Under eye circles or darkness are most commonly due to pigmentation, vascular changes under thin skin, or anatomic/structural changes. Lifestyle and genetics can contribute to all.
How to get rid of under eye dark circles will depend on what is the cause. To determine how to get rid of undereye dark circles start with the eyelid stretch test.
“The eyelid stretch test” can be used to determine what kind of dark circles you have to best get rid of under eye darkness.
Stretch your skin under your eyes in the direction of your cheek.
If the dark color remains the same you it is most likely due to pigmentation
If the color worsens it is probably due to blood vessels or very thin skin
If it improves drastically, structural factors are playing the most important role
Pigmentation:
“Brownish hue under and/or around eyes
Vascular:
“Bluish Hue” Thin under-eye skin increasing the visibility of blood vessels
Structural:
Loss of fat in the under-eye area due to aging, weight loss creates hollowing or shadow effect

Omg! This was great info. Especially about the line on the nose! I noticed it recently, well I noticed it before but didn’t think twice on it. And I knew it was something that developed because when I look at my pictures from when I was a kid, you don’t see it! I definitely want to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist now so that I can get help with starting a skincare routine and help with my dark circles. Thanks Dr. !

I have had dark circle around my eyes since childhood, with under the eye being a bit darker. My first school photo shows the dark circles at the age of 5. When I am sick or tired, they get darker. Now I am 75, and it would be nice, even at this age, to finally no longer wake up in the morning and not have to worry about using a concealer to tone down the under eye darkness. My father also had dark circles around his eyes,, so I figure it is genetic. Do not drink or smoke, and drink 8-9 glasses of water/day.

@@GriimePrincess Do not waste your money on the Dr. V R products. I purchased the kit, and it was half empty, I personally did not find any difference, and if you google the questionable doctor, lots of people are saying the same thing. Dr. V is a fraud. She started her youtube chanel offering advise, for the sole purpose to sell shady prodcuts! The only plus is that I wash may face with products that work for my skin. Which I appreciate, other than that the kit is still sitting my bathroom not finished, as the results were not satisfying.

There’s new data that suggests that under eye filler doesn’t dissolve after 6-9 months as previously thought. The filler actually migrated south as shown on MRI. Therefore, would PRP be a better alternative to undereye filler?

So what I have is the vascular where you can see the veins under my eyes & I usually always cover that up if I go out Do you recommend the multi peptide cream under a concealer covered by sunscreen? Dr. Alexis Please tell difference between Potassium azeloyl diglycinate and azelaic acid. Which one is more effective for PIH and PIE in what persentage? currently I am using 20% azelaic acid. What is the effective % of Potassium azeloyl diglycinate as 20% azelaic acid?
