I have done most of what you said although I threw out my mattress and box spring in the garbage which I wrapped first in plastic. I put D.E powder all over my bedroom floor, along the base boards, and in receptacles I haven't seen a bug in almost 3 days and my apartment is also getting fumigated in the next 2 days. And I also got a bed cover with a zipper for my fouton and that has been where I have been sleeping the last couple of days. I also have been putting my blanket and sheets in the dryer daily. My pillow has a bed bug proof casing aswell. So far so good. Will update later. Ps d.e powder really frickin works well

Thanks! I used it last week and let it sit for 3 days because I was out of town. I added the bed bug foggers instead of the other items, just couldn't find it. It worked perfect. Vacuuming the DE is a lot. Still hasnt all gone away. But I'll take it because there are no bugs. Thank you so much!

Just watched your video...OUTSTANDING job of explaining how to address the issue! I have a pest control company coming today to perform an inspection, assessment, and provide a quotation! After only a day or two of personal investigation, I had quickly become convinced that DIY remedies would not be effective. But, after just now watching your presentation, I am inclined to try your approach! I am still keeping my appointment for my 'no charge - no commit' consultation w/ the pest control company, but at least I now see a DIY approach as a viable option! something for you guys to remember, that I don't know if Mr Hardware mentioned: for DE and other such powders to be effective they MUST stay dry. When you are spraying any kind of liquid to tackle the infestation, do not let it get on the DE, because then that DE that got saturated will be worthless.

My box and mattress is on the floor I used the powder on the walls sprayed my beds and wrapped them in plastic and wash and dry everything every 3 days so far so good thanks for the info

Excellent video.

I use products from Harris, J.T.Eaton and Enforcer (Zep). All with success so don't go too far out of your way for any particular brand. All of them have a water based and an oil based spray and Diatomaceous earth.

It takes a while and sometimes you have to treat 2_3 times I sprayed liquid then powder , threw out some furniture that was just to infested & in about 2 weeks they started to go away I had to reapply but was good for about a year then I just had to start process again before it gets bad

I used to live at a home that had a terrible bed bug issue after a family visitor brought them in on their luggage about a decade ago. It was terrible! Diatomaceous earth is a must if you want to get these things under control, and you have pour it around light fixture covers as well. Also spray the strongest beg buy spray to get rid of the eggs. The eggs can withstand extreme heat and also hatch after three years. You might think you have them under control and before you know it they're back, so stay proactive. And if it comes down to it hire an exterminator and do everything exactly as they tell you to if you want to get rid of these things.

Hello, my mom recently found put she has bed bugs in her bedroom. We threw her mattress/box spring out immediately. We had inspection come out and see how if the bd bugs where really bad in the home and they o ly found 1 bed bug in her room however they quoted us a piece of $1,900 to treat the whole house since they aren't allowed to treat so glee rooms only. How do reccomend we go about treating her bedroom? Once treated can we get the carpets professionally cleaned?

DE is good stuff. I had a cat with tapeworms, sprinkled it on his food, got rid of them. I also use it in my chicken pen, and the horse barn. A good wormer also.

Time, thank you. I applied the methods, and mattress is lightly saturated, threw out my pillows just have one sheet to cover up at night. Waiting now at 3 AM for the matt to dry and get some sleep. Im pretty sure I caught it early as there is no fecal stains except for the pillows which are now gone. A few blood stains. Hoping this works thanks!

Careful with the spray that you don't wet the diatomaceous earth. If it gets wet it turns into wet clay and becomes useless. Should it get wet, you'll have to wipe up the area and apply more diatomaceous earth.

If you put the DE down first like he says, you'll find your wetting it when you start using the insecticide. It's all about it's dryness. Better to do the insecticide first, surely.

The soap dish idea is great but they can't climb the slick surface, so something needs done to the outside or else you'll only catch ones coming OFF the bed.

Another thing; DE powder is excellent, but if you are using the spray distributor to spread the powder, you will need to wear a face mask. If this stuff gets in your lungs it can do a lot of damage, even causing COPD. Once the DE has settled it is fine/safe..just use with caution..

I used wax pledge prefer not generic or store brand. Sprayed wax up near ceiling/lower floor baseboards and corners. I used four cans for 1200 sq foot than heavily shampooed/steam heat carpet until water clear. I saved landlady thousands in fees. 😆 wax incase eggs nymps cannot merge out of eggs AND wax heavily coates adults, adults do not get very far

One tip I use is buy cheap plastic sheeting. I Put powder all over bed, Mattress, couch, or whatever. I put plastic sheet over everything trapping them inside with powder. Place a small blanket over plastic sheets to sit on furniture. Also wash and dry darker sheets or blankets in hottest setting and dry. Need HOT water to kill. Cold water doesn't kill them. Store away in storage tote. Temporarily use white sheets so its easier to see them. Then in a week or two or when you don't see them.. sweep vacuum powder off outer furniture. Leave powder underneath or in furniture. Repeat as necessary. For box springs you can cut the bottom fabric off and powder all in it. A dust pan is Great for channeling powder. A couple of years ago I've had One EPIC infestation. Hundreds if not thousands. Killed every last one of them! Powder + Plastic Sheets + white or light collored blankets pillow cases and sheets + constantly checking = You can defeat them.

Go easy on the diamatecious earth it's silica gets into your lungs. Permanently put it on and spread out thinly with a paint brush and wear a mask light application

After suffering bedbugs for months, I finally found salvation through lightly dusting all their hiding places with diatomaceous earth (non-edible version). It's truly the most effective solution, and cheap too.

How to get rid of bed bugs if you can't afford an exterminator. If it's a bad infestation throw away your mattress and bed frame and get a new one; if you can afford that. If not, vacuum your mattress really really good make sure you get into the little folds and crevices. Steam your mattress if possible; you can skip this step if you want . Vacuum your bed frame really really well. Vacuum your floor really well. Wash all of your blankets with HOT WATER, and dry on really really hot heat . Do your clothes as well . Get DE POWDER.. spread that lightly on your bed frame, in any cracks, lightly on the mattress , and anywhere where there is bed bugs... Put DE powder on floor LIGHTLY, let sit for 4 hours then vacuum it up or you can leave it .
