I had to have one, then it wouldn’t run a full mag:(
Now it runs a full mag like a champ and it was super easy to fix. Lemme know how it works for you.

To the folks saying oil is bad. Keltec uses glass reinforced Zytel which is a nylon polymer. It is highly resistant to petroleum. Nylon resins are extremely resistant to oils and fuels. Although nylon resins absorb some of them depending on the kind of the resins, there are no observable degradation and permanent chemical change. Zytel in particular gets an A rating for oil resistance. Lube away.

Many people do not realize they need to at least oil their new gun before shooting it. I go a lot further. First I polish every moving part where it touches another part, starting with 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper and ending with 2000 (yes this is probably excessive, but it sure doesn't hurt.) All the work I do takes less than an hour. -- Magazine: polish the feed lips and the front edge. I also polished the four areas of the follower where you indicated to oil it, where it slides along the magazine body. -- Internal parts: polished the railings on both slide and frame; the top of the ejector; the hammer; the part that cocks the hammer, both the curve at the rear which hits the hammer and pushes it rearward, and the rest of it, that the hammer slides along in order to cock. Polished the feed ramp and the rear edge of the chamber, the whole circle, to improve feeding. Then I lightly oiled all the friction points that I polished, except the feed ramp/chamber. -- In the first 100 rounds, I had four feed fails on the ammo. Two with 20 rounds of old Winchester Dynamax 40gr, and two with 80 rounds of CCI Gamepoint 40gr. After that I shot about 20 rounds each or Norma 40gr and Hornady Critical Defense 45gr, no issues at all. I think it's good to go now. I repeat, all this took an hour or less, maybe 30 seconds per piece of sandpaper--400, 800, 1500 and 2000 grit. I do some version of this to every new gun I buy before ever firing it. Basically I am breaking it in before ever firing a shot. Saves on using ammo as the break-in method. I do some of this on used guns too, as needed. -- I never load my mags to maximum, always max -1, just on general principles to avoid any issues with too much spring tension.

I have put Mcarbo kit in mine. The most critical pieces they sell separately is a metal feed ramp (OEM is plastic) and a stronger mag release cause there’s too much slop in the OEM catch

Great info. !00% accurate. I took your advice and field stripped it, oiled it lightly as you stated and it ran flawlessly. I loaded one mag with CCI 40 grain, and the other with CCI 30 grain soft tips. I put 25 rounds in each mag, and both ran without ant issues. I wii do this each time before I take it out and shoot it. The other thing that makes a big difference is holding it with a tight grip. The lightweight nature of the frame causes your hand to be the weight that the slide is working against. Any limp wristing will cause malfunctions. Happy shooting and thanks for the comment!

Absolutely hysterical. Gods honest truth been simply trying to get one in the chamber for about 45 minutes (I’m not a beginner to say the least). Watched your video and wow. The gun really does feel totally different now. Feels like my heavier Walther poly with the slide - you and dad get my genius vote for 2023. The materials they use in this gun (and cars & planes) is polyamide which is an extremely chemical resistant nylon so I have no worries about degrading. Thank you 🙏 PS - I have old school oilers in 3 rooms filled with the same 3 in 1 but never thought to use it in my guns - for the simple reason I always had a “gun oil” around but no more 😂

I like this guyand his method for a fix of these problems for this PMR30. Everything he did seems to make sense and If you think about what he is saying, it sounds like it is too simple to be a real fix! Now I am thinking of purchasing a PMR30 and the only reason I have not purchased one, is because of the problems they show in these videos and also the bvery high price of 22Mag! I have two P17 Kel-Tec hand guns which have been Flawless in over 1000 rounds but I would also like to get a 22Mag Hand Gun and I just might try this PMR30 if I can find decent priced 22Mag Ammo!

I got mine new at a gun show and never had a jam. Ran whatever ammo was available because it was in short supply at the time. No issues. I oiled mine with Lucas or just regular gun oil from Academy. Some 1st gen pistols had the keyholing issue but I got the newer barely and just keep it clean. But sometimes you get a batch of lemons from some places with lower quality standards I suppose.

I really like mine. I find it easy to carry around because if it’s weight. I’m 230 lbs and I can conceal it pretty well if I slide it behind my belt on right side and angle it just right. It would be harder to conceal for a smaller person. I like to have it around my house when I’m working etc just in case and it being plastic I don’t worry much about a rainstorm blowing up if It’s in my tractor mounted holster. I would recommend it to country folk but I couldn’t recommend it to anyone who’s carrying to town etc, 22 mag is kinda long range for a self defense gun in close quarters public scenarios, imo.

First time out I couldn't get 2 shots of in a row. I lubed the gun up real good when I came home, but I also watched every fix video out there. So second time it I expected bad results, based on those videos. I pushed the mag bottom up into the gun to determine if the loose mag was the issue. With 45 grain, this worked. With 40 it also worked. So I assumed the loose mag was the issue. But I i tried shooting without pushing the mag up, and it still worked, 40 &45 grain. In fact, the gun shot every round I put in it without a failure. 200 rounds, hollow point, tapered point, high grain, low grain, no failure. Lube your gun.

Two suggestions 1. Try using Ballistol Oil ( my humble opinion is the best ). 2. Put a bead of glue on your magazines on the bottom of the ledge on the center back that locks it in the mag well. Unfortunately the magazines don’t lock securely and tend to hang too low in the grip making the top rd need to travel up the feed ramp too far. If there’s up and down play in the magazine this’ll fix it. You will probably need to file the glue bead to get a precise fit but it’s worth it!

Another thing that works good too, is to use car wax, or ceramic car wax on the magazine follower and body on the inside of course. Treat it like a car's paint job... apply, let dry, then buff off. Very slippery when finished. Use a small towel on the inside with the wax on it. Back and forth... back and forth, then buff., and reassemble. I wonder what this and the oil would do?

3in1 is a type of CLP so as long as the one you use does not have silicon in it your fine. I'm from rural MN when we go through gun safety you learn about gun care as a child. You learn if you don't oil your gun it will fail. I thought everyone knew this fact. I have a pmr30 I have never had one problem. The first thing you always do before using a new gun is look it over to see it functions well before firing it and oil it before use.

I think a lot of people would oil their pistol if it was wood with a blued barrel but when it becomes polymer people forget for some odd reason. Maybe because of glock. I’ve heard they require nothing to operate. Never owned one! My owners manual for PMR30 said one word in it about oil but it didn’t specify so that’s why I made this video!

Out where I'm at in mostly rural desert areas, you can pretty much grab anything out of the box and run it without very much oil mainly because of little to no humidity. Rust isn't very common on guns where I am unless you're storing your guns wet like you shouldn't be anyways.

The rounds in my mag push the “wings” (that hold the rounds in the clip) up. I guess the polymer is not strong enough. The wings are bent up so high the carrier hits the raised wing instead of the shell so that it doesn’t pick up a shell when it cycles

I squirt Graphite down the mags loaded with 20 rounds, about every 20 magazines. Seems to work good, mine has always run good with Hornady ammo, quit using other brands long ago. Getting oil up on the slide is a must too. The Hornady ammo does not fireball and fill your slide rails up with unburned powder like some ammo. Unfortunately not enough. If you are running CCI maxi mag or even the hunting hollow points most of the time, it will run fairly well, especially if you reduce your mags to 25. You switch to Hornady red tip or Winchester silver box, you are going to have issues at the top of the mag. Past 15 rds they will feed pretty much anything. The plastic ramp and mag release are your chief culprits. Swap those out and get a good speed loader and she will run like a sewing machine. I run an RDS on my PMR and my CMR, cleaning all that oil off the lenses is a no go for me. Good luck doing the work if you decide to upgrade they are not fun guns to work on. Oh that buffer needs to go too.

I think the problem is Glock. You can literally take a Glock out of the box and run 500 rounds of ammo through it without ever cleaning it or lubing it. People don’t associate polymer firearms with oil the same way they do with steel firearms. As obvious as it is, there are multiple people on the internet having problems with these guns and according to my comment section, this video has helped hundreds of people maybe thousands get their PMR30’s running smoothly.
