Just a tip: I know these are simple folds, but for instructional videos it’s super helpful to use paper that has only one coloured side, or at least a different color on the other side, to differentiate between sides and more easily see the folds you are making :)

I’ve got a funky origami plane of my original design that I call the F-23 because it vaguely resembles the YF-23 Black Widow. It’s not a phenomenal flier or anything, but it’s cool looking. I also have another one deceptively named Victory. It’s a complex plane with long broad low set wings and a tail and winglets and elevators. If built properly it can fly well, but it’s incredibly temperamental and also has a high chance of not flying particularly well. That said it’s fairly quick and likes to glide off high places with a gentle launch sometimes at a slight downward angle. And then of course you have your classic Flying needle which is an exercise in what happens when you throw a thin heavy thing really hard. It was my first. It’s a joke plane that everybody makes at least once. It’ll put your eye out if you stand in front of it.

I just wanted to shout out to the editor of this video: I know you're getting roasted here in the comments section, people saying it's too hard to follow, etc. As a professional video editor myself, I just wanted to voice my opinion that you did a great job. You kept the pace of the video alive and in my opinion the cuts were made in places that made a lot of sense. I followed the instructions for all of the planes in this video (except for the Tumbling Wing) and I didn't find them hard to follow at all. I did have to pause the video a couple times, which is to be expected for an instructional video of this type. But I honestly think that all the people who are complaining about it being too hard to follow just suck at paperfolding. I've folded origami since I was at most five years old, so I understood the terms and techniques he was using and I didn't even really need to look at the video that much; I mostly just relied on his voice and only looked up at the video when he was referencing a specific corner or crease. You probably don't need me to tell you, but you didn't do a poor job editing this video. I think it's simply a case of target audience mismatch: an experienced paperfolder like me can follow along no problem, but the normies of KZfaq struggle. Thank you and the rest of your team for a great video!
@brandidean317

Jesse Garrard glad you have been folding paper all your life. Not everyone has, and the camera shifts are confusing, because as soon as the camera shifts, most find themselves having to find their place again, and by that time he’s three steps ahead, along with 14 more camera changes ahead. I’m sure the camera man is a great guy, but there were many other ways they could have done this. Maybe even a split screen with both angles.
@Fuffuloo
@Fuffuloo 4 жыл бұрын
@@brandidean317 P.S. that split screen idea is genius; why didn't they think of that!!! You should consider a career as a video editor!!! ...lol
@jackveneno2377
@jackveneno2377 3 жыл бұрын
Good to know you feel far superior because the “Normies” could not follow and you did. That’s exactly the problem know your freaking audience. It shows not only that whoever cut the video sucks at editing, it also show that you also suck at it, that on top of being a douchebag. I tried to folllow the video with my 10 year old, as a fun thing to do together and we both ended up quitting at the first plain after rewinding many times. Don’t blame the people for not keeping up, they should have made it so people can keep up or indicate the target audience as part of the title.

I made a plane very very similar to the world record one. I'm so proud of myself. The main difference is that mine uses a 60° fold for the start. Flight patterns look almost identical if you fold up the very edge of the wing. It flies great.
