You make this seem attainable.. I'm willing to put in the time but feel it'll only keep my focus if I were to be looking to resolve a real life example..

Definitely. Is it easy? definitely not. But if you put in the time an effort it is definitely attainable. All of the guests I have had on the podcast (who are now in amazing roles) had to all start somewhere...

Hi chris , I’m new to this and still learning, i have learnt a bit of basic python and still learning from some course but i want to improve my understanding of the game so is there a course for that to or it comes naturally or i mean how can i improve or learn will be very helpful.

Firstly, thanks for watching. Not sure on specific courses but I'd say you would get great benefit from just watching more games and trying to think about them more analytically, rather than just as a 'fan'. Watch videos on youtube that break down tactics or look for some coaching/tactics books too. Good luck in your journey!

Question, Are you looking to the data from coach prospectives or journalist perspectives?

This would be from a coaches perspective. An analyst is effectively an extension of the coaches. As well as collecting data, it will be around tactics and considering how Besiktas can beat their opponents and limit any threats. Thanks for watching :)

@@chrisgill_UK that’s cool, I’m currently expanding my knowledge in the field, I did a couple courses under high performance analysis in football, now I will start the master in data science and I will do a reacher about how data could lead to better performance

Hello sir! I am currently pursuing my bachelors in statistics and I want to get into this field. Would you recommend pursuing a masters in data science before it to land a good opportunity?

Firstly, thanks for watching! This is a tough question to answer without knowing what is included in the bachelors, but a data science masters would be awesome. I would say though that it is important to also try to get experience (this can be just you doing projects in your own time) alongside your studies as this is likely what will help you stand out to clubs/organisations. As you studies may not be specifically sport related, I would also try to apply what you are learning to sports data and share your findings. You will also be able to learn from others online too. What Math topics do we need to master as future sports data analysts?

Chris is pretty much spot on. Another useful skill to learn is the Neural Network, PyTorch framework. Data processing and visualization etc

Thanks for watching 👍🏼 Subjective would include anecdotal information based on an individual's perceptions, experiences, and emotions. Players might complete a questionnaire for example or a coach may have a certain perception of the game. Subjective would be the 'facts' numbers around what actually happened. Number of shots, passes etc.

Do i need any coaching certificate to get into this field and work with a football club?

Probably not if you are looking to go down the data route. I know plenty of people moved across from other industries, but a strong knowledge of the game and good portfolio would likely be needed 👍🏼
