I love your videos, Elle. You have beautiful skin...I would love to see you do makeup on someone with truly textured skin, ie wrinkles and acne scars. I feel like I look less textured before my makeup so I know I’m not doing something right. If you have already done this I could’ve missed it. I’m fairly new to the KZfaq community.

I LOVE the Dr. Dennis Gross Peel Pads for daily use. I use the extra strength version. It keeps my pores clean, and texture at bay. I use a heavy duty exfoliator once a month. Currently I’m using a 30% Glycolic peel, and a 50% Lactic Acid peel. These are NOT ph balanced. You must have experience with medical grade peels, so as no to cause a chemical burn. I recommend seeing your dermatologist, or nurse esthetician. They will start you off with a low percentage acid, and gradually build to stronger percentages as your skin adapts. I strongly believe in chemical exfoliants. In my opinion they keep the skin clear, and youthful. I’m in my early forties, and people believe I’m in my early thirties. Elle is amazing. She’s definitely well educated in skincare, and I’ve used many of her recommendations. I’ve never been disappointed. The only item I’ve added to my skincare routine that I was previously unaware of is an essence. My favorite, hands down, is by Tatcha. It’s a bit on the high end side, but worth every penny. It’s free of silicone’s, fragrance, phthalate’s, parabens, and other undesirable ingredients. It truly assists in hydrating the skin, and allows for optimum absorption of your other skincare products. I’ve noticed that my skin is more clear and supple since adding it to my skincare regimen. If you don’t want to invest in the Tatcha Essence try The Perfect World Age Defense Treatment Lotion with White Tea by Origins. While not promoted as an essence it works in the same manner, and it’s only $25. The ingredients are wonderful. It contains thermus thermophilus ferment extract. (TTF) is a specialized bacterium strain found in shallow marine hydrothermal systems and low-saline solfataric springs - the muddy waters near volcanic areas. Testing has found it to be particularly effective in soaking up free radicals produced by UV exposure. It also protects against dark spots, wrinkles and blemishes and is believed to prevent five years of aging with six months of use. It’s a beautiful product. I alternate between this, and the Tatcha essence. As an aside, if you’re looking for a new cleanser/makeup remover, the Modern Friction Cleansing Oil with Radiance Boosting White and Purple Rice is beautiful. It removes makeup easily, and thoroughly. It’s also an amazing cleanser. I usually us it in the morning to remove any skin treatments I may have used the night before, and oils that accumulated during the night. It cleanses the skin without stripping your skin. I’d never used Origins brand until recently, and I’m extremely impressed. I plan to explore the brand further. Farmacy is another fabulous brand. The cleansing balm and mask are brilliant. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone looking to expand there skincare options.

I am SO glad you covered this topic. I can't be the only one with dry & textured skin which is very frustrating since most cosmetics targeting dry/mature skin has a dewy or illuminating finish & most matte foundations/ powders are oil inhibiting. Grrr. I've had crepy texture around the inner corner of my eyes since I was a kid. I've always avoided frosted eyeshadow because it looked scaly. Actually found out just recently I have eczema which answered a lot of questions regarding my skin issues & why acne treatments didn't work. Anyways, I do most of what you demonstrated in the video having figured out by trial & error. Before there was beauty blenders I used the little triangle wedge sponges & pressed my powder or foundation into my skin to get a smooth looking surface. Beauty blenders, primers & setting/primer mists are the best innovations the cosmetics industry has come up with in 30 years imo!

Thanks for another great video. I just thought I'd add a cheaper option for powder that minimises texture is the Elf undereye powder. I use it to set my concealer without drying that area out but also to spot minimise texture like you did toward the end. I use it all over my nose & a little either side where I have the biggest problems & it really smoothes it nicely. Not many ppl can afford La Mer... maybe 1% of your viewers, if that. Something to keep in mind as I don't think you mentioned any affordable options as examples to use here but twice La Mer popped up. Much love xo

Home run once again, Elle. Via your advice my foundation application regime begins with the Milk Blur Stick (it rocks!). My evening ends with the Dr. Dennis Gross Pads. I compared the exfoliation pads with the Dermalogica Daily Resurfacer at night followed by Dermalogica Daily Microfolient in the morning. Although both products were effective Dr. Gross Pads won. I have a lot of texture and large pores (age 62) but the Milk Blur Stick along with the pads have helped. Also, by using the Beauty Blender versus hands or brush was again proven to minimize my badly textured skin. Thanks for all you do!!!!

Hi another day, another comment!😜 So I bought one of the Sephora boxes that had brightening from head to toe stuff...😳it's late btw. It has the Dennis Grossman daily peel makeup prep pads. Only thing I'm hesitant about is they are extra strength. Since they are daily & I don't seem to be having any reactions to anything in a while do u think they are really strong? I want the Tatcha oil so bad! It keeps getting kicked down my wishlist...Ugh kids!😏j/k.

Wow! Your skin looks gorgeous with and without makeup. I'm curious if you've even used Urban Decay Velvetizer as a setting powder and what you think of it? I have very dry/textured skin but I also have large pores so I'm on the hunt for a powder that's going to blur and smooth everything over. The Sephora smoothing powder you mentioned sounds interesting, maybe I'll look into that. Anyway, thank you for another great video!

Melissa Rose I use UD velvetiser as a setting powder and I love it. I'm 46. It doesn't sit in my pores or crease into wrinkles. It's very finely milled and blends into skin well. I love the way it looks. I have slightly dry skin with an oily t zone and it helps control oil and doesn't dry out the rest of my face. I don't know how it would perform on very dry skin but it's my holy grail.

Just an FYI the Dennis gross peel pads contains several irritant fragrance extracts. Also, Has a pH level that prevents its AHA ingredients from functioning as exfoliants, so, that is really not the correct ingredients for sensitive skin! It may help in the short term but long term use can cause more damage to skin than good!

First off you look gorgeous in this video ! I love your hair secondly I am more confused now than I was previously. I’m getting such mixed reviews on how to deal with texture. Some say do the illumination to deflect the texture and you’re saying don’t use it. I don’t know what I’m doing. I guess I have to try both. But I don’t have the money to go out and buy all these different products.

Exact same boat and after a lot of experimenting, I've found skin finish foundations with a clear, non-illuminating but hydrating primer work best. The laura geller spackle hydrating treatment primer works wonderfully under most foundations. I'd suggest using diorskin forever or the EX1 cosmetics invisible skin foundation. I set under the eyes with the RCMA no colour powder, and it has never made me look dry and cakey, and to blur around the face I use the charlotte tilbury airbrush flawless finish...thing. Hope this helped xx

Thank you for another great tutorial, which really works, Elle 😘! But are you not using cruelty free products anymore..? La Mer is not cruelty free, and more expensive side too.. What other foundations would you recommend for dry, more mature skin (with little bit texture on cheek bones)? My current faves are Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue and Erborian CC Cream. But would love to find more fuller coverage, but luminous finish foundation for winter :) And you are SO right; good skin care (esp. hydrating essence, serum & moisturizer) is everything! I love Dr Gross pads too, but in winter my skin would love even gentler option. What do you think about First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads? My super affordable fave is Ordinary Glycolic Toner, but it's always sold out.

So is there a way to contour and highlight even if you do have textured skin?
@ElleLearyArtistry
@ElleLearyArtistry 6 жыл бұрын
Jem absolutely!! Use a matte contour and very little highlight on the tops of your cheeks. I️ would suggest a matte highlight but if you want the glow just use a little cream highlight!!! Xoxo

That additional blurring step with the Sephora collection powder, would you do that before or after other products like blush or bronzer?

FYI Elle subscribers, I didn’t expect to love the new Bobbi Brown concealer for my 50yr old under eyes but it’s reaaaaally good-the only other concealer I’ve been able to use is Charlotte tilbury but it’s also not enough coverage so I tried B.B.-can’t believe it creases even less than CT and doesn’t make my eyes look dry.

I just did this with the under eye powder - wow. I was doubtful but it worked. One question - how would you set creases (around the mouth) that everything settles in? Would you treat it the same way as under eye wrinkles? Thanks!

Hi I've just discovered your channel and finding all your videos are so packed with best information! One question about applying primers and foundations to textured skin with beauty blenders, what about your spf creams, bronzers and blushers etc would you recommend blenders all the way and save brushes for eyes only ? Thanks and keep up the brilliant videos. Julie X
