Because I needed a project to learn color grading and object tracking in my video editing software Davinci Resolve I took some 360 degree shots of one of my longer flights in Poland this year and add some comments via tracked call out titles. Its still a miracle to me that 400+ kg plane get pretty much lift from rising bubbles of warm air. In this very flight the winch released me at around 400 meters an I was able to reach 1000 meter mostly by circling over a huge black supermarket roof...

Easy to fly, very agile, hard to stall, you can circle with 80 Km/h on a radius of plate s to say. Huge and very effective air brakes! PZL has made a very beginner friendly little plane. Perfect for the first steps into cross country. BUT: In falling air the Junior drops like a rock. Recently I barley made it back to my airfield. I was at 320 meters, the field was in sight, around 700 meters away as the air fell with +3 m/s. Within these 700 meters I lost +/- 170 meters altitude.

@henryluebberstedt7819
@henryluebberstedt7819 4 ай бұрын
Hi Kevin. This red string is for glider pilots a most important indicator. The sting shows from what direction the air stream hits the plane. Keeping the string more or less in the middle (even in turns) is the goal. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaw_string

@@lovropavlicevic6321 Breaking Bad is one of my all time favorites shows as well! It has blown me away from the first episode. Croatia, what a beautiful country. Welcome to Schengen btw :-) Some of my oldest friends are from there, they flew as kids from the war, came to Hamburg and we went on the same school. To glider flying: A great but time eating hobby. And its a good because inexpensive starting point into aviation. In Germany its only a very small step from glider licencene to TMG (motor glider) and from there right to PPL for ultra light. Flying a glider is diffrent. You always have to watch your engery status, you have to fly clean and "read" the clouds. Every landing is special because you don't get a second chance. There is no motor, no "going around". If you are in a hurry you can spend you anual vacation at a glider flight school. With a bit of luck and a lot of learning for the theory exam you are done within tree month. The usual way is a membership with a glider club. Bigger clubs are often certified to train flight students. It takes two to three seasons to the licence. After around 35 - 50 flights you get the prmission to fly alone within the airspace of your club.

Yes and No. The main challenge is finding lift and transform your altitude into a route to your target point. Once I flew from Hamburg to Berlin and back - around 600 kilometes without an engine. But just circling on one spot can be boring.

Thats a device called e-vario. A variometer indicates the pilot if his plane is flying in uprising or falling air. Rising air is a high tone, falling air a low tone. It helps glider pilots a lot to find thermals. A thermal is a stream of warm rising air.
