Thank you for your video! It worked!!! I had a warped Porsche 918 body. It has a delicate windshield surround and I didn't want to damage it so I was extra cautious. It took four passes of being in the pot to 'heat bubbles' on the bottom of the pot, but no bubbles on the surface of the water. Several minutes each time, remove from the water and gentle torque opposite the direction of the 'warp'. Initially I thought it was not working, then on the third time I noticed at least a 50% improvement. Each time I made sure I held the model in 'straightened position' until it cooled completely. That took only about 1 minute or less. By the 4th time it was perfectly straightened! :)! I placed the model on the table top to assess straightness each time. Thanks again for your video and explanation!!!

This is a very good tip Jimmy. Just to add to your tip, once you get the body the way you want it. Dunk it in cold water. That sets it instantly. This will also work on resin bodies as well.

I am 46 and just got back into the modeling hobby. I like to do race cars and they often come with warped bodies. Thank you so much as this worked to the tee. I will be looking at more of your videos in the future to help me.

Richard Wons Thanks for your video. You are the Man. I'm 70 years old got back into it. You were the only one on You Tube that helped untwist bodies. Thanks

Lat to the party here, thanks for this vid, recently bought the AMT 67 Shelby, body is quite badly warped, had slightly warped shells in the past but they always straightened out when on the chassis (like the Revell 71 Mustang i recently done), this 67 is just too bad for that so going to try this method later.

Thanks fast jimmy... Just did it and let it sit for 2 seconds in the hot boiling pot with water. And I trying to bend it a bit with some support to hold such as some light heavy boxes. And with out your tip, I would of been disappointed at the eBay seller who sells me 4 beat up model kits lol

I`m happy to tell you it worked like a champ! Can I tell the guys in my car model club about this video Thank you!.

thanks for the tip man! I have had some frames warped before and I set the them down on a flat surface and shoot it with a hair dryer,but never a body yet.
@kidmack11216 жыл бұрын
luvalotathrottle Did you get around to trying Jimmies tip on bent windshield frames? I bought a vacuum formed uptop for AMT's 66 7litre Galx over twenty five years ago, cut the hardtop off, lost interest and put it back in the box. And then after seeing the real car a couple of weeks back on the old Hazel reruns, went in the hall closet looking for the kit, and found it and found that the box collapsed and bent the frame on one side...bad! Want to try to repair it instead of buying a replacement. Have any tried and true remedies?

Thanks for the tutorial. I was gonna try this on a part on an old Aurora ship model. The kit is rather expensive and I was afraid off ruining my part at which point I’d have been screwed. It’s actually the two halves of the ship’s boat. They are so warped there was no way I could get them to meet up. I really didn’t want to have to spend another $250 for a whole other kit. I guess I’m gonna give this a try.

Good idea but your execution has to be perfect for it to work in your favor, cause my part went from a bad bend warp to irreversibly damaged. Also it seems to have no work time cause as soon as I pulled it out it had completely solidified again as if nothing happened

Will this work on a primed part?
@antoniomontana94303 жыл бұрын
It should but you'll most likely need to sand and reprime the part after twisting back into shape.
@antoniomontana94303 жыл бұрын
Another way is to use a heat gun set on low power but you need to do it fast so as not to melt the plastic.

I was wondering if my girl's body get warped can I just put her in boiling water and twist her into shape? My liking?
@billgator2005 Жыл бұрын
just tried this on a testarossa body to correct a warp... DON'T HOLD YOUR MODEL BODY WITH TONGS!!!! when the plastic softens the tongs will crush the body. hold it with your fingers just on a well balanced point with no weight on the point. with fingers just out of the water. by the time your fingers start to get too hot it's ready to reshape. boil the water and turn off. that's plenty hot. now my body is straight but i have a messed up roof and side panels where the tongs collapsed it. A pillars are a b!@#$tch to get back in shape again. it works great but don't hold with the tongs!!
@jamesbunch99643 жыл бұрын
I'm gonna try this on my 1/16th Green Elephant Vega!!! Yeah, it's warped... but not for long, I hope. Still well worth the money. Highly recommend picking up a case! Just kidding... thanks Jimmy. Brian is correct. It's 'tong' but I kinda like 'thong'! Who's got five ones for a five?

Don't try this with a resin body. Resin does not like heat. Even a couple of seconds can make the resin lose it's shape completely, or bubble, or just plain turn soft.
@davehollamon19858 жыл бұрын
