How To Force or Fix DFU/Bootloader Mode On Any Betaflight Board That Won't Update

In this video, I show you how to fix or force DFU mode on any Betaflight Board. This may happen if you purchased a board from China and it's running an out of date version of Betaflight or if you don't have access to bootloader button or it might just be broken. It has to do with bootloader driver which needs to be updated.

Man, thank you so much! Using your tip I was finally able to swap my BeeBrain Pro from Betaflight over to Emuflight. For two days I couldn't figure out why I could connect to Betaflight normally and still connect, yet I was unable to access the bootloader... Something about the stm32 driver must have changed in the past year, as I was able to do firmware flashes back then. Thanks again!

You just saved me! I owe you a beer. I have an old skool drone that is kick ass that I bought 2nd hand. However shi was old didn't even have Betaflight period. Once I used zadig boom it was able to flash expect mine was different my drop down as different ten yours but I was able to follow. Any just wanted to say thanks and greetings from Boston! Subbed!

FYI (for ya'lls info ;) the dfu command in 4.0 seems to be 'bl' now, for 'bootloader' .. and zadig but no STM driver still had me pulling my hears out. BUT you mentioning the 'cli -> dfu' did save me having to shortsolder the boot pins on my hawk5 f4 v1.0 thanks :D

you saved my quad. I flashed wrong diff. I couldn't connect to beta flight. All I had to do is get into DFU, flash the firmware with erase configuration opinion. Thanks, man.

Unless Betaflight completely goes under a complete overhaul, I'm sure this will still work 10 years from now hence why I made this

to enter bootloader mode via CLI you can type BL, I just learnt. thanks for your vid!

Thanks that helped me to change my maple mini dev board to be recognized on device manager in COM port instead of DFU device that isn't on COM port. The board got stuck in DFU mode, but it got cracked eventually from me trying to flash it.

Remember the mapping it showed when it starts. A lot of times your quad wont reconnect to betaflight until you remove that mapping you just set. Or set it back to default. This helped me get into one of my quads, cant remember which. So thanks for this. But then I spent an hour after flashing.

Thanks for this video, it helped alot, I used to bein this heavily and gave it up for 3 years, now my itch is back. Some things to note that occurred with me. I am using a clracing F4 from like 2019 that was brand new and had 3.2 on it...When I got to the part on Zadig to replace the driver, it was "Install Driver" as none was there to begin with. Then to get in DFU mode, I have to plug in when holding the boot button(this did not work before installing the Win driver). Other than that this trick worked, thanks!

YESSS, I was so lost trying to figure out how to get my computer to detect the DFU mode. Ended up getting the emax tinyhawk (MatekF411) to flash by holding BIND and plugging it in to the computer then using Zadig to swap the driver. I don't know why I didn't think of that but now I'm on BetaFlight 4.0.5 with project mockingbird v4!!!
