How To Fix The Scanner Is in Use or Unavailable E1460-B305 in Epson Scanner

To Fix the error message that says The Scanner Is in Use or Unavailable, please wait E1460-B305 when you open Epson Scanner Software in your Windows 10 or Windows 11, please follow one of these methods:
Method 1:
Find the Epson scan icon located on the desktop - Right-click on it - Select “Properties” - On the ‘Epson scan Properties’ wizard, click on the “Compatibility tab” - See if “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” is checked. If it is checked uncheck the box - Then click “OK”
Method 2:
Click “Start” menu - open “Run” command box” - type services.msc - Once the Services window appears, scroll down and find “Windows Image Acquisition service (WIA)” - open it - under the General tab click “Stop” then set the startup type as “Automatic” if it is not so - click “Apply” then “Start” then “OK”.
Method 3:
Click “Start” menu - click “Device Manger” - expand “Imaging Devices” - right click on the scanner driver software and update the same as described in this video.

First method worked great. The box was un-checked. So I checked it, apply, ok, then un-checked it and applied, ok. Solved the problem. Thank you again.

Thank you so much!!! The second fix helped a bit - it let me scan through the "start" button mentioned in the video (good for emergencies, but not convenient and it would only scan one page at a time which is terrible for multipage documents). But the third fix seems to have brought the scanner back to its original function. Hooray!

Great Job - thanks so much! Before your second method worked for me I could only get the scanner to work by rebooting the computer each time with the scanner plugged in. The problem seems to be that the scanner is supplied with a USB 2 cable and Windows 11 wants a USB 3 one before it will work. And I can't find an similar micro USB 3 cable - even on AMAZON.

I'm having this issue and judging from the comments I'm really hoping #2 will help me, however when I open the Windows Image Acquisition properties, the Service status says Starting and the Start, Stop, Pause and Resume buttons are all greyed out and not able to be pushed. I'm thinking this is the issue, but how do I fix it when it's stuck in "Starting" and I cant Stop it?
