I love that you mentioned the part about groomers lung. Shaving fur can be quite dangerous if you don't prepare first! Make sure to work in a well ventilated area and wear a mask like Flint. You can also wear ear plugs if you are worried about ear infections. Stay safe friends, but make sure to have fun too! :3

I remember coughing fur up (like a cat ;-;) before I was able to get a mask. I didn’t realize that the problem was my own laziness, and now I always have a window open when fursuit making :)

I have shaved goats lots of times and honestly it never occurred to me to wear a mask Still not doing it though since I would die of an asthma attack

I have groomers lung and it’s very sad. When I began fursuit making I shaved my everything without a mask in a poorly ventilated space. Luckily I now have vacuum clippers! But still can’t fix the damage.

Get a respirator for the cutting fur! You cka easily find them in places like home depot for rather cheap and you can also get specialized filters for them

I don’t have a lot of experience with this since I have only ever furred skulldogs, Dino masks, and I helped a friend fur their foam base, but I recommend wrapping the head with cling wrap before taping it. That’s what I always do and it helps prevent it sticking to the base itself and it’s easier to cut without risk of cutting the base. Hope this helps. :)
