Without doubt that is the most informative video I have seen and I have looked at a lot. It has helped me, so thank you. Technically, it is also better than any others I have seen with the constant close-up in miniature and the controller both in view. Better even than the corporate videos, so again, thanks and well done.

Thank you so much for this video. I received RF 7.5 on the 11/01/ 17. I made a promise to myself to just fly the trainer first until i become good at basic flying before i move to faster more extreme planes. The way you have said to fly is just what i needed. I was always using the rudder to turn as well as the wing flaps and was getting into all sorts of problems. I take it then i should leave the rudder alone until i make a landing and then use rudder for correction on the runway. Thanks again i have become better at flying

I first tried to fly my 4 ch rc when in 2012 when I was 12, with no experience, at my first turn I dived and obviously freaked out. The plane hammered into the ground, since then I kept it on the shelf and never thought to fly it again. Now having seen your video I'm planning to fly it again, with a bit more of knowledge. Hope after maintenance that old plane will be stronk again😄

I'm a noob and started "flying" a few weeks ago. Your training video is the first one I've seen that talks about stick movements, which is exactly what noobs need to know. The only thing I would add is to tell the noobs to BUY A SIMULATOR. The great thing about simulators is that they help you get over the orientation problem.

Great video. Practice smart. Level wings, control altitude and throttle make a good pilot. A lot of people jump right into aerobatics, those are easy on a sim but a guaranteed crash on an airfield if basic flight isn't mastered. One bridge at a time. Thanks for the video and great tutorial.

Nice video. Good information and explained well. When I got my very first nitro trainer 40 plane I took the wheels off and fitted a set of double wheels on the front and a small wheel on the rear. I found it much better. I just didn't like the nose wheel at the front. Lol. That was about 12 years ago. I've broken a couple of planes in that time but I've still got my ripmax 40 trainer. I'm mostly moving over to electric planes now. It's cleaner and easier. But I'm keeping a couple of my nitro planes. Thanks for sharing your video. I've subscribed 👍

Found the Sig LT40 a much better trainer than the Nexstar. Apprentice is good for beginner, but as its still only a park flyer, it involves another learning step for moving up to a faster nitro plane. Currently teaching a fellow at our club on a venerable LT40 that has a Saito 4-stroke motor. Lovely realistic sound and very reliable for practicing approaches & landings.

If you are teaching someone to fly for the first time, they need to know 'as the airplane flys away from you right is right and left is left'. BUT when flying back toward yourself, this is reversed. This is where most new pilots run into trouble. I was taught the "LOW WING" method. Low Wing is simply to move the stick toward the low wing of the plane when it is coming toward you. Some have a tendency to turn their backs to the oncoming plane and look over their shoulder but this should be discouraged. Practicing with the Low Wing method, the transition from going away and returning will become natural. Dennis B. , Coarsegold, CA
@georgehowarth
@georgehowarth 9 жыл бұрын
Yeah well said Dennis.. That was the one tip that has helped me the most whilst learning. I'm still learning now really but I'm getting there slowly. I think it's very easy for people who've been flying for a long time to forget how difficult a simple thing like that can seem to a total beginner, especially when the pressure's on because your beloved new toy is finally in the air and the adrenaline's pumping but you know that one wrong move and you've knackered it!!
@lw216316
@lw216316 7 жыл бұрын
" move the stick toward the low wing of the plane when it is coming toward you. " what? I assume this means if the wings are not level to begin with, otherwise you don't have a low wing - if the wings are level and if one wing is low and you move the control toward that wing then you would reverse the direction of the turn and level out or if you keep turning you will go the opposite direction. Or by low wing - are you saying, while flying level toward you imagine you want to turn and imagine the wing is low in that direction then move the stick toward that wing and you will turn that way.
@georgehowarth
@georgehowarth 7 жыл бұрын
He's just talking about flying a simple oval as a beginner - when you're turning the plane around to fly back towards you and suddenly it seems like the controls are reversed - it's just an easy way to level out the plane when coming out of the turn (a time when a beginner can easily forget which way is which and just end up banking further in the same direction).

if you are flying a glow fuel plane, its always a good idea to fly near you, but lots of altitude. if you are way out there and your motor dies, you may not be able to bring it back in, but if your motor dies and you are way up high, you can easily circle your way back down.

Id recommend two airplanes for a brand new pilot. For under 200 is the HobbyZone Super Cub But if you can pay a little more. The E-flite Apprentice is the best trainer possible. Comes with a great Transmitter. And will even get you through the beginner stages and into intermediate and learning basic aerobatics wheres the Super Cub will not. Thanks, Voro.

When coming toward you , model will turn the opposite of desired direction. It helps to look at plane over your shoulder until turns in the desired direction becomes natural to you. Learning to fly with a qualified instructor using a "buddybox" is best.

Finally! Someone who is going about this the right way. Stay with your instructor until you can take off and land repeatedly without problems. One thing the video did not talk about (among others) was the flair on landing. Very important! Also, take the plane up high and practice slow flight and stall recovery. Always plan your maneuvers ahead of time. Fly as if your butt is in the cockpit, like a full-sized airplane. After more than 35 years of building and flying model airplanes, I still get excited about building my next project. To me, building is (at least) half the fun of this hobby. Try it! Any questions? Ask me. I'm glad to help.Good luck and happy landings!

Today's R/C planes don't really require much work at all. When you build an all-wood airplane from a kit, you really sweat the details! But the satisfaction you get from a successful first flight cannot compare to what you get from a ready-to fly model such as the Apprentice. When I show up at the field with a new airplane, I can be sure it will be the only one like it. I always get a kick out of questions like, "You built that?!" as if the thought of it is beyond their grasp. To me, it's a huge part of the hobby.

In a real plane, the only times you use rudder is for takeoffs and landings. However, with RC more intermediate flight use rudder to make turns *appear* more realistic by pointing the nose into the turn. Once you get into advanced aerobatics, you will use rudder almost more than anything else. Feel free to check out some on my 3d tutorials such as Rolling Harrier, and you'll see how much rudder is used.
