I love day working. I work three days in the hospital, three days day thuggin' and trotting circles, then I give that 7th day to God. It's a great life. Thanks for the content.

The video was right about locals, a lot of it is just meeting as many ranchers and horsefolk as possible and saying the right things until someone goes, "Actually, yeah, I do need some help." And even then - everyone wants a good worker but not many of those people are actually willing to help you achieve your goals, so unlike in Dale's case where his interns are getting to go do the things they really want on occasion like go do rodeos, not many people out there are gonna help you get to that rodeo, or learn to rope, or train those horses unless it directly benefits the job, etc. You're the only person that's gonna be able to get you to your goals until you have just the right conversation with just the right person. So have as many conversations with as many people as possible, eventually someone will react well to you, and hopefully that person is in the same part of the industry that you want to be in to get you to where you want to be.

I’m from around central PA, sadly I don’t think there are many ranches around here to get started in. May just have to move somewhere! Spent a couple summers feeding horses and stackin hay, not sure if that guy is still around. Becoming a rancher, or a ranch hand has been a dream of mine for a long time. Thanks for the tips!

If you have a passion for ranching you will make it happen. I am 29 year old female and been leasing land since I was 16. I am now in the position where I am finally looking to purchase land. I think you should include info on local farm agencies and the low interest offer for beginning farmers and ranchers to purchase land. Rodeo. It’s a way to enjoy the western way of life and have a regular job to pay all the bills. I have a small acreage with a roping horse and some calves I turn out to pasture when I’m finished practicing roping them. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had.

Ranching up on the great white north is a whole different ball game. If you enjoy feeding and calving in sub zero temperatures come on up. Idaho is a cattlemans paradise..... until winter
