@@HawaiianBro808That might be true, but most HR departments already runs very lean with a very small team of people. They usually want to hire people with experience because the time it takes to train a person without experience can back log or back up a lot of processes that are important to daily operations, which can cost the company money. Also, higher ups do not want to add headcount to HR departments because, like accounting departments, the department is usually seen as a cost center.

I absolutely love HR! It’s simply a desire to be a part of something greater by making positive yet significant changes within an organization. I think many companies tend to forget that it isn’t just the consumers that contribute to the bottom line, but its’ employees, who play such a major role! By aligning the goals of the organization to the motivation and desires of its’ people, can ultimately yield greater success for all and its’ bottom line!

You are what is wrong with society. You say all these hollow, cliche fluffy terms and phrases, but in actually, you have no major impact on the organization, and you are easily replaceable. The employees that create the product and the management are what delivers impact, not pencil pushers like you.

This is right on time! I had a friend of a friend who is in HR look over my resume and said I should focus on applying to HR roles. I'm the "transferrable skills" applicant and didn't know how to showcase my accomplishments in the best way on my resume. I don't have a linear path and have always been in a people-facing role (neuromuscular therapist, member/customer success, behavioral technician, barista). It feels great to have a focus and to see how much an HR role actually aligns with my skills. I haven't received any invitations to interviews as of yet but I'm doing my best to not get discouraged!

Hi Madeline! Thanks for the video. I’m a fresh grad with minors in psychology and communications who is trying to break into HR industry. I really enjoyed all the things that mainly had to do with HR such as recruiting new members, training, figuring out the issues of a organization and giving suggestions on how they can improve and more. I used a lot of my time in college to be a member and sometimes even the head of HR for many of my college organizations, with my various duties consisting of the things I stated in the previous statement. It’s hard because I keep getting rejected by companies who prefer people with “more experience”. But I’ll keep going at it and I won’t give up on finding my way into my preferred HR job or any related job I’m interested in.

I have fully enjoyed working in HR for 13 years just took two year break for other projects. A key point is working onsite is generally a must it is a big time people job requiring high emotional and social intelligence, boundary setting skills ect.. But if working in HR analytics or compensation/benefits design can work from home. I needed to be on site people just respond better to emotional intelligence in person promotes thriving, wellness and high productivity at work. IT is a very demanding job did full cycle recruiting, training, compensation, so much....

This video fell into my lap at the perfect time. I'm in healthcare and I'm MISERABLE! I want to be a part of a team, but everyone in bedside is so jaded and I'm so burned out that I dread going to work. The shift hours are horrid and I'm always exhausted and not wanting to go back. HR has what I'm looking for, a collaborative workplace, A CAREER LADDER, better pay, a positive impact on business, everything. I applied to get an accelerated HR degree, and I could not be more excited to be changing careers.

Who knew that I should have been in HR? Every single thing you describe matches up with my personality my preferences and my experience. unfortunately I was sidelined 30 years ago by medical issues. I have not gotten to pursue any of these things in my life. Literally just staying alive and being here for my family, has been a bit underwhelming at times. The hard part is being so financially devastated by not being able to work, and watching people around me enjoying life and attaining things that I could never even dream of. It's hard being a bit of loser, when you have a high IQ, a great deal of aptitude and strong work ethic, and you can't do a darn thing about it. I do what I can to contribute to the world, definitely. It's just not in the way I anticipated when younger, and definitely not in the way the other people understand. A lot of people think being disabled is sitting around eating bonbons and watching TV all day, but that has not at all been my experience. It's not easy at all. I'm still a curious motivated person on the inside, even if the outside isn't keeping up with that.

Hi Madeline! I’m a fresh grad from UCSD and I’ve been wanting to explore and learn the field of HR! This video came at the right time as I have been tirelessly applying to entry-level HR positions. You hit it on the head in that they always require 2-3 years MINIMUM of experience….even though the position was entry-level 💀 This video really helped to spark that hope and confidence in myself, as well as a sense of direction to help prepare myself in order to make me a candidate that stands out! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Can’t wait for your next video ✨

So masters in hr is worthless? However, most hr jobs won’t give you a chance without either experience or a graduate degree. I’ve worked in Hr in the past and I’m trying to get back into it. I’ve had no luck so I’m considering a HR master’s degree . It’s frightening to think that even with a master’s your chances are slim. While I worked in hr in the past, it wasn’t for long . 1 yr only

Hi. First off, I loved the video, and it expanded my interest in pursuing a career in Human Recourses. I've worked in the restaurant industry for almost 30 years. All front of the house positions I excelled in, mostly serving, managing and corporate training. For someone like myself who has been in this industry for so long, what would you suggest if I wanted to pursue working in the HR department for a restaurant corporation? Now keep in mind, I do not have a college degree. The only education I have is a Highschool diploma, and I was a licensed mortgage broker from 2005 to 2008 which required some schooling and exam.

They also had me take the PHR exam and since I've been in leadership role I was able to take the exam. You might want to see what kind of programs your current employer offers...
