beadaholique.com/collections/... - Learn how to flat odd-count peyote stitch in this bead weaving tutorial. This stitch is a bit more work then even count peyote, but it allows you to create designs with centered points such as arrows and chevrons.

Thank you so much Julie for this tutorial! Even though its an older tutorial, I'm soo glad it was there, because I'm ready for this next step. You taught me peyote, and now I'm ready to try odd count and I really wanted a design. I have a size 4 1/2- 5 wrist. The chevron design, and narrow width, in tutorial is perfect. Again, thank you, for such clear, precise, and easy to follow videos. You make learning a joy. :-)

@beadaholique
@beadaholique 9 ай бұрын
You count from the edge bead but I have seen different patterns which label the rows differently, so it does somewhat depend on which pattern you are following. I tend to not count rows and just keep track of where I am at in the overall design.

I find Nymo D too thin to work with as it tangles and knots easily and I want my piece, aa Peyote ring) to be stiffer. I have used fireline but still find the piece too floppy. Do you have a suggestion? I am using #11 seed beads or delicas. Thank you, Jill
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 7 жыл бұрын
Although it is can be difficult to work with, you can potentially use beading wire: www.beadaholique.com/jewelry-making-supplies/wire/beading-wire However, we recommend using a cord such as Fireline or Nymo because of the flexibility. Thanks for your interest.

This video is wonderful! I have taught myself to do Peyote even count from your tutorials. Trying to learn from a book is just WAY too hard for me. I also played around with the hollow, tubular peyote last night. I have been using Toho beads because that is all I can get in my area. Its a slim selection at that. I am trying to figure out how to make patterns. I have downloaded a free beading program called BeadTool4. Do you guys use beading programs or do you hand draw a pattern?
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 9 жыл бұрын
Stephanie Carpenter We do both. We either print out a blank peyote graph and hand draw the pattern using colored pencils or we will use a pattern maker and make it on the computer. Both work equally well, just the nice thing about doing it on a computer is nice because you can delete parts of the pattern you don't like without having to start over. I am trying to make this with 13 beads wide as a bracelet but I am not sure how many beads to buy and how much threat I should have cut when I start.
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 10 жыл бұрын
It all depends on how long of a bracelet you want to make, the size of the beads you are using, and your thread tension. I would suggest going to our free project section of our website and finding a similar project and seeing how many tubes of beads are used. Here is a link: www.beadaholique.com/t-ba-bracelet-projects.aspx?KZfaq& As for the thread, that is a personal decision. I like to start with about 6 feet of thread but some people are comfortable with more, others less. Chances are you will have to add more thread as you go.

@beadaholique
@beadaholique 10 жыл бұрын
You can use any kind of seed beads. They will give you a different finished look. Delicas fit together without much space between the beads. Round beads give a different look, with more space and a looser feel.

It's a very nicely explained tutorial but I can't seem to make my stitch right, especially the side where you have to make that "turn". Whenever I do it, the last bead of the second row which is the one that gets anchored through the "odd count turn" always sticks out in a weird way. I've tried it again and again and still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any advice?

Hi! I think your video is great, and I'm sure that with a little practice I can learn to do that turn, but I've some questions: Do I have to do that turn in any kind of flat peyote project? Why it is not done in both sides?, what happens if I don't do it? Thanks a lot. Rgrds.
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 9 жыл бұрын
Fannitomo You only have to do the turn around in odd count peyote, not in even count. You only do it on one side. If you do not turn around you will not be able to complete the next row.

+Beadaholique can we do this on fabric??
@beadaholique

+Aria Lynn because of how fabric moves, you would want to create the stitched panel first and then sew it onto the fabric. I think that would help give the stitching more structure and prevent excess wear and tear.
