you have to just play good and play a lot and there are prizes for the top positions in tournaments usually and the price increases with the level of the tournaments, no benifits other than travelling if you get into the national team, but you can get a more fixed income from youtube/ chess academy, but you have to be a fide rated chess instructor, it is like any other sport, the better you get the more you earn.

Yes, there are tournaments online also. Mostly they won't be FIDE rated. The tournament details would mention which device to be used. If u just want to play chess normally, u can play it with both phone and laptop at chess.com. Hopefully I answered your question. Thanks!

As per the latest rules FIDE says that, "In order to get a Standard rating, you will need to play at least 5 games against players who are already rated, and score at least ½ point (a draw) in those games." if you play a FIDE rated tournament, all you games are being registered to the database and results updated. From there your win will be registered and if you win a lot of games you might get a rating for yourself.

yah but only in top level... other tournaments, they do not change the rating coz there could be cheating in the online mode somewhere...

No, online games wont get you a FIDE rating. Though you can play on the FIDE official website and get an online title like AGM-Arena Grand Master and others if you fulfill their criteria. Thanks for Watching!🙂
