In India, we have started mid day meals which works as an incentive for primary and secondary school students to not drop out. Also, many provinces provide free cycles and school uniforms to girls to come to school. Central government has made RTE a law and every private school across India has to keep certain percentage of the seats in each grade for students from weaker sections of the society.

My mother served as teacher in Punjab govt sector all her life. And let me tell you the one of the core problems of our education system is the lack of passion in our teachers. My mother worked so hard and often went out of the way to inspire girls to continue education and not drop out. She personally gave incentives to her students. Asked us( we were schooled in the best of the best schools) to give her ideas on how to teach her students in a better way. She had the opportunity of establishing a new girls school in a very run down area and there were numerous challenges and she tirelessly worked to promote enrollment and created funds to provide sweaters, bags and amenities to children. What I'm trying to say is if our teachers are poor, the quality difference between the public and private sector will grow by light years.

Lovely to see professsor bari. I did a field trip with him and took a course as well and the depth of the person and the humbleness is legendary. I would wonder though - we are also educating individuals in a variety of schools, colleges and universities and leaking them from the country in the form of brain drain. Would an emphasis on education curb that flow or we have to create other incentives for that to happen

Yar idk much but if a privileged person wants to help out he should first influence children towards education. Ap ek ya do needy bachon ka education ka kharcha needs wagera sub kuch uss ek ya do bache ko do. Achi school ka khud search krk usko uss school mei admission dilwado. Do as much as you can afford for that kid. Ek ya do bache k education ka kharcha bhi ajkal lakh sei oupr chala jata lekin agr log zakat o khairat ya achi achi asashon pei ithna paisa laga sakte toh ap k liye ek bache ki education expenses uthana koi ithni bari mushkil nhi ho sakti

What were u guys doing during Pre-independence Pak geography of current time!??? My Grandma was a qualified Chartered accountant went on to learn software programming in her 50's😊. Shehzad , when i listen to your podcasts there is so much of opportunity with pakistan and its people. The only problem is that the politicians and military is just stopping the progress of pakistan. Basically people who are rising into the power are totally opposite idealogy of the people you are interviewing. Maybe consider interviewing the people that no one wants to interview or come with extreme views so that they can see the mirror

Believe it or not religion plays a huge role in education in South Asia...if you see the literacy rate of Bengali Hindus and Bengali Muslim in 1980,1990,2010 you will see a huge difference even in 2023 the gap is more than 15% and You can look at The Punjabi communities you will see the same difference...you can't change the religion but mindset can be changed 🤞

@@NEELESH_PATEL599 Madarsa is the best for Pakistanis It gives real education, and take you away from this material world towards heaven and teaches the student to strive to get his own 72 Hoors. It is true education unlike what is taught in private schools.

Instead of looking at Bangladesh or Sri Lanka why not look at northern area of Pakistan where not a single person was educated in 1970. Today they are 100% educated. Ask Ismaili (Aga Khani) how they did it. AKDN is the world largest Philanthropic organization in the world with Three university and more than three hundred school all over the world. Call AKDN representative ask him how the hell they achieved such a success in Pakistan. Purpose of yellow buses in USA is not education they are not there to bring student to school for education. Yellow Buses in America are there so Black student can be taken to White majority school or vice versa so segregation can be avoided.

Please share the portion on vouchers as a part of the clips. I think too many of these suggestions are part of a top down approach from pollicy makers with a very limited perspective. Miftah Ismail's suggestion seems to be a bit vague and based on anecdotal evidence.

We in India too have to go through the local language issue. We have more languages in this country than in Pakistan. The educationists came up with a three language formula where in the student learns English, their local language and a third language of any other state/Sanskrit/or a foreign language. One should remember that language is only a medium through which the child learns other important subjects like Math, Science and Social studies. I personally feel one only one language should be mandatory (English) and a second language could be taught which could be the child's mother tongue. Instead of using their valuable time to acquire the knowledge of a third language they could learn other important subjects.
