Hey Jayden! That’s great news, I’m glad to be of help. I ended up going with best quote because it was the cheapest. But I know some people have chosen Covermore which I think has better coverage, but more expensive. For covermore you have to call to organise 2x 1 year insurance plans because they don’t offer 2 years online.
@caitlinjanet_
@caitlinjanet_ Жыл бұрын
Insurance ranges from around $1500-$3000 for two years, but it’s well worth it. Healthcare is extremely expensive here and the odds of hurting yourself are high especially with all the skiing and boarding! You don’t want to come back home with a huge debt!

That’s so exciting! Happy for you! Nope if I was you I’d just wait for the jobs to become available and apply as soon as you see! In the mean time it’s always good to do some research online, read arrival stories on the IEC Facebook group, etc. Better to be as prepared as possible :) also a good time of the year to save as much as you can! You’ll thank yourself for it later this year :) Do you have any ideas on which ski resort you want to work at?

Hi, from the UK. I know you made this video a while ago but hopefully someone will see this and respond. I applied for an IEC visa and was approved last year in September and have had to change my plans and go 24/5 season instead, Ideally going to whistler. i was wondering how you applied for the jobs was it just on the companies websites or is there a website with multiple job listing for seasonal work? As i want to try and plan everything as soon as possible. Also was there a website that compared different insurances?
@caitlinjanet_
@caitlinjanet_ 5 ай бұрын
Hey! Yes for jobs through the mountain just apply via their website I think it’s vail resorts jobs. They will become available around July I believe! And for other options I would suggest Facebook whistler jobs, indeed, etc. The biggest thing is just keeping an eye out, reaching out to businesses directly and having your resume ready! For insurance: unsure, but if you Google IEC emergency insurance all the companies will come up, there’s only really a few to choose from. Also!! If you got approved for your visa in September that means you have to activate it within a year or it expires. If you’re not ready to move by that point you could just come for a holiday in summer and activate it and then return home and wait for winter.

Hey! I plan to go to Canada in a couple of months, specifically to Alberta. Is it too risky to go without a job offer? I have the Work Permit but I'm not too sure if it would be too risky to go there without a job

That’s so exciting - congrats on getting your work permit! I think take the risk! The biggest thing is just making sure you have a good amount of savings to see you through organising short term housing till you find something more permanent and then being able to survive without a wage for awhile if need be.

Hey! I'm from Brisbane, Australia! I'm on a gap year after graduating from high school, and I only recently thought about getting a Canada working holiday visa. Do you think it'll be too late to apply if I want to do it maybe July 2023 - January 2024??
@caitlinjanet_
@caitlinjanet_ Жыл бұрын
Hey!! It is pretty late notice but I think if you apply for a visa now you might hear in time. Sometimes the process can be quick or slow it just depends. I think all up it took me about 2 months. Youll need to go give your biometrics possibly in another state so be prepared for that. If I was you, I’d apply for a visa now and then once you get it finalised you can come over. Usually summer jobs are from June-Sep and applications start now. Winter jobs are Dec-April and applications usually open July. This is for ski resort jobs. There’s a dead time around May and October. You can always apply for Summer jobs while waiting to hear about your visa and then if it doesn’t come in time you’ll just have to post pone your move. Hope that helps!

@@emxlyyybxnn1040 Yes it’s definitely easier to apply with an agency but you’ll still need to start organising that before the season. The spots fill up very fast, might even be full already for 23/24 season! They help with the visa process and then help get a job, I don’t think any can 100% promise accomodation though :) it is daunting but it’s so rewarding being out of your comfort zone.
