The reason the double torch doesn’t break as much is because they use better plastic in their tanks. In order to have a butane window, they need to use a plastic that doesn’t hold up as long. Mainly, be careful dropping it. Never use a very hot or freezing cold butane bottle. (One outside in the sun or in a car during winter). Ones with clear windows I only buy if they have enough metal around it to absorb some energy or it won’t last long even if it drops a few inches a few times.

Hi! Did you end up making that ULTIMATE Zippo insert video? I'm talking about your promises to unite best of Zorro insert (chimney cap+o-ring) and Zippo fluid lighter insert. Did you?
@Zippofanatic77outdoors2 жыл бұрын
Haha nope never did. After looking at it I found it was pointless. If your an everyday user like me. A zippo will only hold 1 .5 weeks of usage. Even if it’s air tight. There’s only enough fluid to lit it so many’s times. So with my sandwich bag trick and packing method is max peak performance. Why bother cutting metal

Just wondering have you tried Zorro's flints? I found flints from them and I'm curious if there as good as Zippo's flints, and if it even fits in a Zippo insert.

Do you let your butane inserts run completely dry before filling again? Recently, I've been filling my every day user before it runs out, and I've noticed it doesn't ignite as reliably as the past. I think there might be an excess of oxygen despite not being able to see it in the tank. I'm also using a butane tank that's nearly empty to fill just to use it up. Think that might have something to do with it? Your thoughts...
@Zippofanatic77outdoors2 жыл бұрын
I don’t let it run dry to prevent air bubbles in the lines. I don’t use mine full time either so the they seem to last longer on my table. But when I do they do last a 2 days usually. When I lite joints they run for at least 30 seconds. I don’t Ouff while I lite.
@Zippofanatic77outdoors2 жыл бұрын
As for the bot liting the igniter could be less of spark or there could be soot stoping the charge from conducting with the steel around the jet. But even then I’m not sure these things are finicky

I’m guessing you are not purging it before filling. Second I would question what type of butane are you using. As a rule, you are supposed to wait until empty until you fill it. Purge everytime. You can top it off but know what your torch can handle because you can risk the refill valve failing especially if its a plastic one. If so, purge the pressure from it. Just enough to get rid of the pressure sound to die low and stable. Or else you are now wasting butane inside. If it is almost empty, I always purge everything out. I repair lighters and torches everyday for fun and for sale. Basically selling to fund my hobby and make a little bit of money. If you or anyone see this, im happy to answer any questions or give suggestions on what to buy and where. As for lighters, always buy vintage. They are made to last thousands of years and will never be made with this quality ever again. I have some 70 years old and there’s a reason it is this old and not in the trash.

Gotten double torch today and aside that the cam and button are wobbly the damn thing just doesn't light up. I might be lucky every now and then and then it lights up but it's 1/50 tries. Gas comes out, it sparks, flames for a nanosecond and then just butane coming out and no flame. Also I refilled it three times, tried bleeding it and no luck, every time butane flew out while filling. Sorry for such an essay but I don't get if I'm doing something wrong or gotten a faulty unit?

You need a butane bottle/tank with a plastic nozzle and quality adapters in its lid. That will solve it. Get Newport zero or whip its butane and they will solve that problem.

They actually didn’t make piezoelectric’s with batteries because then it wouldn’t be a piezoelectric. You are referring to a battery lighter with a capacitor. Its way quieter. A piezo by definition doesn’t use a battery because its a crystal hit by metal. Thats the click you hear. If you want a reliable torch or lighter buy vintage and either buy working (more expensive) or replace the gaskets yourself (which is what I do then sell what I don’t keep). Never throw these away. Keep the torch nozzle, fuel lines, and gaskets. Always have them to replace any future stuff.
