Also, stop trying to overtake in every corner. Find overtaking spots on the circuits that will make you lose least amount of time. Some examples: - Turn 1 at Red Bull Ring is not a good place to make a move because after it there is a long straight with hard braking zone. Instead try to overtake in the turns 3 and 4 (turn 4 leads to twisty section where it is easier to defend) - Good overtaking spots at Interlagos are turns 1 and 4, attempting overtakes in the twisty section will lose your time There are other examples, write them in the comments if you want.
@Super_GT
@Super_GT 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I really agree with this. Too many drivers overtake at the soonest opportunity when it isn't the best place to pass. You gotta weigh up the risk but also how much time you will lose from the pass. Often it's better to wait behind and overtake when you lose less time.

Small tip from me - if you're racing in Race C or the FIA races, then set up a private lobby and replicate the settings. Then run laps with the tyre and fuel degradation and get a better understanding of what the car will do as a race goes on. This will give you a much better idea of what to expect come race time and improve your results.

Here are some my tips that others gave me! Trail braking/ coasting- helps with keeping momentum and speed, no every turn you need to slam on the brakes. I think using the best car tip is cliche. I prefer to use cars that are best suited to your liking. Whether you're in a open lobby in sport mode use the cars your familiar with. Drive YOUR driving line. I've witnessed alot people follow other racers into grass or dirt. Or simply just drive off the track trying to follow another racers driver line.. we've all done it but I've learned if I just race my race and drive my line and not worry what the racer in front of me is doing most of time I wont crash. And last but not least! Know how and when to overtake!!!!!!!!!! Dont over take someone midway through the chicane of death on Seaside... dont lunge at someone when theres no opening on turn one on monza... if your faster then someone just wait to over take on a ideal part of the track.. Oh I forgot...if you run the McLaren F1 gr3.. if you cant keep your car from going side ways in a turn go race another car please....for the love of God your ruining the race for everyone else.

You don’t need to do one on Forza cause it’s quite simple: GT Sport - Move out of the way to make your opponent avoid your slip stream. Forza - move out of the way to make your opponent avoid dive bombing you. GT Sport - Use the track limits to reduce steering angle and carry more speed into corners. Forza - Use track limits to avoid being side swiped or punted.

*If you have any tips you want to add, reply and we could make this a 'superlist' of tips* Additional Top Tips (From a Forza player on GT Sport): 1.Instead of coasting around corners, make sure that you are applying half throttle instead. The cars don't rotate the same way that they do on Forza and so there is a massive advantage to be gained through a more constant throttle application than i was used to. 2.Another thing i see in the comments is people claiming that they listen to music whilst they drive: if i listen to music, i genuinely lose about half a second a lap just because my concentration is reduced(!) 3.Also, i spend more time qualifying than i do actually racing - if i turn up to a race without practice, my results are nowhere near as good as i find myself guessing as to what i need to do in order to go quickly 4.When watching replays, pay special attention to the gears that top players use - usually i find that top guys are using one gear higher/lower than i use myself, finding these mistakes usually make larger mistakes more clear and it is easier to therefore improve your pace. 5.If you are nervous when under pressure, you haven't practiced enough ;)

@Adrian_Fella
@Adrian_Fella 5 жыл бұрын
@@RavenwestR1 I think it's normal to be nervous in FIA Quali as it is pretty much make or break for the race. Key is to get a banker lap in that you know you can do 99/100 times, might be a second of your ultimate pace but then you can go for it on the 2nd run with new tyres and low fuel.
@TobinLeigh

@Bes1997_ 5 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with all your points but the first. Some corners actually need coasting, like Curva Grande in the chicane-less version of Monza or the Flugplatz corner in Nurburgring. If you go half throttle you go wide with certain cars (gr.3 for instance). It’s pretty much a corner-dependent factor.
@bigbrick2297
@bigbrick2297 5 жыл бұрын
I've witnessed strategies for professional GT sport racers and I once watched their replays. This is quite clever though They adjust their gear ratios so that their first gears are long. This gives them better smoothness in power control as they enter low speed turns.This smoothness reduces tyre wear which means that they will have more grip than the rest as the race continues. It's no longer about how fast you approach a turn, as long as you turn in smoothly and release the wheel in the same manner, then there's no trouble

Great video, thanks for the tips! Just expanding on a couple of things you talked about: Partial throttle mid corner: Some cars are almost undrivable without partial throttle mid corner. Two examples are the Gr3 458 Italia and Hurucan. These two cars have a very pointy front end, mid/rear engine and are both naturally aspirated. This means that when you lift off the throttle they have a lot of engine breaking and when you turn in, the car rotates very quickly. This can cause the car to oversteer known as “lift off oversteer” even when you feel like you’re not going very quickly (sometimes I feel like the tyre physics is a bit whack, like driving on ice). If you use partial throttle in these cars, just enough so that you’re not engine braking, it’s much easier to turn the car in slow/medium speed corners without it snap oversteering. At higher speeds it’s not so bad because of increased downforce. Conversely there are some cars that have a very strong diff lock under acceleration which can cause understeer so partial throttle during the corner can cause you to drift wide but you can still balance throttle application to get you through a corner without slowing down and without understeering. Braking: Its common for people to brake too much into a corner. It’s a fine balance but if you carry more speed with Gr1-4 cars you have more downforce. The trick is to make sure that you release/reduce brake application before turning in so you don’t overwhelm the front tyres and make the car understeer, make sure you turn in at the correct spot and apply just enough throttle to stop the car slowing or lift off oversteering. I think that understanding the mechanics of the cars helps a lot with understanding how to make the most of it. The key things to understand would be tyres and not overwhelming them with turning and braking at the same time, limited slip differentials and how they lock up when a torque is applied to them (this can be torque from acceleration or engine breaking) and weight balance of a car such as loading up the front tyres progressively as you turn in or the rear tyres as you exit and how the weight on the tyres changes as you go over crests, through dips, around banked corners etc. Cars are very interesting, technologically advanced machines and their designs vary greatly so having a good understanding of what makes each car unique will help you to get the most out of them. GT Sport has some very realistic vehicle mechanics built in which I think is very cool.

I really only have two things to add to your list. Use all the track. The fastest way through corners is in the straightest possible line. This kind of goes hand in hand with your track limits point. Always look ahead to the next corner. Your hands go where your are looking. Try not to stare at the car ahead as you will more than likely follow their line, and sometimes off the track

For your number... 5. Qualify w/ ghost on. Get used to driving as close to it as you can. Helps when racing close w/ other cars. 7. Watch replay of your practice & use pause to find good breaking markers if the usual ones don't work. Mult markers for the same situation R good if another car is blocking your sight of UR ideal marker. 8. Experiment in practice to find the limits in each corner. Some tracks have harsher track limits & sometimes only at certain corners (ie Le Mans, Tokyo Expressway) 9. Slip streaming will increase your speed requiring U to break a tad earlier or change your line. It takes practice to mod your line w/o loosing lots of time or running off track. 10/11/16. Some high powered cars really benefit by waiting for full throttle untill the car is almost totally streight. Can sacrifice speed but help lots in tire life & faster over the race. Helps to do more of a late apex line. 15. If a car is more than 0.5 sec behind it's near impossible for them to make an immediate clean pass (watch out for the slipstream) 17. Back off the throttle / short shift while in slipstream.

Sorry another comment here concerning learning the tracks without cone markers. If you go through your main screen game play options you will see a section under campaign called circuit experience. This area will walk you through each section of the track in a timed event. This will then be put together in a single lap timed event. The real important part of doing this is, when you load the section you are working on, in the top right of the screen there is a video with commentary. Only gripe I have with the video is that it is only done in kmh. But, the commentator will point out track details on where to get your general brake points. Some instances I have seen are marker boards, barrier breaks, official booths, etc. The commentator will also give you a broad comment about braking strength, lifting off accelerator, feathering brakes, etc.

1:42 I've actually stopped using those in favor of the floating markers because running into cones tossed into the race line by people that don't see them (eg. not running them and therefore don't exist for them) can have rather disastrous results on your race.

All of these tips I learned playing F1 since the PS2 days. I’ve learnt how to transfer all of skills and experience to Gran Turismo Sport. It’s very similar but things will be slightly different because they’re different games. But the principals are still the same.

I am about as beginner as you can get, to this game, going into my second week. But, having been a professional OTR driver for several years I have a few things that I do. Especially when learning courses. Fuel and tire conservation in long corners under power. If you are holding it in 3rd and are half way or higher up on the tach, shift to 4th. Your torque drops reducing tire wear and chance of spin out, and your rpms drop so you use less fuel. Myself I shoot for anything above 1/3 tach, because I can feel out the corners and see if I can hold it at a higher rate of speed. You have to learn the limits of every car you intend to drive. One thing I have noticed about the cone markers help. If you are not using racing tires, they are way off. You need to brake a significant distance further back down the track to be able to get down to proper speed of the corner.

Hey dude! I just started playing GT sport like a month ago, I got it actually 4 years ago when I got my ps4 but I never payed too much attention to it until now that I didn't have anything else to play. I only played the original GT on the PS1 and loved it, and bow playing this one my muscle/brain memory showed off a bit. I'm quite enjoying it and I'm doing some daily races now after getting 100% gold in every challenge/experience/driving school's tests... currently sitting at DR C about 1/4 bar and SR S 🙃 and quite enjoying this game thinking why didn't I started earlier... this is a great video with loads of information. So far, I'm loving the GT community... they are all so far very friendly and helpful. I should be getting a wheel soon.. playing with the dualshock feels like running with an iron ball chained to your leg. Thanks for the vid mate! Hope to find you in a race one day.

Well, if you’re watching this video it’s because you’re trying to get better at the game. I started playing about 1 year ago thanks to super GT and I’ve learned a lot from him, but also I’ve learned a lot on my own and here are some tips. And this are most COMMON SENSE. 1) if you’re on a slip stream take that into consideration. Means you have less resistance thus your car will take longer than usual to brake. When I started I didn’t understand this so I’ll punt most of the guys on the braking zone and I didn’t understand why my car would brake quicker when I’m practice. 2) FOLLOW YOUR OWN LINE. When you approach a corner try to turn just as you do when in practice and this is something that even happens in real F1 and supercars races. If you concentrate too much on the guy in front if he goes wide and goes off the track most probably you will as well. And it happens really often in every racing sport. 3) ADJUST TO DIFFERENT SITUATIONS. When you practice enough you’ll know when to brake and when to turn for maximum speed thru corners and to use the entire track on your favor, BUT if you have someone who just launched into the inside of the turn BE AWRE you’re gonna have to go a bit slower then usual on that turn and take a wider line. Also if you’re defending into that corner you’re gonna have to brake significantly early so you don’t slide into the other car into the turn. It’s a common mistake some guys make and I take advantage by taking the outside and just letting them drive off the track or switch into the inside lane midturn because they took it too fast and missed the apex. And most important 4) KNOW WHEN TO HOLD BACK. If you’re in 2nd position and the guy in front is just as fast as you or faster. DONT start attacking halfway into the race. What I’d do is let him know I’m not trying to pass and believe it if he’s fast enough to be in 1st he’ll understand that you’re just trying to build a gap between you and the pack behind. So work with the guy on front and just try to stay close to him and let the rest of the pack stay behind. Those are just a few things i wanted to share of what I’ve learned in the short time I’ve racing in this game. One last tip, if you’re the guy on 1st and you know for a fact that the driver behind you is just faster then you THEN PLEASE do us all a favor and let him pass. But holding back ( in a dirty manner) a faster driver you’re just putting yourself in a disadvantage because you’ll be wasting time defending and being dirty thus inviting the rest of the pack into the party and at the end of the day you end up going off track and loosing many more positions. IF you’re from Brazil or Argentina please ignore that last tip. It doesn’t apply to you, many thanks and don’t reproduce.

Great video Super, as always. Another tip I can add is learn how to position your car defensively. When you think a car is close enough to try and overtake, think about how you can move to the inside of the track to cover, and how that might affect your corner exit etc.

Really good video Super GT. All good points! My two cents on learning a track. Use all the learning aids to get an idea of where braking, turn in and apex points are. Then start to find real points on the track that match up closely and start to remove the learning aids. Pay attention to track surfaces, some parts of the track just have more grip. Watch for track cambers. Slight positive camber can increase corner speed and may not be on the suggested racing line. Negative cambers while send you wide. Turn 2 at Panorama is good example. Test the curbs. See how the car reacts. Some curbs can reduce cornering angle, some can help rotate the car and other will send you flying off to the Realm. Concentrate on one thing at a time and watch the time delta, if its a blue up arrow it means that what you just did is an improvement, try to remember what you did or check the replay. To properly master, or at least be competent, at a car/track combo may take hundreds of laps.You should always have a specific goal in mind. Don't just run laps and hope for the best. Be specific, concentrate on one thing at a time, master it and move on the next thing. As for driving techniques and race kraft, there are hundreds of videos on youtube, some are done by professional race drives and others by very good gamers.

This was a helpful video for me to watch. I've subscribed to you awhile back, simulation racing has been one my favorite things to watch because I enjoy driving cars irl but could never do what you see in these games. I'm gonna be starting out on Forza Motorsport 7, with a Logitech g29 bundle. I was testing the games physics with a controller running on 3 cars; Veloster Turbo, Civic Type R, and Evo Lancer... and it made me realize that I'm not aware of brake lines, lines in general, speed managing, etc. I have a long way to go but I'm not entirely a lost cause. In my 2 or 3 sessions I jumped into online right away and then single play and had a good time, rarely went off track, I did fall behind others with the first corner of each track but that's expected. You can't be a pro on your first day unless you have natural talent. But anyway, I enjoy your videos and this guide is handie. Im gonna see if I can find spirited people to guide me on private sessions because there's nothing more I want to do than enjoy driving with other people and not having to smack them off the track at 150mph ;)

It’s so frustrating because I want it to be more like the real world or just 2 wheels of 2 wheels on. Not all 4. But if you don’t your gonna get beating. Also this applies to F1 games to, smashing down the gears at fast as possible. I do it more like real life, but you can shave of plenty of time if you do it really fast. I hate that. But you gotta do it if you wanna be fast.

Great video Steve! I think this really sums up most of the things tbf. However from my experience I think its also very smart to join a league or to join a group of friends/other players in (serious) lobbies. I think this really helps you with being consistent, especially because most leagues host endurance races, which do really help your consistency overall. Amd as you know, consistency is key in racing. Not only will it help with that, but I think it also helps with getting less nervous whenever someone is really pushing you because they want to overtake you. Also you can ask the faster guys in that league for tips/tricks for certain tracks/other conditions, for example if you’re really struggling with tyre wear. And last but not least, its also just very fun to get involved in a community/league and to chat with the other people! Also a mistake that people make, is that they look were the car is going instead of were they want the car to go, this really helped me out aswell when I started out on GT Sport. Because if you look were the car is going, most of the people will probably automatically bring the car more to that direction were their car is pointing to. And when you actually look in the direction you want the car to go (the apex while entering the corner, and the next straight while exiting the corner) you will automatically bring your car to that direction. When I started out on this game it really helped me to consistently hit the apex of the corner. This are some tips I think really helped me out at the beginning, and ofcourse, just practice, practice and practice!

Trail braking is possibly the most important thing to learn in GT Sport. I frequently race against a couple of friends i know from karting - so they know racing lines, throttle control etc. But i can gain several tenths a corner through proper braking technique, which allows me to close in and carry greater mid-corner speed. Conversely, i lose out most of my time to aliens in the braking zones. Their braking technique is just that touch better than mine, which adds up to about 0,5-1 second a lap.

Well, that's exactly what the cones are for. We use them in driving events at the racetrack (for real--I instruct for a few car clubs) and the two cones mean "brake here" and the single cone means "turn in here". Then there's a cone at the apex and another cone at track out. Exactly like what you see in GT. The better technique is to brake a bit after the two cones, and then let off the brake slightly as you turn in, maintaining the brakes (50% or less, this is called trail braking) almost to the apex, then transitioning to power as you pass the apex and track out, with throttle being applied progressively as you unwind the steering wheel. I can't seem to do it with a controller, but that's how its done.

I think I might disagree with the use the best car point, though mostly for players that are a bit less experienced. I think it's a lot more important to use a car you're very familiar with and are comfortable driving, you'll make a lot less mistakes and will put in much more consistent lap times, which before like A+ and S rating that's usually more important that absolute raw speed.

Yesterday I was getting kicked out of the races, with the text "you'll get kicked out with the next collision". The problem was, I got those messages while on the rolling start. Four races in a row. Downgraded from SR. A to SR. C in those four races

Oh god. I went from sr S to sr C / D and stuck in hell. I was a consistent a polite "99" driver, always with the best manners, then East Tokyo narrow walls roughed things up a bit and stuck me with A/B drivers. That descended even more. Now majority of my penalties are by way of mistakes from other c/d drivers despite my proper driving. Admittedly I earned some because I became revengeful and slapped some of them sideways through anger. I also got that red text "You'll get kicked out" line a few times, only mine came seconds before the very end of the race, ironically it was a race I came in first, too. I should add I did nothing wrong that race and it was the other drivers ramming me.
