I started my channel in 2022 and did it for 6 month and then stopped for almost a year and started back this past September and I have been watching your videos since 2022 and doing my best implementing your advice and it has worked. I have a gaming channel and I have changed the theme of the game 4 times trying to find that I can actually enjoy long term and it took a year and a half to do that. I went from Hunt showdown to Star Wars Battlefront 2 to Battlefield 2048 then No Mans Sky and now Formula 1 sim racing which is my true enjoyment and passion and I am also good at it.

Sorry maybe is a dumb question, but i don't get it, if you are let's say telling a story, in my case i have an educationla channel, if i see the dip as he showed and than i cut out from the video... ho can the new video will be smooth on those particular moments of the clip, as i have taken out a part of it? How do i make it flow naturally then? Will apprecietr any feedback ❤

@@RC29972 Hey no worries that's actually a great question! Kind of complicated answer but I'll try my best. I think you have to use some discretion where to use this tactic or not. If there is a severe dip then cutting out a whole section might be worth it. However, if it interrupts with the storytelling and cutting it would ruin the flow of the video then it is probably not worth it IMO. If you can cut a small part of the dip and not have it effect the flow of the video or that particular section then it is likely worth it. As I've started doing this I've also become more mindful in my editing, meaning crafting content that could be easier to trim later if necessary. Hope that is helpful☺

This even works with music, following these steps I've learned what retains people's interest and my videos have gone from 3 views to 60 views practically overnight. there are no mistakes with marcus. he is showing you "proof" that he knows what he's talking about, which he does. shows it on screen, doesn't have to mention it so he doesn't seem like he's bragging to those with 3 subscribers. And you listen closer because he's making $20k a month and you're not. Pay attention to mr jones. it's free.

Thank you. I'm trying out a new format for a new channel, where I use shorts to teach a daily "Italian word of the day". I'm having trouble getting traffic on my channel, as well as subs, I'm currently at 28 subs (and I appreciate those 28 people!) This video was helpful, people usually drop after my four second intro (which is in Italian) and I've already starting filming my next batch in English instead. (instead of starting with "la parola italiana del giorno", I'm starting with "the Italian word of the day", since the target audience are English speaking people who are interested in learning Italian. My first of the new batch goes live in four days so hopefully I'll see some improvement. I appreciate the video.

Holy crap I never knew you could do this with youtube editor. I have a vid right now that is doing well but could be taking off if it werent for this big like 15% drop off halfway through the intro, especially since that part of the video is not really necessary for the rest of the video's subject. Nice yea I've done this to a couple where the intro was too long etc. Problem is with adventure videos they usually have music overlayed and sometimes it kills the flow and timing if i cut in post 😅 good tip/reminder for me tho!

Quick question Marcus! After you trimmed your video, did you experience a dip in views initially before the views took off? I had a video that had been up for 5 days and had gotten about 2,000 views - but the retention was low, there was one point in the video that seemed to turn viewers off. I trimmed the offending clip out of the video but then my views dropped from about 20 - 30 views an hour down to 1 or 2 views an hour! Most views (over 90%) were coming from the KZfaq home page before. If you trim the video and push a new version out, does that mean the algorithm "resets" the video to Day 1, as if it just got published? I'm worried that by trying to fix my retention, I've actually messed up my views.

This is actually a very interesting advice. Does it works with KZfaq Shorts too? I just started this channel a week ago and I'm already seeing some shorts get kind of "frozen" after they've been shown to some people.

Mate, how is it that you have a pop stopper like a tennis racquet and a microphone the size of a salami, but your audio has more echo than the KZfaq algorithm?!

Wow I’m gonna try this. Same thing with my intro I lose 30% of viewers in the first 10 seconds. And there’s some videos where I know it should have got more views based on my niche etc. makes sense though the algorithm is seeing that people are dropping off after 10 seconds. And it also makes sense if you cut it out the algorithm might push it out. Thanks!! Hoping it works!!
