folders. But yea I've always struggled with it taking it probably about half the time.

How do I recover A and B folder on that partition if I lost it moved it somewhere and forget where it is? I think I extracted tithe animation to the A folder..but didn't get a change to do it to the B folder...now none of them come up anymore

@@jgvtc559 It might be the connector cable that is damaged - I have seen a few E106 errors recently and the drive was fine, but turned out to be the cable!

Hello, did everything, formatted the pendrive to ntfs put the $SystemUpdate on it but the offline system update button still greyed out for some reason.

Hello.. Probably either your USB pen drive is not formatted correctly, or the files are not in the correct folder - you must copy the folder and its contents to the root of the USB pen drive (do not copy just the contents)

As Mike Rae says, if it has been backed up then you will be able to restore after you log back in to your account.

If you have connected the drive back in to the xbox and powered it on, you will have more than just the admin.dat file in the folder - that is fine.

An E102 error usually means bad network or a bad system update... so, in theory yes, this will solve your issue if the issue is because of a bad update. I would double check all your network settings first though

I have a Xbox one x. Started getting the e105 and 106 and 102 what not. I instilled a new ssd, and did the osu1. That seemed to solve the problem. Everything worked great for 3 months or so. Now it’s starting to have the same game saving issues, and giving me these errors again. It will sometimes boot back up and play, but slow issues and the OS seems to have issues again and same errors. This ssd was brand new. So do I have that 1 out of 10 issues and my BIOS and MB system is corrupted. And if so you don’t really address what solves that in your video. Thanks so much, kind of ready to throw the Xbox away, after I pull the new ssd back out. Would love some good new.

Hi Trent - unfortunately, there are some occasions when (as you rightly point out) the NAND BIOS on the motherboard is corrupt/faulty and even replacing the hard drive will not resolve the issue. I have only seen this a few times and it is worth trying the process a few times as you might get lucky and the process will re-write the NAND successfully.

bruh that's what's happening to me right now. OMG finally someone has the same problems. Mine was fine cause i did an ssd swap too but then the drive kept getting corrupt. Like it would make slow downloads and frequent game crashes. Before u know it im already back to offline updating with the same usb. All my files are correct and ik how to do it cause i did it the few times already. It allows me to click offline system update when i plug in the usb drive but then it will only update like half way or 70% and then stop. But now when i click it it just says eror e101. I guess something else is messed up. idk anything about NAND BIOS but It makes me so sad. I just wanted to finish the witcher 3 in 4k... :(

You can attempt to format the old drive, but the drive may have failed due to degradation or other issues. When drives fail they are no longer reliable and the system will be unable to access the data needed to run properly. Best practice is to replace with a new drive.

So I’m trying to do this and I got the e100 error over and over, I saw your other reply and yes the optical drive will take and eject games, so now I’m confused. Using a old laptop hard drive that I formatted and un-partitioned. Also when I tried to extract all files both folders for Xbox one S and One X showed up in the system update partition. (I added them after thinking maybe they would fix the issue but no)

Hi - I take it the optical drive is the original drive (and has not been swapped)? If so, what make/model hard drive are you using? Is it a Toshiba hard drive?

@@ConsoleTherapy yes it is the OG and it’s a HGST drive. But I ended up redoing the update again and now it works however I have another issue that I’ll copy and paste in another reply because it’s long

@@ConsoleTherapy Okay so not sure if this is hardware or software but my Xbox won’t load some games, and the wifi connection was supppperr slow like Kbps when every other Xbox I’ve had had had my full 250Mbps on wifi, well with the games not loading/crashing I assumed the HDD was faulty as that’s what I read about. Replaced it and did a whole debacle of BS and finally got the new hdd to run probably, however, it will absolutely refuse to launch fortnite (free game since I used to have game pass I don’t own many “newer” ones that would push the Xbox) but it did launch and run rocket league just fine. Any thoughts? Just trying to get this to work for now till I can get a new GPU but I’m starting to think the Xbox main system/GPU may actually be faulty

An E100 error usually points to a optical drive/motherboard mismatch - they are paired devices. Make sure the optical drive is re-connected correctly and that it accepts a game disc

I cant actually get it to update, ive got the right file, brand new SSD which ive checked and does work, but i go to update it and it fails at one percent and then after a few seconds the light starts to blink which freezes the troubleshoot menu and then it turns itself off, is that a bad NAND then i assume?

@@sixintan same sort of thing mine did, I ended up leaving it and blaming it down to the motherboard, there must be something that went wrong with it for it to have to happen in the first place because that hard drive still works perfectly fine so

weird how its all of a sudden hitting so many people, i for one havent used my xbox for a year, randomly it turns itself on and took 10 minutes to display the E106 error. I also lost a HDD on my pc about 3 weeks back randomly, weird shit is going on and i dont get it, i have a surge protected system

Any 2.5" hard drive will work as long as it is between 500GB and 2TB in capacity. Your 1TB drive will work no problems.

Nice thanks. Has anyone tried a hard drive clone/toaster to try to clone the damaged hard drive onto a new hard drive? I have a drop in clone device/toaster and plan to give it a go but was just curious. For PC's with bad hard drives I've recovered a few this way when the hard drive is near failing, but sometimes its too far gone and can't be recovered.

Im having this issue after replacing the motherboard on my xbox one x. would a new hdd still fix this, or could this be something else? motherboard was apparently working for the seller.

Hi Steve - after replacing a motherboard, you will need to reload the OSU1 file back on to the hard drive as the OS version on the motherboard you installed will be different to the version on your hard drive - so before you try a new hard drive, copy the OSU1 file to a USB stick (like shown on the video) and install - that should do the trick

@@ConsoleTherapy It was the E100 error code. Edit: It looks like the second it restarts and attempts to write in the new files, after downloading and verifying, it pops the E100 code.

You can run the process of reinstalling the OSU1 from USB without replacing the hard drive, however, if this works, it will only be a temporary fix as it is likely your hard drive has bad sectors.

I have a question, so I just removed the old hard drive from a client's Xbox One. And in your video it shows you put an entirely new HDD in your Xbox One after extracting the OSU1 files. But there is no way to format the old hard drive to make it like new and then put the OSU1 Files on the USB Drive so it can install the new OSU Update on the console's hard drive itself? The Old Drive has E106 error but when I read it with the USB device to connect my Hard drive of mines, it still reads quite well alongside all the partitions. So is there a way to save that old drive once it gets the E106 or we really have to get a brand new drive to replace it and then install the update? Let me know.

Hi - thanks for watching the video and the question. You can certainly can just wipe the old hard drive (open Disk Management and delete all the partitions) - however, bear in mind if the Xbox is showing E106 errors it is probably because of bad sectors on the hard drive. Wiping it will not fix bad sectors, so the error will probably just show up again after using the Xbox for a while.

@@ConsoleTherapy okay so you are saying that even if I format that drive after deleting all the partitions, the bad sectors will still be there cause of a faulty hardware issues from the hard drive itself? It is a hard drive of 2015 so I can understand if it's wearing out by now. It's from an Original Xbox One. If you were in my shoes, would you prefer to get a new hard drive at this point? I guess I can try to delete the partitions soon and then format. You let me know what you believe would be the best course of action. Cause I was stuck deciding one over the other.

The boot animation provided by you doesn't work as it's too outdated. I found this out as I recovered the animation file from the old, corrupted hard drive that was in my Xbox and copied it over to my new SSD and it worked, unlike the one provided. I see a small size difference between both animation files so my conclusion is likely accurate. Anyone doing this should know that the animation file will be added through an automatic update, so until then if you don't have any other option you should wait for a new update and you'll have your boot animation.

@@rearmisser hi, the USB stick is fine cause I already used with the original hdd xbox and works for the update . But I canta make IT with the ssd. I already evento clone the hdd to ssd and nothing . Ssd is 100% with crystalinfo. So idk why, my finals conclusion is that the ssd is not compatible some how. Its an Adata blue 1tb

Originally my mechanical harddrive failed. My SSD I installed worked fine until I started getting e102, e106, e105 type errors all the time. I changed the hard drive to a brand new SSD and still the same errors.

it may be the 2 outlet connector that connects the hardrive to the system they have been know to fail it may not be the hard drive at all. It costs about 40 use on eBay for that part

@@MrAlanGNR another video showed me how to cut the Xbox adapter in half and only keep the power side. I installed a PC SATA cable and hooked everything back up and it's been working flawlessly for a month now. Apparently the OG Xbox sata cable would fail after some time.
