YOOOOO guys Booma here and today we have a video discussing INPUT EFFICIENCY in Rocket League. A viewer of mine was asking how to get power on their resets and this is my response to that question. I believe this is something every player at any level in RL needs to implement into their gameplay so I hope this video sheds some insight into what it takes to make those corrections. If you guys have anymore ideas on what kind of tutorial you'd like next please drop it in the comments below! If you guys enjoy this type of content please leave a like, share, and subscribe it's very much appreciated. Much love as always & see you guys in the next one or on stream PEACE!!!

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 01:08 🎮 *Input efficiency is crucial in Rocket League, focusing on precise movements necessary for the moment or car orientation.* 04:05 🔄 *Minimize unnecessary spins and flashy moves; prioritize intentional and efficient touches after getting a reset.* 06:35 🚗 *Practice input efficiency by playing a "brick" style, cutting out unnecessary movements, especially in 1v1 games.* 08:30 🚀 *Efficient input management complements boost management, helping conserve boost and execute plays effectively.* 11:17 ⚽ *Watch high-level players like Zen for examples of exceptional input efficiency, observing how they control their cars with precision.* Made with HARPA AI

GC2 here - Work on your double taps. They will teach you everything you need to know about how your car moves + wall reads + boost management. Work on catching the ball from the sky, dribbling the ball, then flicking it. That'll get you most of the control you need. Most other mechanics after you learn how your car moves become SUPER easy to learn just from prior knowledge of your cars movement. Great video 10/10

GC2 here, absolutely agreed with your comments and definitely an amazing video. I am literally the type of annoying player he mentioned. Not very mechanical, cant even double reset, let alone reset musty, i keep it simple but fast play more 50s, patience on defense but constantly close distance to the ball immediately reacting to my opponents actions. And all that has been by making efficient simple moves cause i haven't built that muscle memory enough in awkward positions for flashy mechanics.

Fantastic video. Love the use of input efficiency as a way to describe minimizing extra unnecessary movements that hinder all of your play at higher levels. One thing I will add is that all of this can be implemented slightly easier in your training regimen with slow mo. My brain is very visual, and the game speed at 100% sometimes prevents me from recognizing the input that sent my car in an undesirable direction versus my cars initial orientation. Slowed down to 50%(I gradually increased, but still warm up to this day on 75%-80% if I'm feeling sluggish in my input efficiency) at first allowed me to understand just what orientation my car looked versus what input actually was needed.
@BoomaRL

Yess genius idea I didn’t even think of this while recording. Slow mo is another very under utilized tool within the game it allows you to really feel your momentum and notice how each touch affects the vehicle and vice versa

So just a little story that goes hand in hand with what this guy is trying to teach you. I was in spooklukes GCR about 2 years ago now, they got me focused ENTIRELY on no spinning and all slow, efficient movement and recoveries and correct decision making. Which helped my 1s game drastically, went from D1 to D3 in about a week or so. BUT it completely tanked my 2s and 3s rank. I was upset but I kept pushing and practiced what they taught me for a WHILE. After about a couple months I was only peaking C2 in 2s, C1 in 3s and 1s. This had me distraught. I felt slow and non mechanical, so I decided to work on my mechs, got good at basic flip resets and ceiling shots and double taps but I was still so STUCK in that slow mindset. This persisted til 2023. So I took a break, a LONG break, about 7-8 months or so, even sold my pc. Eventually I couldn’t hold it no more and bought a new pc and started playing again. Over those months I discovered players like dark(?) and zen which got me really inspired to try and be more mechanical. So I jumped back in and said f it and started training my mechs even harder. About a month later, I got gc in 2s, c3 in 3s and I stopped playing so much 1s. What changed ? I’d finally broken that mindset of being slow and methodical. That playstyle just DOES NOT WORK these days, players are better and more mechanical than ever. I became faster, ballchasier, and more mechanical while erasing the idea that everything needed to be well thought out. I retained the carefulness and correct decision making from being slow, while taking my mechanics and speed to the next level, which in turn, took me to the next level in arguably the hardest season to get gc in we’ve ever seen (last season) Long story short, back in the day, it was a lot easier to get higher level just waiting for mistakes, but players are better now, you NEED mechanics, they don’t have to be the flashiest in the world, but they are needed and necessary to rank up. Do not let anyone tell you different, they are liars, I experienced it and I figured it out and you can too! Kudos to this guy for giving yall the right info! Love the vid!

"slow down a little bit more than a little" meaning, slowing down more than your understanding of a little. Basically slowing down to the point where the ball is faster than you for you to boost the ball where you can catch up faster to the ball to make a quicker chance in direction.

Basically what this means is doing things with purpose. I train with purpose as well as play the game and break my opponents down with purpose. You can ask yourself this when you watch your replays back. Try to be devil’s advocate to your own reasoning. Ask yourself; why am I hitting the ball here? What am I trying to gain? Then try to find a better option, if there isn’t one then your decision there was most likely a good one

the only thing keeping me away from ssl. ive felt this problem will never go away. i cant seem to fast aerial without being inaccurate, and i get a bad flip when im trying to recover or go for a shot too often.
@BoomaRL
@BoomaRL 6 ай бұрын
I’d recommend learning to take your finger off the stick more. People forget the beauty of RL is having complete & total control over the vehicle. If you feel those things are preventing your push to SSL then there’s still some more input efficiency to be done there. Poor kickoffs, poor shooting, & inaccurate aerials can also be caused by over correction. This can be fixed by not touching your stick once you’ve already done the correction you need. I’d highly recommend you go watch your own replays or ask an SSL to watch and see what’s causing your issue

@BoomaRL
@BoomaRL 5 ай бұрын
It’s a normal thing, pro players & myself change them up based on feeling every so often. I drift between settings because each type of settings present different benefits. It’s also one of the single ways I keep the game refreshing after playing it this long

You shouldn’t really need aerials at that rank but wouldn’t hurt to learn a directional air roll unless you’re comfortable with free air roll

I was the exact same way on my way up to SSL but when you play the game this long I finally realized I can be way more deadly of a player if I’m just efficient with my movement overall
@ShibbyRL

I firmly believe that time will fix a lot of these errors. A lot of players such as myself didnt have these videos to help players. But we are all human and there is a special power that we have and repetition and time will fix and make everything naturally more efficient to achieve what we all want to do. Just keep playing! Good video though

I play claw grip on my controller. I’ve been holding a controller like that since N64 because my hands were too small as a child. It became really natural to me even though I had no idea people learned the grip for competitive advantages in various games. So my index finger is actually pressing the Circle/Traingle/Square while my thumb presses jump
