Hi EVERYONE!
Today I am going to talk to you about how to get the JOB, in Interior Design that it. I started with thinking this was just a portfolio review, but it grew into more of a how to not only have a well put together portfolio but how to be prepared for an Interior Design job Interview.
I have 5 tips for you guys, plus a bonus tip if you stick through to the end of the video.

My style is Tribal like mixing ethnic pieces that are distinctive and accents, grass- or woven-baskets, textured pillows and fur throws are all great helped me design my first did an amazing job!

There is a lot you won't learn in school for sure. But it is really only a foundation for where to start. You will learn so much in your first few years of working it will be awesome! Glad I could help on the job search front! 😊

I have a question. I live in Miami, FL which is a major city, would it be easy to find a job in this area? I am currently a college freshman majoring in interior design & i heard its a great career, i am just worried about the pay (not sure if it will be high considering i live in a high end city) or if i take long to get hired.

I'm in Canada, so I can only speak for here. But it is probably similar in that there is a small percentage that will break 6 figures. But many do not. And it takes time...I find the best way to make the most money is to go out on your own. But you need to establish a name for yourself through your work and experience first. Hope this helps!

Hello ! Do you have any advice for me ? I developed anxiety after finishing my studies, I have a bachelor in interior design and decoration. And I'm terrified of even hearing the word "Architecture". Like should I give up or keep going another way ?

I am sorry you are feeling that way. There really isn't anything I can say either way. As that is such a personal decision. I think if you love design, then follow your heart. If your not interested in architecture then focus more on the decorating side and seek out people in that space to mentor and learn from. All the best!

how you can improve your interior design construction details ??

There is a great book "architectural graphics" and "building construction" by Ching I personally also took some extra classes from a local college in construction to get a better idea of how stuff was built. Also if you have habitat for humanity near you. You can volunteer. Help local families and learn construction from hands on experience. I have also taken a part in that for many years 🙂

Are u an interior designer...?I am thinking to study interior designing after my 12th....is it good to go...?is it easy to get a job...?

Yes I am a Senior Interior Designer at a firm. It's an excellent career, I love my job. However it depends on where you live. In Ontario Canada where I am, I would say it is a little tough to get a job. At least right now. It is an industry that can be hit very hard with the economy slowing down. Because most people view design as a luxury item or a business expense they can do without. So if finances are a challenge, then design gets pushed. However if you go to school for the next few years by the time your done I would say things will be better. Just want to be honest.

Is it necessary to keep hard copy of portfolio?

In my experience it has always been viewed during interviews. You don't have to, if you want to just do digital. But like I talk about in the video if something goes wrong you won't be able to show anything. Ppl like something tangible...just think of books. If ppl were so keen on digital we wouldn't have so many books...but they still sell because its something you can hold. :) it's just my thoughts on it....but I do really see a lot of value in it. Do you need to get permission before sharing construction drawings from your current job with an outside company?

I wouldn't send them with your portfolio, just to show in an interview. And don't let them keep them. There proprietary... but useful to share your knowledge and understanding
