I have easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials "do it yourself" (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed whacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.
I have the largest Small Engine Repair Video Library on KZfaq and the entire internet with over 1200 videos, just GOOGLE "DONYBOY73"!

Excellent stuff TY Don! I just fixed the speed cable on my 11 month old snow blower myself using some hardware, and 3/16 bulk wire cable. Many of these parts are made quite cheaply, I believe the intent is to create a perpetual revenue stream for the manufacturers.

Hey Dony, I just spent a couple of hours cleaning and greasing my fiddle steer boxes, after your video reminded me to do so. Thanks for providing so much good info. With a little luck, I may never have to replace a steering cable! By the way, I discovered that the cover on the steering unit on the other side has a 3rd attachment point, which is a large nut. Don't just try to pull the cover after removing those two 5/16 bolts! And for whoever mentioned putting anti-seize on the axle before reinstalling the wheel, I am happy to say that these machines with fiddle steer don't suffer from the wheel seizing that regular axles do. Mind you, I still cleaned the axle with steel wool and put a bit of grease on it. It certainly can't hurt. Cheers from Ottawa.

Someone left a 2010 version of that blower at our scrap dropoff. Had wrong auger belt on it , stripped bucket bolt and broken electric starter plug. All fix and ready for resale. Engine runs fine. No carb issue surprisingly.

I learned one thing this weekend don’t buy cheap belts for your snowblower. I had bought a drive and auger belts from tsc for my Ariens snowblower trying my best to get the same sizes . They were a little to big and were making lots of noise. Thank god i bought the factory one even if they were over $50 for both . Lesson learned

I enjoy watching your videos even if you're showing a product that I don't own. I figure I can use the knowledge I obtained from your videos and apply it to another piece of power equipment with similar mechanical design(s) that I might not be familiar with. Are you able to tell me what type of red grease was used on the wheel axle?

Hey Don, Thanks for another awesome vid. I have been looking into the various steering mechanisms or freewheels on snowblowers. I recently had an older Ariens with a sleeve over the inner shaft that was seized right up. I could find very little on this type of steering. Any chance you could explain how some of these systems work? Cheers

Thanks Don. This fixes an issue I have had and your instructions and video are clear and helpful as always. Although here in Eastern Ontario we dug our way out during the Christmas weather bomb and it is now 'Spring like' atm - I'm sure there will be plenty of snow to come. A working steering mechanism will be put to good use before this winter is through with us. Thanks for your help! -Steve-

Your comment had me smiling because Donyboy being located in Muskoka, he sure had a front row seat to witness the late snow storm in Eastern Ontario. In fact, in the past 10 days or so, the published a few videos of his clearing his driveway covered with about 50 cm of the white stuff. Regards !

I got replacement cable at ctc for 23$. Dealer price 45. Ctc version handle doesn't have the threaded insert for the 3/16 mounting bolt. The hole in plastic was too small for self tapping. I had to drill with 5/32 and tap to 3/16.

Too bad that people can't just buy the lever or just the cable to replace whichever is needed or both. The lever and cable housing could have been sold separately as well, but they apparently only come preassembled. However, piece parts could cost more than the assembly, but as long as the piece part you need is cheap than the assembly, you'd be making out. If the lever and cable together cost more, then just buy the assembly. So many things only come as assemblies these days. It's like a carburetor rebuild kit is so much cheaper than a new carb, especially an OEM. No snow for me, but I always watch, Like and comment to help you with the KZfaq algorithm. A Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and yours!

@donyboy73 Have you ever disassembled the "power steering" on a older husqvarna snow blower. My one wheel on the right side is skipping as if I am engaging the power steering on that side, you can hear a skipping noise. I notice they talk about adding a thrust washer to take out the extra slop in the system. Have you heard of that? My cable is good and has the appropriate slack, not too tight.
