Nice work as always pazi88, i just did this job myself just some days ago. Here is what i did different than you. I used an plastic expansion plug for concrete fastening to get the metal pin out. First i had to cut off a little from the end of the plastic plug to make it work. And instead of replacing the bushing after i got the pin out, i cut off the bolt head that came with the expansion plug set and had the pin attached on the plastic plug. I then attached a drill where the bolt head was and just sanded down the pin with fine sandpaper and a little cutting oil, 240 grit then 400. i locked the drill in a wise and locked the speed on it, then just wrap the sandpaper around the pin. It takes very little before it sits perfect. Make sure to cool down the pin before testing in the housing as it gets very hot. Anyway it worked very well for me :) Keep bringing such videos, they are great and very informative. greets from Norway :)

Thank you for the video. I got a question. I got a 00 BMW X5 4.4. for the pass week the car feel like the tranny is about to go it feel like it's under heavy load. The car doesn't pickup speed like it used to..I scan it no codes and fluid doesn't smell ..any ideas

For getting the pin out, a die grinder collet and a screw is a good way to get hold of it.

Any recommendation for a E36 323 compact 1999? Im thinkin about a turbo convertion or switching to different motor. Any thought of wich is best?

A 2.8 swap is bolt on. I would start with that and then see from there.

Hi, do you think this would be possible with the gearbox still in the car if i cut the tap down and threaded two nuts on to the tap andn used them to withdraw the shift pin ? do you remember what size tap you used ?

I don't think it's possible. There is so little room there

We did this same fix with different way: We first took protecting caps off, then we pulled those pistons off. After that i carefully sanded with wet / dry sandpaper those slider surfaces parts still inside gearbox. When there was correct amount of slack between piston and bearing. Some grease and caps back. Works perfectly. Me tehtiin aikanaan tämä sama homma 328i cabrioon foorumilta löytyneellä metodilla, varovasti hiomapaperilla noita liukupintoja hioi, se ei vaatinut paljoakaan hiomista että holkit alkoi liikkua notkeasti. Hieman rasvaa väliin ja korkit kiinni. Eli siis me ei purettu muuta kun korkit irti ja pihdeillä veti nuo liikkuvat holkit pois. Sitten hioi ne laatikon puoleiset liukupinnat. Laatikko toimii tänäkin päivänä 4-5v myöhemmin. Tämä toki on varmasti parempi tapa korjata vika.

Juu se tehtiin joskus 4-5v takaperin ja edelleen toimii tosi hyvin. :) Kuten sanoin ei varmasti paras tapa mutta melko helppo tehdä.

awesome videos. my e36 m3 gearbox does the exact same thing. I figure I'll pull the motor and trans, do this pin, clutch, lifters, head gasket, and a more aggressive cam. anything I'm missing that I should do at the same time? any specific clearances I should check?

Connecting rod bearings would be good to change. Those normally have some wear and aren't very expensive to change. And check that nothing isn't worn too much. like deep grooves in the chain followers.

thanks for the wealth of info you provide. the only thing that confuses me with the CR bearings is the different sizing. can I use oem size bearings without issue or do I need to measure tolerances and use a +size bearing because of worn crank surfaces.

The OEM bearings come in different sizes and colors. And the colors just tell more accurate size. But you can just order Glyco rod bearing kit in STD size from eBay. Those are OEM bearings also. And if you want to be sure are your bearings in STD size before ordering, disassemble the engine and check the numbers form the bearings. My gearbox is a getrag gearbox on an E46, with the yellow label, and my neutral return spring is not working, would this fix it?

Should work for that too. The pins are just on the other side of the gearbox. Like I show in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q8lhmrulsbywc2w.html

Problem is to find lift and gearbox support to get it off. I've also got this annoying lean, you think changing oil will fix it ?

Cool guy Yes I have taken off transmissions many times just by jacking the car up to regular jack stands. It's bit annoying but can be done.

Mitenkäs kun mulla e36 325 coupessa kolmosvaihde on kranttu menemään silmään.. onko samaa vikaa? Oikein sievästi kun houkuttelee niin ei rusahda.. useimmin rusahtaa kun vaihtaa alaspäin..

325:ssa on getragin laatikko ja siinä on vähän ominaisuutena, että jos kerran tempasee huonosti vaihteen päälle, niin se alkaa rusahtelemaan. Toki sen voi korjatakkin, uusimmalla syncro renkaat, mut varmaan helpompi ja halvempi laittaa ehjä tilalle.

Meikällä keppi on tosi löysä sekä pakille että vitoselle ja jumittaa., S5d 310z itsellä, käykö tuo samalla varaosanumerolla oleva setti itsellekkin. Fbssä kyselin ja oli puhetta että siellä on 3 korkkia ja kaikki pitäisi vaihtaa?

Pitäs käydä myös siihen. Ja ne yläpuolella olevat tapit on muistaakseni vain kepin edes-takas liikettä varten. En oo niitä ite vaihtanu ikinää, kun ei oo ollu niissä ongelmaa.

I think yes, but this issue isn't as common as in ZF gearboxes.

Mitäs öljyä suosittelet ZF310 laatikkoon, elikkäs juuri tuohon keltalätkäiseen, eikä ZF320, missä oranssi ATF lätkä... Kelpaakohan perus Castrol 75W80 API GL4? Hieman piristettyyn katuautoon tulossa tosiaan... Monet suosittelevat tuota Redlinen MTL, mutta onko moinen rahan arvoista...

JVEEM keltalätkäiseen bemarin mtf lt-2 ja oranssilätkäiseen atf dextron III öljyä. Niillä nuo lootat on tarkoitettu pelaamaan ja jos ei pelaa, niin sit on lootassa vikaa.

Terve, mulla on 95 mallin E36 328i jossa lienee tuo sama ZF laatikko ja katselin tuota tarraa videossa jossa lukee "life time oil, no oil change". Autolla ajettu 211tkm eli olisko syytä kuitenkin vaihtaa? Mitä öljyä?

Keltanen tarra? Ei kyllä tuon ikäsessä pitäs vielä olla kuin oranssi tarra. No kuitenkin keltasella tarralla olevaan lootaan menee bemarin oma MTF-LT2 öljy, mutta sitä nyt ei oikeastikkaan tarvi vaihtaa. Lisää jos on vajaana. Mutta oranssilla tarralla olevaan menee ATF dextron 3 öljyä ja niitä kannattaa joskus vaihtaa. Varsinkin kun ko. öljy on tosi halpaa.

Mikä tuon laatikon mallimerkintä olikaan? Muistelen että tuota ZF:n viis'lovista laatikkoo on myös joissain takavetoisissa Volvoissakin.

Tuota S5D:tä on kyllä, mutta tuo loppunumero tarkoittaakin juuri BMWn sovitusmalli.

Nepä on ajatellu saksalaiset että tuolla ajetaan 5 vuotta / 200tkm ja sit lyyään paaliin. Niin on ne ikiöljyt siinä tapauksessa :D Mutta eipä bemarin insinöörit aatellu että 20 vuotta valmistuksen jälkeen joku pulttaa ko. laatikon ~700 heppaseen e30:n raatoon :D

Ei oo missään autossa vakiona KDFI:tä. Se on megasquirttiin perustuva aftermarket moottorinohjaus.

tulipa tässä videota katsoessa että kaverilla on jäänyt 525i e34 perästä zf loota ylimääräseks ja tuosta korista löytyy 310z ja 320z nii mistä tuon voisi tunnistaa kumpi tuo mahtaa sitte olla

Käsittääkseni m50 perässä on aina se 310z jos siinä on ZF. Mut en tiedä mistä ne erottaa ja mitä käytännön eroa niillä on.

Joo se realoem näyttää monesti vaikka ja mitä eri laatikkovaihtoehtoja :D Tuon 320z lootan se näyttää melkeen jokaiselle m5x moottorille, vaikka ainakaan suomessa niitä ei ole ollu läheskään kaikkien moottorien perässä.

Turboahdettu Vaatiihan se aika harrastaja henkisen dynopaikan, että saa kikkailtua oikeat numerot lappuihin. Ja konttorilla tahtoo tulla napinaa että mahtaako pitää tehot paikkansa. Mut jos on oikeat paperit mukana ja muutojset tehty asiallisesti, niin ei oo ollu ongelmaa.
