I completely agree with Billy. This will be a game changer when the software catches up with use cases like this. Not being blinded by the sun in summer time while flying is a major benefit.

Just to let your viewers know, I replicated this setup on my Meta Quest 3 goggles. I use a Tripltec tablet to fly my drone and cast the screen to my Mac laptop (I installed the x-Mirage app on the laptop to allow it to receive the screen cast from the tablet). Then I used the Remote Desktop app on the Meta Quest 3 to mirror my laptop in the goggles. You can have the laptop as a floating screen in the goggles and enable pass through mode to be able to see around you. The screencast from the Tripltek is remarkably sharp. You can have some other apps open at the same time but the screen placement is not as flexible as the AVP. Still, it beats paying $4000! Hopefully both the AVP and Meta Quest 3 will be modified to accept screen casting in a much simpler fashion.

It's actual simpel. You open the DJIFly App on your iPhone Than you share your iPhone screen with your Mac. The last step is to pair your Vision Pro with your Mac and you are Ready To go.

Wow. If only the AVP could see the iPhone directly, wired or wireless. This seems very cumbersome. Or, as you said, the DJI app right on the visor would be best. But then how does the app connect to the DJI controller? No USB on the visor.

I’m going to test using the iPhone hotspot and mirror my iPad that’s connected to the controller and dji app. That way I don’t need to buy another hotspot and pay for service. ALSO, you can you just screen mirror iPhone or iPad to the MacBook Pro AFTER Mac virtual display is connected to your device and AVP to bypass using reflector. Although it takes the whole screen, which is okay in this situation

Hi Billy, nice video as always. I'm curious, are the goggles in AR mode real see though, through the glass, or are you watching a camera view of the outside world? Reason is I'm thinking if they are cameras only, you'd still need a VO when flying with these. In a way defeating the purpose for drone flying. I get that flying drones isn't the primary intended use for these, but still 🌷

With the AVP on, you are seeing an image of the area around you. They are not see through.

Bezel on the vision pro allows your to stream you phone to the goggles. You don’t need any other software like reflector nor do you need your laptop

@@billykyle I’ve been able to resize it fairly large. The resized controller is intermittent when it shows or not… but yes, there is a limit. I guess it’s a trade off for not needing a laptop with you.

UPDATE: The iPhone hotspot worked to connect my iPad and Mac virtual display to my Apple vision, pro all on the same network. I didn’t have to use reflector or a separate hotspot.

Yeah 4k for AVP, 1.5k for computer, 1k for phone, 1k for drone, plus a hotspot and subscription. So maybe half of 15k but not the cheapest way to fly. Although still a cool method

No disrespect Billy, But why would anyone (Drone Pilots) want to go through all this just to fly their drone. I heard on the news today Apple is already getting record number of returns with in the 15 day return window on the Vision Pro. (Apple not commenting). I suppose people are realizing the Vision Pro is just not practical for everyday usage and will not be replacing their laptops and computers in the near future. Now don't get me wrong I love all Apple product and all your videos. Have a good day.

Yea all set with buying apple products 😂 over priced junk. I think dudes falling in with those groups that just promote crap.😂sorry man but this went from a drone channel to a priduct pushign channel on my opinion. And no way in hell would inpay the price for those goggles ever to be stuck on using it with more apple products. In 2 yrs or less they will come out with differen goggles and these will be obsolete.
