As a local pro I always will find the next fastest people on the track and try to benchmark the same section every lap. To see if I gained time or lost time on the person in the next section over. If there's nobody close in speed I just try to catch and pass as many people as I can in one practice session.

I’m thinking the question was geared towards not having anyone to ride with. The answer is given to ask and follow faster rider…..but there is no other rider. 🤷‍♂️.
