How to improve your car's launch during 1/4 mile, 0-60 mph acceleration launches! Prevent Honda's Vehicle Stability Control (VSA) from pulling throttle or applying braking during moments of tire slippage by using this How-To process to fully disable the Honda OEM's VSA. I'll take you through why YOU would you would want to fully disable the VSA on your Honda Accord project car. BTW you can do the peddle dance while the car is on. This is the way I do it primarily

It is counterintuitive - if you want a good launch, you’d want to have perfect traction, unfortunately how the VSA works was not intended for standing race launches 🤷‍♂️😉

For one, you need to do the pedal dance if you don’t have a KTUNER. Having the KTUNER allows it to be quickly disabled when you don’t want the VSA intervention.

Even in my Civic I had, I always disable VSA. people ask me all the time why my dash is flashing. The car definitely seems to perform better, and better throttle response.

With larger sticky tires it help reduce wheel hop with it off also. The throttle cut will keep it in the zone before it fully spins and it will make for a lot of wheel hop off the line. I have 245/45R17 Continental extreme contact sport tires on my 2018 and the wheel hop can get nasty with the VSA but having it off seems to help eliminate wheel hop.

Once you start adding hp and tq to this car, especially with all the tq happening so early on in the RPM range, traction is going to be critical 👍

Does it automatically turn back on when you turn off the car? Or would you have to press the VSA button again for it to revert back to the original settings?

Good question. When you turn your car off, it will automatically revert back to having the VSA fully enabled. You would then have to go through the process again to fully disable it.

If you're using a Ktuner, there is a way to disable VSA within the settings. If you're not, then you'll have to partial disable the VSA by simply pressing the button once.

Will the ktuners vsa kick in after full disable of stock vsa? Or is it disabled all together? And is it even worth having ktuner vsa on?

You can disable VSA with this pedal dance, or through the KTuner software, but either way, it is not 100% disabled 🤷‍♂️

@@TheLemonFactor would you say ktuner aggressive vsa is better than not having it on at all? I don’t notice any difference between moderate & aggressive options. And ktuner vsa feels the same as if i disabled stock vsa. Maybe i need better tires 🤔

Another reason to disable VSA, it makes it impossible to get unstuck in deep snow. once the vsa has triggered because you're stuck you have to restart the vehicle to turn it off to get free.

You can do this with the engine running and even on drive. My car feels the same. I didn't feel anything different. The car doesn't brake as smooth. You need to keep control of the the car while braking. This cars are not as fast as advertised.

If you're able to fully disable the VSA when driving, then you didn't do it properly.

@@TheLemonFactor I did it in park with engine off then I tried it on park with engine on and then I tried it on drive and it blinked every time. I test drove it every time and it was all the same. I did notice that my accord keeps shifting at 65 hundred rpm instead of the 68 hundred rpm advertised.

Once you’ve fully disabled VSA, the blinking light won’t go off until you’ve turned off the car. The disabling of the VSA has no impact on your braking or the RPM shift points.

@@TheLemonFactor the rpm observation was an unrelated observation. Of course it has nothing to do with VSA. I just noticed it last nigh because now I'm starting to get to know the car. This is my third accord with VSA. One of them was a 2012 V6 coupe with manual transmission. On that one deactivating the VSA really made a difference. I don't know if it is something related to the brake in period that wont get past 65 hundred rpm. It only has 650 miles. I waited until hitting 500 miles before testing acceleration. I guess I have to wait and see.
