Hey George! Thank you for your comment. In North America, I would say only about 60% of all techs have trades. So there is still a lot of opportunities for you! Best of luck on your Course. Cheers Mikey

you did a fantastic job explaining everything! I have a follow up question; I have been recreational climbing and doing some tree work. I also own an apartment building I want to use rope access to tuckpoint and paint in Iowa. which if any rope access level will i need to do it legally. also, will my petzyl Sequoria make the cut for acceptable harness's.

Thank you so much for this! I've been waiting for this episode ever since you announced the cannel in the NSC group :) And I do have a question: to your best knowledge what do you think it's like getting a job in rope access given the current COVID situtation - like, do you think it's worth taking a course now? or maybe hold off for a bit? Also, it would be reeeeeeaaaaaalllllyyyy awesome if you could do an episode going a bit in-depth about the kind of work you can get when you don't have a trade, where / how to look for it... salaries... that kinda spiel. Keep it up man!

I have a couple questions pertaining to rock sampling in hazardous conditions. I'm wondering what insurance looks like for a consultant on a project like this, as well as how much manpower would be used and what the daily rate would be. Would love to actually have a conversation about this. It is difficult to find info online

This is helpful I'm a 35 year old amateur climber. I was in the music industry but that didn't work out. Figured I love being up high and climbing. So why not do it as a career. Weird that there's not a lot of RA certs in Los Angeles. Why is that?
@theropeaccessandclimbingpo2380

Hey there Kilo, Thank you for your message. There is rope access everywhere however some times more about who you know then what you know. If you live in a large city, then first start out with contacting window washing companies. Someone in town is washing windows from rope. That being said. Oil and gas is always an option, rock stabilization companies and since your in Cali. wind power is a big thing. As for training. I dont know the area and who maybe offering it. But worse case, you can always head to Reno and train with RopeWorks or Vegas and train with Altius
@aerialrescuesolutions3277
@aerialrescuesolutions3277 2 жыл бұрын
Just Google search SPRAT training and a whole bunch of companies will show up. As Mikey said, Las Vegas may be the closest to you in LA, Jim.

Hey, thank you for your comment. I would say try out rock climbing at the climbing gym before spending all that money on this course. Then if climbing is fun and not super scary then get yourself into a rope access course. Cheers Mikey

Hey Mikey I love the videos but I wanted to touch on something you say here that is not true. Being IRATA certified does not allow you to work for SPRAT companies. IRATA companies are IRATA companies and SPRAT companies are SPRAT companies. Some take both but but there are a lot of companies here in the US that are SPRAT only. If what you were saying was true no one would bother with SPRAT. The company I work for right now is SPRAT only and so was the last one.
@theropeaccessandclimbingpo2380
@theropeaccessandclimbingpo2380 2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, Ok, well i have to put it this way then. That is not a SPRAT Requirement. That would be a company thing. Unlike IRATA companies, they can only hire IRATA techs
@Jakehasnosoul
@Jakehasnosoul 2 жыл бұрын
@@theropeaccessandclimbingpo2380 I think I see what you are saying. because the SPRAT requirements never really specify that RAT's must be SPRAT certified? is that what you are talking about?
@theropeaccessandclimbingpo2380
@theropeaccessandclimbingpo2380 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jakehasnosoul Correct. So, if the company you are working for is SPRAT they can hire whoever they choose to. Now if the company you are working for decides to boycott IRATA Techs. Thats on them. However if you work for an IRATA Audited company. IRATA decides for them that all techs working on ropes must carry an IRATA Certificate. SO. Any IRATA Tech can work for any IRATA or SPRAT Company. Yet SPRAT Techs can only work for SPRAT companies
