It'd be handy to include a filter on your 'Live Aquarium Plants' page to sort plants by 'primarily root feeder' vs 'primarily water column feeder'.

They all do both, so that would probably be improbable... But, like he said, swords & "carpeting" type plants are mainly root feeders, stem plants are primarily column feeders... Remember though, all plants feed from both water column and roots/ substrate, it's the percentages that change from species to species... thanks

I started getting yellowing around the edges of leaves on some of my plants. I watched your video on plant deficiencies and saw I had an iron deficiency, used easy iron as prescribed for two weeks in addition to easy green and the problem went away. Protip on the root tabs, I poke a hole in the end and squeeze it once in the water to remove the air, then bury it. It stays buried then.

@@kai990 That's true, but on the other hand, most things we buy from China are basically cheap products that are not the best quality but get the job done. Sometimes I would like to have more access to things of better quality like fluval, stingray, kestle lights and stuff like that here or jn this case high quality Chinese brand lights from example. In the term of fertilizers for example we have tropica and seachem where I live so that i can find quite easily

I've been away from aquariums for more than fifty five years and seeing your videos has encouraged me to look into them again. We didn't have all the neat stuff that exists today to take care of fish and plants. You might be talking me into it again. I just want like a hundred gallon tank with some nice plants and discus and cardinals without the hazard of killing them all!!!!!!!

In all seriousness, I think it’s great that you’re providing practical solutions to people who want to dip their toes in the planted tank, so to speak. I have two planted dirt tanks capped with pool filter sand, and one fluval stratum tank (Which broke down very quickly) now capped with a coarse silica based sand, every one of your products helps maintain them beautifully! Thank you Cory, Candy and the team!

Even though I’m on the UK I’m loving your videos. Full of great advice. I’ve managed to balance my nitrate and nitrite levels thanks to your other videos, and my local pets at home were telling me a crock! I lost three fish and a cherry shrimp due to their bad advice. So pleased KZfaq recommended one of your videos to me

I am really enjoying your videos. They are very matter of fact and to the point. I am learning a lot from you as I re-enter this hobby after a 16 year hiatus. I recently ordered and received my 7 live plants from you. They were all in excellent condition, minus the banana plant, which was in still in pretty good condition, but it appears to be doing well. I am thoroughly impressed, however, with how healthy your plants were and how you packaged them. I'm new to the hobby and sorta took over a put together aquarium I purchased from a buddy. I've since upgraded EVERYTHING except the substrate. I didn't know about root tabs until this video. Thank you for this video. I've been using Easy Green for a few weeks now. I really like it. I was a bit alarmed when after using it for the first time there was a nitrates spike in my 40 breeder tank. It *is* a goldfish tank, so I questioned what I had fed them the day before dosing the tank. Anyway, it's a good fert, so I thank you for that. I'm wondering if you can do a video specifically about diatoms (brown algae), which is so often a challenge for folks. Thanks for another great video, Cory!

I use easy green and my plants look great! I do however need to get some root tabs because I bought the Ruby melon sword from you so that needs some fertilizer there. I do have well water and it is looking red so it looks great! Thank you Cory I love your products!

I bought easy green as my first liquid fert into the hobby and I cannot be happier. I was using some cheap root tabs with co2 and high light and I get tons of algae and plants weren't growing well because of the nutrient deficiency. I got a bottle of easy green and the plant growth was explosive. Algae also died down because the tank is more balanced. Yes my plants are not that red anymore but as long as they are healthy and growing fast, I don't mind all that much for now. Will definitely use this product from now on because it just works all in one bottle.

Great explaination. You don’t have to redo the “magic soil” products. Just like you said, just stick root tablets on them on regular basis. I usually start with half the recommended dosage and go from there, because each ecosystem is different (water, light, filtration, bioload, nutrients, plants).

We don't have any nutrients in our water unfortunately.. I need some easy green lol... I hear so many ppl raving about your products! I'm in the next time I need food for my plants. I have Elos aquasoil capped with eco complete planted substrate in a 20g high and a Beamswork DA FSPEC LED light. The plants were doing alright, but growing very slowly. I had some unopened easy grow root tabs but was skeptical, I decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did because the plant growth exploded. I have to trim the tank at least once a week now. I will be using these every few months for sure.

I put the UNS substrate in my aquarium and it buffered my PH below 6... I now only use Eco-Complete that stuff is amazing!

I've been using Easy Green for a month. I haven't gotten "explosive" growth, but my plants (Java fern, ludwigia and dwarf hairgrass) are nice and healthy. I don't use CO2.

Great video as always Cory. I'm looking into lighting for a 30G planted Tall tank. Right now i have low light plants that do fine with a sunlight halogen bulb, but I want to branch into Medium to high light plants. Which lighting fixture do you recommend to start some matting and mid-ground plants?

Thanks for honestly explaining that I don’t have to always add the iron or use the carbon free. I ordered my first set of your products and definitely am impressed with the pump dispenser and ease of use/measurement compared to the Seachem products I have been using. And, now I understand your root tabs which I left floating while I was messing with plants and they became unusable. I now realize that wasn’t a design defect. (Maybe some more detailed directions on the label?). Keep it up!

I recommend testing your water. My plants haven’t been doing that well even though I’ve done water changes and added nutrients. My phosphate was at 0.25 so I now know what the limiting factor was, it’s pretty difficult to tell the deficiency once algae covers those telltale signs.

Btw my favorite video(aside from Dean) is the greenhouses down in Texas, rogue cichlids? Awesome green oroject. Israel was the opposite of it, but still interesting. Green Texas!!!!

My favorite way to fertilize is through the circle of life.... when I set up my tanks I first add in the fish food(live black worms, live daphnia, scuds, etc) and let it cultivate as the water cycles. As the water cycles I add nicolg fertz. Then add in some guppies and let them breed for a bit and then put them back in their original tank and add in the fish I want into the tank.
