This video shows you how to get Voice and Text Calling over WiFi for free using an old Android or iPhone and a WiFi Connection. By using an app called Text Now or any VoIP app that is available from iTunes or the Google Play Store, you can have a phone that calls and texts to anyone in the United States for FREE!

Thanks for the helpful information on answering my thoughts on what to do with with SE . No need to save for PureTalk, Xfinity, Century Link or ma bell but still make calls with an apple with WiFi as a Preservative.

Questions would be why need ringing alerts if only would work on wifi, well I have a phone now that data only is working ( I think is government connectivity program ) so I want to use a app instead of paying full price for what I don't need. Or just pay less for this app service which does the same thing ...

You mentioned something about spending a few bucks and running on the Sprint network. But you never demonstrated that. This is the point that I wanted to learn about in your video.

I'm attempting this RIGHT now, today --with an iPhone 5S, so far it's working. Actually TextNow RUNS on the Sprint LTE network, at NO cost to you, NO WiFI needed to Call & Text!! This IS STILL a VOIP, so it's confusing, but via the Sprint LTE they are connecting you to the Sprint WiFi (I think,) & the service is paid via ADS shown in your Text or Call inbox. I believe there are UP GRADES, should you become bothered by all the ads, I think? Again, just setting this up myself.

Hmmm, I'd check the settings. I've never had that problem. You do have to be sure you are connected to WiFi.

I had a problem with each, google voice - need a carrier based /non VoIP phone number to verify. So not perfect. With textnow or talkatone etc. Caller on landline or mobile is unable to leave voicemail. Anyone else have a solution for "no carrier Wifi full phone service?

Hmmmmm. Good question. What if you bought a pre paid number to open the Google voice account. It might be a 1 time fee, but then you would be all set. I haven't tried it, but it sounds like it would work.

Yes. GV does require that. Once you put in a number, they will text you a verification but that will be the last time they contact you on that number.

You can also just use something like messenger and call and text strictly from wifi with no data or service needed

Great question! The answer is no. Facetime is separate from phone service. It is a video service offered by Apple exclusively.
