My skills section needs the most work. I have 99 listed last I checked. Yes I have worked in MANY sectors... Do you think AI would help? AI didn't help me pare down much earlier today, only down to about 86!

Brand new to your Channel. I have been watching you all day. Work experience. I have 20 years of experience as a general contractor, 5 years of property management experience, and 2 AA degrees. Despite my last 4 jobs being short-term and unrelated, I made myself essential during the pandemic by taking on roles such as a dump truck driver, ASL driver, and school bus driver. I am confident in my ability to excel in the jobs I am applying for, but I am still determining how to present my diverse experience over the past 4 years. Could you provide guidance or resources for less experienced individuals on LinkedIn?

Someone endorsed me just so I could endorse him. I don't even know him so I'm not doing it. I believe endorsements should only be given if you've worked with that person and you have experience of their skills. Thanks for this Heather.

This video has been so helpful! Thank you! I feel insecure about my education because I only have an AA. I am starting a virtual assistant business catering to small businesses and feel very confident in my skills having been a business owner myself for several years. However, I feel like an AA isn't considered much in the professional world. I'm curious as to what your thoughts are about this. Thank you.

It is hard to market yourself to others. I don't have a lot of achievements in my previous jobs. Only entry level jobs. what if you have different jobs, like cashier and call centre. Or you don't have long term jobs. Or you are going back to a previous career that you haven't been in for 10 years.

Should I bother with a linkedin profile if I am a white collar worker on a low income? Wouldn't linkedin allow my current employer to see that I am looking elsewhere and it would also make all my personal information available publicly.

Great question! Having a LinkedIn profile can still be beneficial, regardless of your income level or job status. It's a professional networking platform where you can showcase your skills, experiences, and accomplishments. While there may be concerns about privacy, you have control over the information you choose to share on your profile. You can adjust privacy settings to limit visibility to your current employer or other specific individuals. Additionally, LinkedIn provides opportunities for networking, job search, and professional development that can be valuable for career growth, even if you're not actively looking for a new job.

I do agree with Heather’s points. But I’d add: If your job is just a job, and you’d prefer not to put too much effort in, then LinkedIn may cause as much trouble as it adds benefits, as per your concerns. If you enjoy being valuable, would like to improve your situation, then LinkedIn is far more valuable than detrimental. If your employer sees you’re valuable to others, they’ll value you more. (I wouldn’t add the ‘open for work’ banner here, but showing you understand your role and its benefits shows your worth. If you increase the value of the company you work for, by posting about how great they are on LinkedIn, your company can less afford to lose you, but you’ll be headhunted by others. This simply means that at some point you’ll need to walk into your boss’s office and say “I’ve been headhunted and offered X. I like working here. Could you match it?” I’ve had many employees over the years, and their value has rarely been measured only by their direct job description output. And taking it to the lowest level, when I go to the supermarket, the conversation I have with the cashier about marvel and superheroes makes me value the supermarket more, and I’ll return there rather than visit a different store. If that supermarket cashier posted on LinkedIn once a week about the best conversation they’d encountered, they’d grow a cult following around the supermarket. If the supermarket doesn’t see the value in that, there will be a shop or service driven company that does.

I think LinkedIn simply increases your possibilities of advancement in your career. You can't limit yourself to one stage of your life, however comfortable it might be.And no one, except you can stop you from trying it out

I found your LI profile and tried to use the link provided in the About section to get the free resume template you offered. I submitted my email as asked, but instead of getting the template, I was offered to buy your Career Advancement Toolkit. I don't want to buy it. There does not seem to be a way to opt out of it and still get the template. Really disappointing business practice, seems dishonest. So sorry to experience it.

LinkedIn has added a rather dreadful AI tag generator for posts. How can I remove them? The system generates questions that, in theory, pertain to the subject of the posts, but not in actuality.
