Please crank out that part 2 asap. I'm so lost. I have people offering me loads of money for something simple, and others offering me pennies for stuff that takes hours. Two big questions I'd have on the topic- How do you charge when the client sends you hours of footage and wants it condensed into a 15 minute video? How do you charge for special effects when you've already got the templates, or alternatively when it's going to take you a long time to create those effects?

What type of editing service do you provide? I heard Premiere Pro is mostly for basic editing, and doesn't really include special effects etc.

It definitely has a good amount of effects that you can add. But if you want proper motion graphics and VFX you can use after effects with premiere pro.

Could be a stupid question but how do you charge clients for the work? Do you tell them to paypal you the money before sending the video? After? Do you use something else other than paypal? Etc.

Not at all great question! I send them an invoice with my bank details so they can pay me straight to my bank. Sometimes you might have to use paypal if it's for an abroad client. But paypal do take a percentage of your money unless you use the family and friends function. So I would try to stay away from paypal if you can and just use bank transfer.

@@Joe_Edits Alright thanks. Yeah I'm in Sweden so most of my clients are probably gonna be abroad thats why I was assuming paypal would be better and easier since we got different banks and stuff but thanks for the reply!

Hmm yeah a tricky one. I haven't had to deal with clients overseas too much but if you know them well or do regular work for them you could see if they would be comfortable with paying you as family and friends on paypal. That way there's no/less fees. The other way would be to increase your prices slightly to overseas clients to cover the paypal fees.

Post about video editing and what goes on in your life, but try not to be too pushy and 'buy my stuff'. Basically you want people to know you're a freelance video editor who they could potential use in the future. This video is a better explanation kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j7J1YLOby9evl6c.html

Hi, I have a little bit of skills in video editing and now I would like to ask money for it. The problem is that I don't know which kind of videos to edit.. what did you edit first? I'd like to edit KZfaq videos but not too much professional and formal ones. Thx ;)

I started off editing my own videos so travel vlogs at the time and then vlogs for other people as well

@@Joe_Edits i thought of editing vlogs too.. it's the main field of KZfaq. At the beginning I would stay general with vlogs and in future maybe switch to a more specific field if I want. Does that make sense?

Where can I find videos to learn to edit particularly as I don't really have the time to make some videos throughout the day.
@Joe_Edits

Stock footage websites are great, either pexels or pixabay are both free and you can use as much footage from there as you like. Also downloading videos from KZfaq can be great for practicing your editing if you don't have time to film things

Wait but isn't the "industry standard" premiere? Figured I had to learn that first just to get work? Even though Resolve is where everyone is moving to..
@Joe_Edits

Davinci is really good for beginners because it's free and you can get an idea of what editing is really like and then if you feel like you need to you can transition to premiere later down the line! But you can also go in to premiere straight away it's just quite expensive!
