A million thanks. I have zero knowledge of the inside workings of laptops and was very apprehensive about attempting to fix it myself for the first time. My laptop fell a couple of feet and when I powered it up, the screen went blank and the laptop kept beeping continuously 8 beeps. I finally got up the courage to try fixing it after watching your video a couple of times. Sure enough, the display cable was loose and after clicking it in place and putting everything back together, the display was back to normal. However I did something careless. I flipped the keyboard cable when reattaching it, and it took a few frustrated tries detaching and reattaching it before I realized it was flipped. After it was attached correctly, laptop was as good as new. It was a very satisfying learning experience. Felt really good that I managed to fix the laptop on my own following your instructions. Thanks again.

Haven't tried this fix yet, but THANK YOU for the video, which relieves a lot of frustration for me, just knowing what the problem is.My screen will actually work if I twist the screen and hold it, but that gets very awkward and uncomfortable after a while.I will give the fix a try and let you know how it went!

I was mortally scared when one fine afternoon (literally right now) i turned on my laptop (Acer Aspire) to find this white screen. I never suspected that little pin because i just replaced my LCD 2 days ago. Well your video proved that the pin is indeed the culprit. But lots of thanks anyway. Else i would have had to open it up entirely. Saved a lotta time. It's frustrating and scary when you have so much of work to do and your computer behaves like this.

Hi. what about if I turn on my laptop then it works for a good 3-4 mins, but then the screen slowly fades to white starting from the sides. screen freezes but the audio is still there. is this fix applicable with that? Thanks for the answers. :)

Just force restart it(press and hold the start button in your laptop) for 5-10 seconds then start it up again.Done. Well i don’t know sometimes doesnt work

I have more of a solid gray screen on a Vostro 3700 (white if I increase brightness). I reseated both ends of the LVDS cable between mainboard and LCD panel with no luck, before watching this. I also wiggled the connectors on both ends with the PC booted up and the screen remains gray. However, it works on an external monitor via HDMI out. I'm going to give the "D" + Power Button a shot. If that does not work, my last attempt is to take a close look at the connector pin out. The CPU heatsink is hot at idle which makes me wonder if it had gotten hot enough while under load to melt a solder joint on the mainboard LVDS out connector. I could try to give it a little heat with a SMD desolder heat gun... The LED/LCD panel could also perhaps have issues with the internal ribbon cable connections that border the lower edge of the screen. I've had these fail on televisions. If I find a resolution I'll share my results.

Hey, thanks for the video. My dell 1500 serious laptop screen, giving trouble. I have to move the screen and find a perfect spot where it works.. mostly tilt it and mush up and down quickly. I have tried the Diagnostics test(passed), external Screen works fine. What could be wrong?

hello, i am facing a problem when i start my laptop it shows white screen, but laptop is working in background. Then, after few minutes of hit & trail.( removing n applying battery, connecting to AC source, sometime without AC source) the display start working. Once it is okay, i do not face any problem until i shut down again and reopen the laptop after sometime. If i restart, i do not face any problem. could you help me identify where is the problem ? FYI: This prob start coming when i opened my laptop after a month.

guess what this happened to me and i found a way easier way to fix it and i did it twice but it took a few trys alll you do it turn it on in the white screen and you press the power button untill it makes a sound and close your laptop and open it back up and turn it on if it doesnt work the first time just keep trying but it sould work because this is the way for me to fix my white screen

hi can anyone help me my laptop showed this white screen post which I turned it off upon restarting ,it didn't seem to turn on but only the light appears (tiny light representing laptop is on) and nothing else happens further when it turned off I put it on charging post 20 mins of which the indicator showed me the batters is full now even it's not even charging but my charger is fine. Also I have not encountered any problems with my battery so far. Can someone having first hand experience suggest something in this regard and share the probable causes of this issue. thank your appreciate your help p.s I tried removing the static ( basic troubleshooting) but it didn't work out

The quick fix is very easy. Remove the battery and disconnect the power cord (from the laptop! not the wall outlet). Press power button for a few second. Connect the power cord. Press the power button to start and then dock the battery.

sometimes i press to hard on the same spot and it works, you don’t have to take all pieces off, i think the problem is too much dust

i have a notebook that has that kind of problem. White screen appears after playing game and looks that the graphic card burned. I dont understand what changes to your laptop when u plug out the cable and plug in again... is there a problem with the connections that are not cleaned? the white screen is not burned graphic card?

Im currently troubleshooting this white screen issue. Ive tried redoing the connection to the motherboard several timee, no success.
